GENEROSITY CHERISHED THE LEGACY OF HELEN G NASSIF

2017 ANNUAL REPORT

A TRUE PHILANTHROPIST The late Helen Nassif was committed to transforming health care in her hometown You probably never met Helen G. Nassif. After all, she left Cedar Rapids more than six decades ago to pursue a groundbreaking career in law and real estate. And unless you were a relative or one of the few Iowans she maintained contact with, you likely never spoke with her either. But the impact of Helen’s generosity has touched the lives of virtually everyone in our community. Over the years she donated more than $8 million to support organizations from Coe College to the Cedar Rapids YMCA…and especially UnityPoint Health - St. Luke’s Hospital. “When we talk about the definition of a philanthropist, I think of Helen instantly,” says Mary Klinger, president of St. Luke’s Foundation. “Her legacy is of giving back to her community.” Helen, who passed away in November 2017 at the age of 98, never sought the limelight in her hometown. She was born in Jesup, 45 miles northwest of Cedar Rapids, to immigrant parents. The family moved to Cedar Rapids when Helen, the youngest of nine children, was just three. While the older kids worked in the family grocery store and Oriental rug business, the three youngest—Michael, John and Helen—were encouraged to further their education, along with developing a strong work ethic.

Helen Nassif (front, right) never forgot the values she learned from her immigrant family or her Cedar Rapids roots.

Helen attended Coe College before leaving in 1944 for Washington, DC, where she worked her way through George Washington University Law School. Over the next several years she returned to Cedar Rapids to visit family, spending summers with her parents George and Tillie in their home on B Avenue NE, three blocks from St. Luke’s. But her career as a government attorney increasingly kept her in Washington, DC. After her

father’s death in 1964, Helen seldom came back to Iowa. Yet Cedar Rapids remained a part of Helen throughout her life. “It never occurred to me,” she said in 2000, “to cut my roots from my family or my hometown.” “She never forgot where she came from,” explains her nephew, Dr. John Nassif of Florida. “Our family is scattered around the country now, but we still consider ourselves Iowans. I know Helen felt that way, too.” Helen credited her family’s support and encouragement with helping her rise from a small-town girl to a powerful Washington, DC, attorney and businesswoman. In addition to her legal career, she became active in real estate as a successful builder and developer of commercial office buildings. Helen was also the first woman bank director in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, ultimately serving on multiple bank and corporate boards. Prior to the death of her husband, Walter L. Green, in 1993, the Washington, DC, power couple turned to philanthropy, using their financial means to help others. In 1996, Helen made her first contribution to a project in Cedar Rapids, donating $400,000 to St. George Orthodox Church for a community center named for her parents.

CHERISHED Tom Amosson, husband of Helen’s niece Jeanne Nassif Amosson, says, “That was the first time I saw how generous Helen was. After that she just kept giving and giving and giving. Her roots were here and she was adamant this is where she wanted to give her money.” Other projects quickly followed. About the time Helen funded the church addition, she began conversations with representatives from St. Luke’s Foundation about philanthropic opportunities. “St. Luke’s had always been the Nassif family’s hospital,” explains Klinger. “She let us know she was looking for bricks and mortar projects.” Tom Amosson adds, “She was interested in projects that were at a stage where a major donation was necessary to make it happen. She wanted to be the difference-maker.” In July 2000, Helen made her first contribution to St. Luke’s. At the time, her generous donation was the largest single gift to the Foundation from a living benefactor. It made possible the hospital’s state-of-the-art Nassif Heart Center, named in memory of her brother, Dr. John G. Nassif, who practiced dentistry in Cedar Rapids for many years. He died in 1966 of heart disease at the age of 50.

Helen’s parents instilled in their children a strong work ethic and commitment to helping others. Helen’s gift to St. George Orthodox Church honored the memory of her parents.

“During John’s struggles, he dreamed one day there would be a facility in Cedar Rapids offering advanced technology for the treatment of heart disease,” recalled Helen. “My gift of the Nassif Heart Center is a fulfillment of John’s dream.” “Helen’s family meant the world to her,” says her cousin, Clarice Nassif Ransom. “The best way she could honor her Iowa roots and her family in an enduring way—especially after family members passed away—was to do something charitable on their behalf that would also help the community as a whole.” The following year Helen made an even more generous gift to fund the Helen G. Nassif Center for Women’s & Children’s Health. This familyfriendly facility is home to St. Luke’s birthing center, neonatal intensive care unit and pediatrics. Helen noted, “There is a saying that the greatest achievements are those that benefit others. Giving back is how I hope to finish out my life.” “She could have used her money in other ways, but she thought helping the community was a worthwhile cause,” explains Helen’s cousin Dr. Edward Nassif, a physician in Ames. “Whether it be the heart center, women’s and children’s health or the cancer center, you can’t ask for any better. All of the family is very proud.”

