UNEWS COMMIT Campaign Completion On Sunday, April 19 and Sunday, April 26 we will complete the COMMIT Campaign. Pick up a copy of the new brochure outlining revised projects and our campaign goal. Please complete a 2015 COMMIT Campaign Completion Pledge Card and return it in worship or to the church office by Sunday, April 26. Brochures and pledge cards are available in the church office, outside each worship venue in the information racks, and online at st.lukes.org/commit.

Pastoral Appointment Announcement At all worship services on Sunday, April 19, St. Luke's Staff/Parish Relations Committee will announce the pastors who have been appointed to St. Luke's for the coming year. The Bishop and Cabinet of the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church appoint pastors annually and choose the announcement date for these pastoral appointments.

Baptism Immersion Service St. Luke’s will celebrate baptism with our 2nd Annual Baptism by Immersion service on Sunday, May 17 at 3:00 p.m. This service is open to all children, youth and adults who would like to be baptized for the first time or who would like to participate in this special experience to reaffirm their baptism. Those being baptized for the first time should attend a class on Sunday, May 3 or Sunday, May 10 at 4:00 p.m. in the Building C Special Events Dining Room. A pastor will also be available in the chapel on May 3 and 10 at 9:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. to answer questions about the service and baptism.

Youth Confirmation Service Confirmation at St. Luke’s is a spiritual formation journey for students in seventh through twelfth grade. During confirmation classes students learn about different religions and what makes Christianity and in particular Methodism unique. Join us in the Sanctuary on Sunday, April 26 at 6:00 p.m. as class members are confirmed as full professing members of The United Methodist Church.

School of the Arts Summer Camps The St. Luke’s School of the Arts is offering four weeks of summer camps this year. All camps are full day camps (9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) with an extended day option (8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) All grade requirements are as of fall 2015. CONTEMPLATIVE WAY: This centering/silent prayer and Lectio Divina study group of men and women join together to practice prayer and study scripture. KOINONIA: This class of dynamic senior adults studies a variety of different topics and supports one another with prayer and care throughout the week. Meeting time is 9:30 a.m. in Building C Room 208-210. (50+ couples & singles) NEW SOUL MATES STUDY: Learn more about the 12 apostles through this interactive study. This class is focused on couples who want to discuss the keys to a loving and sacred relationship. The class will examine the relationship between Jesus and his disciples. This class meets at 11:00 a.m. in Building C Room 208-210. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL: Registration is now open for VBS (June 15- 19, 2015). Register at st.lukes.org/ children. Kids will explore how to put their faith into action with skateboards, running shoes, roller blades, and more! In this mission-focused VBS, kids experience God’s unstoppable love and discover how to fuel up and move in and through life with God. VBS is from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. daily (limited space for extended day). Cost is $35.00 and ages 4-rising 6th graders can attend. SERVE Within the Community TODAY IS SERVE SUNDAY: Visit the serve table in the Rotunda of Building C TODAY. Learn more about Circles® Orange County, the Cost of Poverty Experience (COPE), and other training and serving opportunities. CIRCLES INFORMATION SESSIONS: We have formed two Circles classes and are currently recruiting to form our 3rd class in Fall 2015. Each class consists of individuals working to get out of poverty (Circle Leaders) who are matched with two or three middle or upper middle-income individuals (Allies). Allies and Leaders grow friendships and walk together to support and empower each other to reach selfdetermined goals. Come to the Rotunda today to learn about becoming a Circle Ally or Leader and pick up our 2014 Annual Report! Sessions will be held on Sunday, April 19 at 9:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. in the Pastor’s Conference Room and on Wednesday, May 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the Special Events Dining Room. C.O.P.E. (COST OF POVERTY EXPERIENCE): Sign up for C.O.P.E. on either Wednesday, April 15 (at the Citrus Bowl in the Varsity Club from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.), or Sunday, April 26 (at St. Luke’s in the Fellowship Hall from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.). This two hour simulation provides a brief glimpse into what it feels like to walk in the shoes of a family just trying to survive on an income between 100% and 200% of the federal poverty level. Coalition Meal Ministry: Need community service hours or just want to serve with family and friends? St. Luke’s is preparing dinner for the Coalition for the Homeless on Saturday, April 18. We need bakers from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the St. Luke’s main kitchen in Building C; cooks from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the shelter and servers from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the shelter. Elementary age children may be involved in baking and serving. Cooks must be high school age or older. Family Promise: Help provide hospitality, meals, or serve as an evening or overnight host. Family Promise helps homeless working families become self-sufficient. This is a great way for students to earn community service hours. To sign-up or donate needed items visit www.carecalendar.org. Florida City Intergenerational Mission Trip: We are still in need of volunteers to help build a safe playground on the Branches UMC campus from May 22 to 25. Thirty building volunteers are needed. This trip is open to all ages and there will be age appropriate tasks and activities. Join the Habitat team at 493 and 555 Bethune Avenue. Workdays are Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and Saturday’s from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (lunch included). No experience necessary. UMW BAZAAR DONATIONS: Crafters are in need of floral and craft supplies, jewelry, lace doilies, doll house miniatures, buttons, Christmas decorations, garden pots/decor, mason jars, upscale new/used clothing, Christmas/regular sweaters, antiques and $10 Publix gift certificates. Team captains and coordinators are also needed to assist with scheduling teams. Set Design: Work with the Worship Design Team to bring each sermon series to life in our worship. Bass and Guitar Players: Has God blessed you with the gifts to play your instrument in worship? Video Teams: Help with taping and editing the 9:30 a.m. services for both worship venues. Assist With Worship Slides: Advance the slides during re•define, Contemporary Worship service at 11:00 a.m. Training is provided. Sanctuary Choir: If you love to sing, join us in the choir room (Building B Room 209) Wednesdays from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The choir sings every Sunday at the 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. services.
