Job Opening St. Luke’s is seeking a bookkeeper to work in our Finance area. The desired candidate will have experience in processing accounts payable and payroll. The position will require weekly posting of all contribution and event payments as well as preparing monthly reports for final review. Ideal candidate will understand cash accounting, follow all GAAP requirements and submit to a background check. This is a part-time position working 25 to 30 hours a week with benefits. Boy Scout Annual Pancake Breakfast On Sunday, February 8 between 8:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. the Boy Scouts will prepare and serve a pancake breakfast in the Rotunda to celebrate Scout Sunday. All profits from the breakfast will go towards the purchase of camping equipment and financial support for families needing assistance with summer Scout camp. Cost is $5 per person, children under 5 are free. You may purchase your tickets ahead of time by visiting the Scouts’ table in the Rotunda TODAY or February 1 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. or from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

East Central District Annual UMC Leadership Training All are welcome at this free district-wide training on Saturday, February 7 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at First UMC in Oviedo. Training includes a selection of classes to help you grow and connect with other United Methodists. Bethune-Cookman Concert Chorale Evening Concert For the first time at St. Luke’s, Bethune-Cookman University Concert Chorale will treat the community to a free evening concert. For many years St. Lukers have come to enjoy hearing the Chorale during worship on one special Sunday. This year, instead of leading worship the Chorale will perform a free two-hour concert on Thursday, March 5 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary. The concert is free but you must R.S.V.P. at st.lukes.org/bethunecookman.

GROW SUNDAY MORNING PROGRAMMING FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH: Children: Children preschool through grade 4 will follow the Miracles of Jesus. Stop by the Welcome Window in Building B on Sunday mornings for room assignments. Special Needs: Children with special needs can learn in an environment designed with them in mind. THE MCKEEFERY SEMINARY SCHOLARSHIP FUND: Are you considering a church related profession? If so, you may be interested in financial assistance from the McKeefery Seminary Scholarship Fund. Scholarship awards will be used to pay for tuition, fees and books, and will be paid directly to the Seminary in the recipient’s name. WEDNESDAY NIGHT DINNER: The menu for January 28 includes oven fried chicken, baked sweet potato casserole, salad, rolls, dessert, and drink. PASTORS’ BOOK CLUB: Pastor Corey is facilitating a study on the book “Same Kind of Different as Me.” This bestseller is about a man raised under plantation-style slavery who escapes. He spends eighteen years on the streets of Dallas before an encounter with a woman of faith and her husband. They become best friends and eventually write this book together. Open dialogue on erasing prejudices and obtaining a deeper understanding of our Core Value of “Acceptance.” Join us Wednesdays now through February 11 at 6:30 p.m. in Building C Room 208. COVENANT: Living the Covenant meets Wednesdays in Building C Room 200 at 7:00 p.m. This class explores what it means to live in partnership with the God of Creation. SERVE Within the Community MISSIONS VISUAL ARTS DISPLAY: See the stunning visual arts in Building C TODAY. The art work, created by the children of East Winter Garden, represents the community asset-mapping project in conjunction with ArtWorks, Circles and Habitat for Humanity. Come appreciate the art work and learn how you can be a part of these exciting ministries. WINTER GARDEN HABITAT CONSTRUCTION: Work days are Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (including lunch). Workers must be at least 16 years old. CITRUS GLEANING ON JANUARY 31: Partner with the Society of St. Andrew from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This is a great small group or family volunteer opportunity for 15 people to harvest citrus remaining in local groves or individual’s backyards. The gleaned fruit will be taken to local food banks to benefit struggling families. Bring gloves and wear closed toe shoes, meet at St. Luke’s at 7:30 a.m. to register. UNDERSTANDING CULTURAL INTELLIGENCE (CQ) WORKSHOP FEBRUARY 20-21: CQ is the capability to function effectively in a variety of cultural contexts including national, ethnic, organizational and generational. Enhance the effectiveness of your service and relationships through improved multicultural understanding. Friday’s workshop (5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.) includes a personal CQ assessment (cost $40). Sign up for both days (Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.) if you wish to gain permission to use CQ materials to conduct the training on your own ($200 for both days). DO YOU ENJOY MAKING NEW FRIENDS?: Do you attend the 11:00 a.m. contemporary worship service? Consider being an usher! Ushers serve one Sunday a month to welcome the congregation, collect the offering and help to facilitate worship. CHILDREN IN GRADES 3 THROUGH 7: Serve in traditional worship as Acolytes or Crucifers. This is a great way for children to grow in their faith and their responsibility! HELP WITH WORSHIP: Volunteer once a month for weekly setup/tear down of the flooring and chairs. Team captains and coordinators are also needed to assist with scheduling teams. SET DESIGN: These teams will work with the Worship Design Team to help bring the sermon series theme to life in our worship venues. BASS AND GUITAR PLAYERS: Has God blessed you with the gifts to play your instrument in worship? VIDEO TEAMS: Teams will be responsible for taping and editing the 9:30 a.m. services for both worship venues and uploading to the website. ASSIST WITH SLIDES AT 11:00: Advance the slides during re•define, Contemporary Worship service. Training is provided. CHILDCARE VOLUNTEERS: Did you know that we spend over $40,000 per year on paid childcare workers?