This beautiful table is a gift from Helen Nassif to St. Luke’s Foundation.

The Helen G. Nassif Pavilion at St. Luke’s opened in 2009, thanks in large part to another significant donation from Helen. At its dedication, St. Luke’s President and CEO Ted Townsend called Helen Nassif a friend as well as a key investor in the hospital. “Her leadership, vision, faith in our team and of course her generosity allow us to fulfill our mission. Helen’s investments in St. Luke’s will generate many returns as we move into our next 125 years.” Two more major gifts followed: one in 2011 to establish the Helen G. Nassif Community Cancer Center and another to support the Albert G. & Helen Nassif Radiation Center. Together the two projects completed the continuum of care for cancer patients in the Cedar Rapids area. “I am extremely proud of the Community Cancer Center’s role in helping cancer patients and their loved ones,” said Helen, in 2011. “It’s very gratifying to know so many lives have been touched by their services.” Adds her nephew, Doug Nassif, “The Community Cancer Center has made quite an impact here. I get a real sense of pride when I see the Nassif name around our community.” Helen Nassif was a private person who probably wouldn’t appreciate the fuss being made about her now. “She simply believed people should work hard, take care of themselves, strive to be better and make the most out of the potential they have,” says Dr. John Nassif. “It was how she lived her life.”

“I have enjoyed an abundance of life’s luxuries. In my heart I knew it was time to give back.” Helen G. Nassif November 2000 2011 Helen G. Nassif Community Cancer Center and Albert G. & Helen Nassif Radiation Center

To Clarice Nassif Ransom, who considered Helen as her mentor, “Helen had a commitment to family, community and giving I have never seen in anyone else. Her advice was to always place God first in my life and she demonstrated her faith not only by what she said, but through her actions. The world is a much better place because of Helen.” Mary Klinger notes 2017 was a strong year for St. Luke’s Foundation, but an emotional one as well. “We received many new gifts, but we also lost some beloved people.” Klinger acknowledges she will miss her conversations with Helen. “She was smart and interested in the community. She wanted us to keep her in the loop about everything, right down to the marketing for projects she was involved with. Through her giving, she helped set St. Luke’s apart as we take health care to the next level.” It’s a legacy of giving that will live on. Helen G. Nassif’s nephew, Dr. Alex Skaff of West Virginia, explains, “Because Cedar Rapids is a small town, she felt she could make a real difference by concentrating her philanthropic efforts in this community. The foundation she established will continue and we will extend her philanthropy wherever we can make an impact.” Planned gifts leave a lasting personal legacy of support for exceptional, compassionate health care. Whether you’re considering a gift to a specific area of St. Luke’s or to the hospital as a whole, St. Luke’s Foundation can work with you. A Shining Star for Children in Need Linda K. Mattes turns her passion into support for St. Luke’s Child Protection Center Linda Mattes is passionate about helping kids. When she heard about the work St. Luke’s Child Protection Center (CPC) was doing to aid young victims of abuse, she knew she wanted to get involved. “Linda is a shining star,” says Tonya Arnold, director of grants and administration for St. Luke’s Foundation. “She faithfully supports the Child Protection Center, not just financially but with her time as well.” Mattes joined the CPC Advisory Board, where she learned more about the needs of children and families impacted by abuse. “Until then, I was unaware of the extent of child abuse going on in our community,” admits Mattes, a vice president with Alliant Energy. “I learned child abuse does not attack a single demographic. It can happen anywhere, to any child.” She adds, “In some cases, kids have to be removed from a home quickly and placed

in foster care. They might be taken from the home while still in their jammies and have nothing with them. I knew we had to do something.” “Something” turned out to be the CPC’s backpack project. In 2012 the CPC began providing a backpack with basic necessities for the foster care child to take to their new surroundings. The backpack can be used for school, while items in it include a week’s worth of outfits, underwear, toiletries, shoes and a comfort item. “Linda’s generosity really started the CPC backpack program,” says Arnold. “She has personally given about $25,000 to this fund.” Mattes also enlisted support from Cedar Rapids’ 100+ Women Who Care. “At each meeting we draw names,” she explains. “If your name is drawn, you make a pitch for the organization you’re supporting and everyone in the room gives $100 to that group. It’s a way to make an even bigger impact than an individual donation.”

