Our culture defines the church according to a building or the hour of 11:00 a.m. Sunday morning, but what if you could find a community of people who believed church was a catalyst for change? What if Church was more about working together to make a difference in our community rather than just meeting together for an hour a week? As a congregation we value Christ-centered love lived out in acceptance, hospitality, community, discipleship and service. BECOME A ST. LUKER...TAKE THE FIRST STEPS Many people ask how to get connected at St. Luke's, how to learn more about being a disciple and what it takes to be a member. We want to make sure people really know who we are as St. Luke's and as United Methodists as well as how and why we worship, connect, grow and serve in the ways we do! We have developed an entirely new FIRST STEPS PROCESS to learn about Christianity, the Bible, United Methodism and St. Luke's. Step 1: Attend a Welcome Gathering The next gathering will be held on April 28 at 12:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Step 2: Attend Four Learn Classes Each class is one month long. If you are new or returning to church you will take all four classes. If you are transferring from another church where you have been active, you will take the two classes on United Methodism and St. Luke's 101. Step 3: Attend the Decide Class This one month class will be held four times a year and will be taught by St. Luke's Leadership. We will concentrate on the spiritual disciplines, how we read the Bible, commitment and missions. At the end of this class you will have the opportunity to consider joining the church and becoming a member on one of our Membership Celebration Sundays. Campers can choose from a variety of half-day options in music, art, culinary and performance. Take the Stage Camp July 29 to Aug 2 Grades 1-8 (as of Fall 2013). Campers will enjoy acting, singing and dancing on stage while creating a musical theater production with a great message. Cooking is normally complete by 5:30 p.m. Servers may meet in the Fellowship Hall by 5:00 p.m. to carpool or go directly to the coalition to serve from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Bakers meet in Building C Kitchen from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for baking.
