WORSHIP What's up with worship? This week we begin a new sermon series "Once Upon A Time: A Love Story of Grace" The relationship between God and humanity is one of a sacred romance which began at the beginning of time and whose main theme is found in the work of grace. We were created to be in relationship with God, who has been wooing us from before we even knew or understood who God was. As we continue to grow in our lives, often our hearts become numb to this relationship, this longing and yearning for the grace that came before, and we try to replace that love with artificial loves: • • •

other people our own success things of this world

But God continues the pursuit of our hearts until we come to a place where we have to finally surrender and accept the sacrificial gift of the prince of peace’s love. Then our role is to continue to write our story of grace. What will be the final story of our lives if the pen of sanctifying grace is used to write our ending?

UNEWS Welcome to the new UNEWS section of your worship guide! Each week we will highlight events, inspiring stories from St. Lukers, and specific ways to worship, connect, grow and serve during this season or sermon series.

Scouts Sunday Boy Scouts of America requires a chartering organization for each Scout Unit to operate. Unit 6 which includes the Boy Scout Troop 6, the Cub Scout Pack 6 and Ventures is chartered by St. Luke's but it operates as its own organization rather than a ministry under the direction of staff. The relationship is managed by Lynette Fields and The Rev. Jad Denmark representing St. Luke's and Gregg Anderson representing the Scout Unit. The United Methodist Church is the second largest chartering organization with over 350,000 youth nationwide. SCOUTS ANNUAL PANCAKE BREAKFAST TODAY: The Boy Scouts are serving a pancake breakfast in the Rotunda TODAY between 8:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. All profits from the breakfast go toward camping equipment and summer camp. Cost is $5/person. Children under 5 are free. "Thanks to the support and facilities of St. Luke's, the lives of many young men have been positively impacted by Pack 6, Troop 6 and Crew 6. The values that my adult leaders passed on to me over 40 years ago when I was a scout are still relevant today. The Scout Oath and Scout Law remind me daily of the standards that scouts should live up to. Hopefully the scouts I have had the privilege of working with at St Luke's will pass these values on in the future." Glenn Mullins Adult Leader (retired) "For 10 years, the Scouting program at St. Luke's has challenged me physically and intellectually to expand my horizons. My body has been tested with challenges such as rock climbing, canoeing, hiking and mountain biking while my mind has been challenged with goal setting and community involvement through service to others. Scouting has afforded me the opportunity to learn leadership skills, mentoring, outdoor skills, crafts, potential career fields and a deep appreciation of our planet. Finally Scouting has provided me with a living moral code of conduct and honor that is in line with my faith and that I can turn to in times of trepidation." Brian Boatright, Eagle Scout Troop 6