Mattes’s lifetime giving to St. Luke’s Foundation reaches about $45,000, but the Child Protection Center remains her passion. She cites the CPCs commitment not only to helping children today, but breaking the cycle of abuse to protect future generations. “We want to educate kids now, so when they become adults, they know the right way to treat a child.”

is truly about “This helping kids and their families. It would make me really happy if this story inspires someone else to follow my lead and support the Child Protection Center.

The Importance of Giving Back

Andrea Kelley’s love for her patients and St. Luke’s shines through her support for the iCare campaign Andrea Kelley feels lucky. Kelley, a registered radiologic technologist specializing in mammography and bone density exams for UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Breast & Bone Health, says, “I’m fortunate to have the job I have. I love what I do and I want St. Luke’s to know I’m thankful to be here.” A St. Luke’s team member for almost 15 years now, Kelley is proud to support the Foundation’s iCare campaign for employee giving. “I started small, just giving a little something,” she explains. “Then I challenged myself to give a little bit more each year. Now I make it a point to give back at least an hour’s pay every pay period.” Kelley credits St. Luke’s with giving her the opportunity to do two things she loves. In addition to mammography, she also teaches pilates at the Helen G. Nassif Community Cancer Center. She says, “The classes are like a moving support group for patients and survivors. I’ve known some of my 10

students for years and we often spend time before or after class just talking. It’s important for them and important to me.” Each year, Kelley directs her donation to an area of special interest to her, from the Birth Center to the Community Cancer Center’s Spirit Fund. “I like to specify where my money goes,” explains Kelley. “Every year it seems there is something that is especially meaningful to me.” She adds, “My mom was a nurse and she loved taking care of others. She always left people with a hug because she said you never know when they might need it. I lost my mom recently, but understanding how important it is to make people feel special and support one another was her gift to me.” That’s one reason Kelley encourages her fellow team members to get involved in the iCare campaign. “I talk to them about contributing one

hour’s pay per pay period. I know it can be difficult, but we wouldn’t be here without them. The more we give back, the more the hospital can give to us and to our patients.” “I believe as a team, we can make St. Luke’s even stronger,” says Kelley. “That’s a great reflection on all of us.”

Over the years, members of our UnityPoint Health - Cedar Rapids family have contributed more than $5 million through iCare. For more information on the iCare campaign, contact Jennifer Sweeney at (319) 369-7807.

Andrea Kelley is inspired by cancer patients and survivors in the pilates classes she teaches at the Helen G. Nassif Community Cancer Center. Now Kelley and her husband Bobby are honoring their courage through sponsorship of a photograph from the Healing Power of Art. The image the Kelleys chose reminds them of a favorite vacation spot. “It’s so calming to sit on the dock and look out at the water,” says Andrea Kelley. “I showed several photos to my class and this was the one they liked, too, which made it even more special.” Kelley also selected the inspirational quote that accompanies the image: “Make your heart like a lake with a calm, still surface and great depths of kindness.” – Lao Tzu The Healing Power of Art is a beautiful way to support the Community Cancer Center while contributing to the healing process in body, mind and spirit. “Research shows artwork can help reduce pain and stress, shorten hospital stays and improve the patient experience,” explains Mary Klinger, St. Luke’s Foundation president. Giving Kids a Safe Place to Grieve

Camp Embracing Memories is celebrating 10 years of helping grieving kids and their families. 12

Cedar Memorial’s generous support is the foundation for Camp Embracing Memories, Eastern Iowa’s only grief camp for children It’s hard to lose someone you love, no matter what your age. When you’re a child, the loss of a loved one can shatter your world. That’s why UnityPoint Hospice developed Camp Embracing Memories. The only program of its kind in Eastern Iowa, Camp Embracing Memories gives children ages seven through 16 a safe and accepting environment to grieve. “This is our tenth year,” says Jamie Siela, bereavement coordinator for UnityPoint Hospice. “And it wouldn’t be possible without our community partner, Cedar Memorial.” Cedar Memorial’s generous support ensures the program is available free of charge to grieving kids and their families.

