WhenfirstarrivinginBigSky,Montana,youarewelcomedbymountainsof puffy,glisteningsnow.Montanaisknownforitsrawanduntouchednatural beautythatleavestouristsinawe.OncemyfamilyandIwerepickedupbya driverfromtheLoneMountainRanch,wedrovethroughsometreacherous roadsalongtheGallatinRiver Thankfully,ourdriverhadalotofexperience,so wegottotheranchsafely.Onthewaythedrivertoldusthatafamousmovie,A RiverRunsThroughIt,starringBradPittwasfilmedontheGallatinRiver. Wow!
OncewearrivedattheLoneMountainRanch,Iquicklygottogoskiingor snowboardingonthemountain.Theranchalsoofferssnowshoeingandcrosscountryskiing(alsocalledNordicskiing).MyfamilyandIfoundoutthatthe ranchhasthelargestcrosscountryskiingtrailsinthecountry!That'ssocool! Inthewinter,theLoneMountainRanchhasaspectacularsleighridedinner Aftergettingonthesleigh,thehorsestakethecarriagethrough amagicalforest.AtthedinnerwemetalocalsingernamedBrucewhosingscountrysongsaboutlifeinthewest.HetoldmyDadabouta famousMontanaartistnamedCharlesM.Russellwholivedinthe1800’s.MyfamilyandIboughtabookabouthim,andI’mreallylooking forwardtoreadingit
MostofthetimeinMontana,wespentourtimeskiing,whichwasmyfavoritepartofthetrip.Wewereluckythatitsnowed,andthe conditionsweregreat.TheBigSkyResorthasplentyoftrails,shops,restaurants,andsomuchmore!Allthetrailswereamazing,andthe foodwasdelicious Imetafriendwhowasstayinginthecabinnexttome,andweplayedinthesnowtogetherandwentsleighriding
AswewereleavingLoneMountainRanch,myfamilyandIweregreetedbyaherdofElkthatwasgrazingpeacefullyalongtheproperty.It wasajoytoseethem,butIwasverysadthatIhadtoleave.Hopefully,wewillbebackinthefuture,andIwouldrecommendvisitingthis beautifulareaofthecountryanyday!

MrHennessy:Iplayedalotofsoccer EverysingledayafterschoolallthroughelementaryandmiddleschoolIwouldcomehome andsitoutsideandjuggleasoccerballeverydayforhours,andIalsodidatonofswimming.Mybrotheralmostwenttothe Olympicsinswimminginthefiftyfree HeswamfortheUniversityofWashington Hewasthemostcommittedtoswimmingin ourfamily,butweallswam.Sometimesitwassixinthemorningbeforeschool,anditwasalot,butitwassofun.Wealsoplayed basketball,football,andbaseball-Iwasonateamfortwoseasons

Mr.Hennessy:IwaslivinginSouthKorealearningthelanguage,enjoyingthefood,somanyfriends,andmystudentsweresogreat.I lovedit.Koreancultureissoexcitingtome.

Mr.Hennessy:Well,Igetup,andIgetreadyforschool.Ireadthenewseveryday,andthenIgrabbreakfast,whichisusuallyapastry ortwobananas ThenIdriveheretoSLS,andIlistentopianomusicthewholewaytoschool:one,becauseIthinkit’sverycalming andtwo,IplaypianoandguitarandIliketohearnewthingsthatIcanabsorbsoIcanwritemysomemusic.ThenIgethere,andIdo obligatoryemailchecking,andIwritetowhoeverhaswrittentome,andImakesomephonecalls.ThenIrundown,andIfillupa coffeecup,andItrytosayhiandmeetasmanypeopleasIcansinceI’mstillnewattheschool.SoItrytogettoknowallthe students,andIsayhellotoallthefacultyaswellandifthereareanyparentsintheschool,Itrytosayhello.Thenwehavemeetings throughoutthedaytodiscussourworkwhichisreallycommunitydevelopment-howdowehelpeveryonefeellikethey'reinvolvedin thecommunityandbelieveinthecommunity.Andthenwehavelunchandmorecoffee!ThenIgooutandtrytositinonclassessoI cannunderstandthebrilliantstufftheteachersaredoing.Itrytowatchasmanyathleticcompetitionsaspossible.Yesterday,Iguest coachedsquash,anditwasalotoffun Ididitforanhourforthemiddleschoolteam,andthenIwatchedthechoirandbandsingat sevenpmforanhour,anditwasalotoffun.Thetalentatthisschoolisreallyimpressive.ThenIgohomeandifIamnotreadinga bookIliketoreadphilosophyandclassicsandliterature.IfIamnotreadingoneofthose,IwillwatchasillyTVshowandrelaxfor therestofthenight,writeafewmoreemails,andthengotobed
