Supporting an education for life With the support of our community, we have provided outstanding educational opportunities to thousands of young people for over 100 years. The academic, cocurricular and pastoral care programs enjoyed by generations of St Leonard’s College students have been made possible by the generosity of our benefactors, past and present. Thanks to the support received through our recent Annual Giving and Building Fund programs, we have completed the first stage of our Learning Futures project, with the Cornish Library officially opening in May 2017. We are now embarking on the remaining stages of this project – a redeveloped drama theatre and the new Learning Futures Centre – which you can read about in this brochure. Our scholarship program also continues to grow, and we hope to offer more Leonardian, Global Citizen and Indigenous Scholarships to young women and men in the coming years. We can only do this with the help of our community, and we are seeking your support to ensure we can continue to fulfil our vision of providing all our students with an education for life. We invite you to join with us in supporting the 2017 Annual Giving Appeal. Every gift, no matter how large or small, will make a difference to our school and those who learn, play and grow here. We look forward to thanking you for your donation and sharing more of the successes made possible by your support.

Harefield Scholarships Leonardian Scholarship Leonardian Scholarships may be awarded to prospective students presently at a government school entering year 5 and years 7 to 11 who demonstrate sound academic ability and community spirit. Students who face ongoing difficult family or other life circumstances which have prevented them from realising their goals, dreams and aspirations are encouraged to apply for these awards. Global Citizen Scholarship These awards provide support for prospective students who have recently immigrated to Melbourne with their families. Students in year 8 and above with sound academic ability and the desire to contribute to the St Leonard’s College community will be considered. The College has a close relationship with the Noble Park English Language Centre but welcomes applications from all eligible families.

Mustafa and Amira are Global Citzen Scholarship recipients.

Learning Futures Drama Theatre The development of a vibrant, purpose built drama and theatre hub will enhance student learning and performance opportunities. The newly designed black-box studios will provide spacious learning areas to explore a dynamic range of physical skills, ensemble building and dance. Built to include a lighting rig, sound desk, mirrors and costume store, the working spaces will allow hands-on stagecraft experience and flexible performance venues. The Thelma C Woolhouse Theatre upgrade will provide a state-of-the art performance venue, and the new foyer will be an impressive entry point to all of our theatre productions, also doubling as a classroom space which opens up onto a tiered outdoor amphitheatre.

Learning Futures Centre The educational needs of 21st Century students call for learning spaces that are more flexible and agile than a traditional classroom. As schools, universities and workplaces adapt to an ever-changing economy, skills such as critical thinking and collaboration are more valuable than ever. The Learning Futures Centre will provide a flexible, purpose-built space for students to engage in collaborative learning activities, developing their creativity, lateral thinking and problem solving skills. The Centre will house a range of collaborative working spaces, including standing desks, boardroom tables, small screening areas and tiered bench seating. The Learning Futures Centre may be used for anything from pastoral sessions to small group work and team teaching. Annual Giving 2017