The partnership began when C. John Linge, president and CEO of The Cedar Group, reached out to St. Luke’s shortly after the first camp was held and asked how he could help. “It seemed a very natural partnership for us in our mission of community service,” Linge explains. “Our experience with families told us there was a need for a place like this. The adults are grieving and can find it difficult to talk to kids about their loss.” Over the years, Camp Embracing Memories has evolved from an overnight camping experience in the fall to a year-round program with activities for kids and families to do at home and in quarterly get-togethers, like Cookies & Canvas painting night. Siela says volunteers are key to the camp’s success. Among the most committed volunteers are Cedar Memorial team members Shelbie Irish and Dr. James Coyle.

This year’s camp takes place September 22-23 at Camp Io-Dis-E-Ca in Solon. To request a registration form or learn more, call UnityPoint Hospice at (319) 369-7744.

“It warms my heart to be part of this group,” admits Shelbie Irish, a Family Service counselor at Cedar Memorial. “It’s amazing to see the progress the kids make throughout the weekend as they discover they’re not alone in this. They begin to open up to each other and by the time they leave, they’ve become friends.” Dr. James Coyle, Human Relations director at Cedar Memorial, sees this as an opportunity to get to know the kids and give them coping tools for surviving a loss. “It’s one of the highlights of the year for me. It’s a fun and engaging weekend—a place where kids can have a good time while bonding with other kids who have lost a loved one.” Linge adds, “Adults have a responsibility to let children know it’s all right to be sad and to give them a safe place where they can express their feelings. That’s what Camp Embracing Memories does. Our role as St. Luke’s strategic partner is to make sure the dollars are there so the camp can continue to operate.”

“This Is What I Love To Do”

Physicians’ Clinic of Iowa Ear, Nose & Throat staff honors St. Luke’s nurse with Guardian Angel award Diane Godfrey was shocked when she received a Guardian Angel award. “I did not expect it in a million years,” says Godfrey, an operating room nurse who also provides specialized care for tracheotomy (trach) patients. “This is what I love to do. It’s an honor to be recognized for it.” The Guardian Angel program gives patients and families the opportunity to show their appreciation for UnityPoint Health – Cedar Rapids team members, doctors, or volunteers who made a difference in their healthcare experience. In Godfrey’s case, the recognition came from the physicians and nurses of Physicians’ Clinic of Iowa (PCI) Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) who made a donation to St. Luke’s Foundation in her name.

“Diane is so deserving of this honor,” explains Tami Fisher, clinic manager for PCI ENT. “Her expertise and passion in caring for trach patients is amazing.” In their nomination letter, PCI ENT Nurses Melanie Mahan and Kris Ward cited Godfrey’s above-and-beyond care, noting she would make multiple trips to assist a trach patient, while teaching and supporting the patient’s family so they were comfortable taking care of their loved one at home. Godfrey came to St. Luke’s in part because of the opportunity to spend more time with these special patients. “Getting a tracheotomy is life-changing. I have a dedicated phone for trach patients and they know they can call me whenever they have a concern. If it’s a question I can’t answer, the doctors are

there for me.” She also credits St. Luke’s Respiratory Therapy department team members for their support. “I can’t say enough good things about them. The collaboration between nursing and respiratory therapy is awesome.” “Diane is more than a great nurse,” says Dr. Kevin Carpenter. “She is a great human being, whether driving to make house calls several hours away, helping her patients move on her day off, or just being a lifeline for them.” Dr. Ryan Dempewolf adds, “Diane is a great example to healthcare providers. She is the type who will not look for, or like, the fuss of appreciation but often these are the people who deserve it the most— and she does.”

Your Guardian Angel donation pays tribute to the caregivers who made a difference for you, while making a meaningful impact on UnityPoint Health – Cedar Rapids’ ability to provide quality care. For more information on how to say “thank you” through the Guardian Angel program, contact Jennifer Sweeney, Director Annual Giving, at (319) 369-7807. 14

2017 Patient Care Excellence Award Recipients St. Luke’s Foundation Patient Care Excellence Award Program recognizes healthcare providers who demonstrate outstanding achievement in their field. Award nominees are recommended by their peers, manager or director through an annual nomination process in each department. Each nominee is then asked to complete an application and write an essay for consideration. The Foundation’s Award Selection Committee determines the recipients. This program was established by several supporters of St. Luke’s Hospital to recognize our caregivers (nurses, social workers, therapists, etc.) These individuals generously donated to the Foundation so a caregiver could receive financial assistance to use for educational purposes or any other intent of the donor.

