New series! Honk If You Love Jesus! Beyond Bumper Sticker Faith You can be a “bumper sticker Christian” but to be a disciple you have to move beyond. This series will take us on a journey through all of the expectations that we put on top of our faith and the cross. We will reflect on the pomp and circumstance, the way we think things should be, and who/what we put our faith in instead of Jesus Christ. We will examine what being a true follower of Christ looks like and sounds like as we move beyond bumper sticker faith.

SERVE Within the Community LENTEN OFFERING 2015: Many people “give up” something for Lent. At St. Luke’s, we encourage you to “give up” $1 or $2 a day for others. Our Annual Lent offering saves us from taking multiple special offerings during the year for requests made by our community, Florida Conference United Methodist Office, and by our Global United Methodist Church. You may want to write a check for $40 or $80 (for the 40 days of Lent) or create a habit each day by giving up something you would normally spend money on. Challenge your household with creative ways for every family member to participate in giving to others. Below are examples of how the Lenten Offering may be distributed: •Community: OCPS Social Worker Emergency Fund and Society of St. Andrew • Advocacy Organizations: Florida Impact (summer food program expansion) and Bread for the World • Florida Conference: UM Camp Scholarships and the Annual Conference Offering (last year this offering launched the Young Adult Missional Movement of which our 4 interns are a part) • Global UM Church: Special Sunday offerings (Peace with Justice, Human Relations Day, World Communion) and One Great Hour of Sharing which supports United Methodist Committee on Relief, our disaster response organization FLORIDA CITY INTERGENERATIONAL MISSION TRIP, MAY 22 TO MAY 25: Thirty St. Luke’s volunteers are needed to work with families from Branches UMC to build a new playground on their campus. This trip is open to all ages and there will be age appropriate tasks and activities. A variety of skills will be utilized so all interested persons must go through the Missions Application Process, regardless of past experience. For information contact serve@st.lukes.org. Applications due March 6. UMW CRAFTERS: Join the United Methodist Women in making beautiful, handmade items for the annual bazaar! Join us in the Fellowship Hall any Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (bring a bag lunch and come and go as you wish). Supplies and lessons available. We are looking forward to an amazing bazaar on November 14 (proceeds go to charities and missions). Questions? Call 407.876.5532 or 407.923.8409. PRESERVING AND CANNING: A new year of canning and preserving vegetables and fruits for the annual UMW bazaar is about to begin. Learn to preserve great canned goods such as pickles, jams, tomato sauce, okra, etc., by joining this fun team of creative cooks! We will train you and supply all the ingredients.