Helping St. Luke’s Nurses Help Others Keech scholarship established in 1969 benefits today’s nurses in achieving RN to BSN goal Almost 50 years ago, funds from the estate of Dr. Roy K. and Bess Keech established a scholarship for students at St. Luke’s School of Nursing. The mission of the Keech scholarship, which is managed by St. Luke’s Foundation, was to “make available to worthy young people the advantage of an education in nursing…not only to help themselves but to extend their influence to others.” Today the Keech scholarship continues to serve that goal by helping St. Luke’s nurses further their education through an expedited program for registered nurses seeking a Bachelor of Science degree. “Evidence supports a correlation between nursing education and patient outcomes,” explains Carmen Kleinsmith, UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Hospital VP/Chief Nurse Executive. “We value our nurses and want to give them an opportunity to continue professional development if they so desire. We asked the Foundation if they could support our RN to BSN program and they suggested the Keech scholarship would be a perfect fit.”

Since 1969, more than $3.4 million has been distributed through endowment funds such as the Keech Scholarship to provide educational enrichment for St. Luke’s staff.

16

The RN to BSN accelerated curriculum is offered in partnership by St. Luke’s Hospital and Mount Mercy University. Each year up to ten students are selected for the Keech scholarship, which offsets expenses for the program’s 21 nursing credit hours. Indira Beganovic (right) has been a registered nurse at St. Luke’s since graduating from Kirkwood Community College. In 2017 she decided the time was right to pursue her BSN, so she applied for the Keech scholarship. Beganovic says, “With two children and a mortgage, it’s hard to set money aside for school. I’m fortunate I was accepted for the scholarship program. It makes going back to school possible for me.”

I love nursing. It fulfills you “when you can help someone. Getting my degree will help me advance myself so I can better serve my patients.

Indira Beganovic

Dawn Cook (left) received her BSN with help from the Keech scholarship program. An RN at St. Luke’s since graduating from St. Luke’s School of Nursing diploma program in 1981, Cook says, “Getting my bachelor’s degree has given me a more well-rounded education, from evidence-based practices to communication and presentation skills. It’s also opening new doors for me.” In addition to her role as an orthopedic nurse at St. Luke’s, Cook is now teaching the next generation of nurses as an adjunct nursing professor at Mount Mercy. Says Kleinsmith, “Our philosophy has always been that we support our nurses in their professional development. By partnering with the Foundation on the Keech scholarship program, we’re investing in the future of nursing by making it easier for our RNs to receive their BSN.”

2017 St. Luke’s Foundation Rural Healthcare Grants Six Eastern Iowa organizations are the recipients of $24,875 in grants as part of UnityPoint Health St. Luke’s Foundation’s Rural Healthcare Grant Program. This program provides matching grants toward healthcare projects that improve the health and wellness of rural residents. This is the second year Central Iowa Power Cooperative (CIPCO) made a $5,000 donation to St. Luke’s Foundation in support of this program. CIPCO has been Iowa’s largest cooperative energy provider since 1946. They serve nearly 300,000 rural and urban residents and approximately 12,000 commercial and industrial accounts. “CIPCO was excited to again partner with St. Luke’s in helping rural agencies help their communities,” says a CIPCO representative. “With Commitment to Community being one of our core values, this program fits our vision. Many of the communities that will receive funding are within our member cooperatives’ service territory.” St. Luke’s Foundation awarded the first Rural Healthcare Grants in 1980 to Mechanicsville Fire and East Poweshiek Ambulance. Since then, the Foundation has awarded more than $350,000 in matching grants to support emergency medical services in Benton, Cedar, Delaware, Iowa, Johnson, Jones, Linn and Poweshiek counties. The Foundation created the Rural Healthcare Endowment through corporate and individual donations. St. Luke’s team members also contributed their 1995-96 “iCare – The Employee Giving Campaign” to the endowment. Most recently, the Foundation had two additional endowments established to benefit the Rural Healthcare Grant Program – the Mary Beulah and Florence Usher Endowment (2004) and the Benton-Linn Rural Healthcare Fund (2009).

The 2017 matching grant recipients were: Belle Plaine Area Ambulance received $5,000 to purchase one power cot. Benton County Volunteer Program received $3,500 to fund transportation expenses for volunteer drivers. Blairstown Volunteer Ambulance Service received $5,000 to purchase three automatic external defibrillators (AEDs). RSVP of Jones County received $5,000 to fund transportation expenses for volunteer drivers. Van Horne First Responders received $5,000 to purchase three automatic external defibrillators (AEDs). Volunteer Services of Cedar County received $1,375 to fund transportation expenses for volunteer drivers.

Community members can help support St. Luke’s Rural Healthcare Grant by giving contributions of any amount. Additional gifts build the endowment and help fund even more rural healthcare needs. For more information, call St. Luke’s Foundation at (319) 369-7716 or visit stlukesfoundation.com.

Providing CARE for Kids in Our Community

20

Wayne and Nan Parks Kocourek support a new initiative to help children and families impacted by drug abuse There’s something about Cedar Rapids. No matter how far residents roam, they seem to keep a special place in their hearts for our community. People like Helen G. Nassif, whose philanthropy was centered on Cedar Rapids and UnityPoint Health - St. Luke’s Hospital decades after she moved away. And Nan Parks Kocourek, who no longer calls Eastern Iowa her home, but continues to help children and families who live here. “This is such a wonderful community to raise children in,” she explains. “I raised my children here and they all came back and settled in Cedar Rapids to raise their families. It’s the kind of place I decided we should be giving more to.”

The Child Protection Center is located at St. Luke’s Children’s Campus in Hiawatha.

Nan and her husband Wayne recently chose to support a new initiative from St. Luke’s Child Protection Center. The Childhood Assessment, Referral & Early Intervention program, or CARE, addresses the special needs of kids who have been exposed to substance abuse. Through the Kocourek’s generosity, the program received a one-year grant to make CARE’s services free to patients who don’t have insurance. CARE serves children from birth to age 17 who have been exposed to substances prenatally or environmentally. Because childhood substance exposure can lead to delays in motor skills, language and behavior, CARE uses early interventions to help ensure each child’s long-term wellbeing. The child receives a medical exam and is screened for developmental delays as well as social, emotional, and behavioral concerns. A CARE coordinator meets with the child’s parent or caregiver and connects the family with any support services they need. Babies who have substance exposure will be followed by CARE every three months through their first year of life and at regular intervals after that to age five.

Wayne and Nan Parks Kocourek

“My children have been blessed with health and a good life,” says Nan. “They give their time and money to causes in Cedar Rapids. When my son told me about CARE, we talked to Mary Klinger at St. Luke’s Foundation and offered our financial support.” Nan, who received a personal thank you from everyone at the CPC, including the entire CARE team, says, “I realize they’re grateful for the financial backing, but I’m grateful there are people who have the talents to do this work. They’re the ones who need to be applauded. The fact we can help them financially is a blessing for us.” She adds, “When you hear from these children and their parents and realize how much it means to them that you were able to give them a boost, it’s an incredible feeling.”

Your support can make all the difference for kids in our community. For more information on how you can help CARE and other St. Luke’s Child Protection Center services, call (319) 369-7716. 21

Every day we are amazed by the caring and generous spirit of people who donate to St. Luke’s Foundation. Over the years their contributions large and small have helped us raise millions of dollars to support UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s in giving the health care we’d like our loved ones to receive.

People like Helen G. Nassif, the successful attorney, real estate developer and trail-blazing businesswoman who lived and worked most of her life in Washington, DC, but who never forgot her Cedar Rapids roots. Although Ms. Nassif passed away in 2017, her generous support of St. Luke’s continues to have a lasting impact on women’s and children’s health, heart care and cancer services in our community. And people like Andrea Kelley, a registered radiologic technologist for St. Luke’s Breast & Bone Health, who sets an example for employee giving by challenging herself to donate at least one hour’s pay every pay period.

St. Luke’s Foundation is built on the power of healthy relationships like these. Last year saw the loss of some cherished friends of the Foundation. But we also saw a renewed commitment from many longtime supporters and forged new relationships with amazing people determined to make a difference. From generous donors to compassionate caregivers and staff, know how much you matter to this world…and to UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s. Gene Neighbor
