During confirmation classes students learn about different religions and what makes Christianity and in particular Methodism unique. Job Opening Director of Recreation and Family Ministries: St. Luke’s is seeking a Director of Recreation and Family Ministries, who will create, develop, implement and oversee all aspects of this revisioned ministry. This ministry will be a center of activity where the love of Christ is shown through Christian fellowship. The director will also have a significant role in supporting Grow ministries through special events, camps, family outings and weekly programming. The qualified candidate will be a self-starter with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management and/or Recreation with a commitment to the United Methodist Church and Wesleyan theology. They must also have an understanding of budget accountability to offset program costs. Excellent organizational skills, working knowledge of multiple program areas, and strong interpersonal skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks are a must. Experience in running recreation programs is preferred. Must have proven ability to supervise contract employees and volunteers in various capacities. Baptism Immersion Service St. Luke’s will celebrate baptism with our 2nd Annual Baptism by Immersion service on Sunday, May 17 at 3:00 p.m. This service is open to all children, youth and adults who would like to be baptized for the first time or who would like to reaffirm their baptism. Those being baptized for the first time should attend a class on Sunday, May 3 or Sunday, May 10 at 4:00 p.m. in the Building C Special Events Dining Room. A pastor will also be available in the chapel on May 3 and 10 at 9:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. to answer questions about the service and baptism. R.S.V.P. requested but not required. R.S.V.P. to connect@st.lukes.org. Indicate the number in your party and if anyone in your group is being baptized for the first time. Due to limited parking, a shuttle will be provided from the church parking lot beginning at 2:00 p.m. Please meet at the circle drive. The shuttle will run approximately every 15 minutes.

School of the Arts SummerPledged Camps

The St. Luke’s School of the Arts is offering four weeks of summer camps this year. All camps are full day camps (9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) with an extended day option (8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) All grade $2,193,687 requirements are as of fall 2015.  Children: Children will learn about Jesus as He spreads God’s message beyond Easter. Stop by the welcome window on the first floor of Building B for room assignments. 5th and 6th Grade (MERGE): A collaborative ministry between Children’s and Youth Ministries designed specifically for 5th and 6th graders where activities connect scripture with everyday life. CONTEMPLATIVE WAY: This centering/silent prayer and Lectio Divina study group of men and women join together to practice prayer and study scripture. KOINONIA: This class of dynamic senior adults studies a variety of different topics and supports one another with prayer and care throughout the week. Meeting time is 9:30 a.m. in Building C Room 208-210. (50+ couples & singles) NEW SOUL MATES STUDY: Learn more about the 12 apostles through this interactive study. This class is focused on couples who want to discuss the keys to a loving and sacred relationship and examine the relationship between Jesus and his disciples. This class meets at 11:00 a.m. in Building C Room 208-210. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL JUNE 15-19: Register now at st.lukes.org/children. Kids will explore how to put their faith into action with skateboards, running shoes, roller blades, and more! In this mission-focused VBS, kids experience God’s unstoppable love and discover how to fuel up and move in and through life with God. VBS is from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. daily (limited space for extended day). Cost is $35.00 and ages 4-rising 6th graders can attend. CIRCLES INFORMATION SESSION MAY 6: Two Circles classes are now meeting and recruitment has begun for the fall 2015 class. Each class consists of individuals working to get out of poverty (Circle Leaders) who are each matched with two or three middle or upper middle-income individuals (Allies). Allies and Leaders grow friendships and walk together to support and empower each other to reach selfdetermined goals and to end poverty, one family at a time. Come learn how you can become an Ally or a Circle Leader and pick up our 2014 Annual Report at a Circles Information Session on Wednesday, May 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the Special Events Dining Room. (COST OF POVERTY EXPERIENCE) APRIL 26: Attend TODAY – no pre-registration required - in the Fellowship Hall from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. This two-hour simulation provides a glimpse into what it feels like to walk in the shoes of a family trying to survive on an income between 100% and 200% of the federal poverty level. C.O.P.E. is an experience for people who, instead of talking about poverty, choose to be a part of the solution to end it. Training is appropriate for middle school age and older individuals. St. Luke’s is participating on Saturday, May 9 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (lunch provided) at 555 Bethune Avenue, Winter Garden. There are tasks for every level and a chance to sport a pink hardhat! EDUCATIONAL IMPACT – PINELOCH CARNIVAL: On Friday, May 29 from 8:45 a.m. to 1:50 p.m., Pineloch Elementary School is holding its end of year carnival. They need 15-20 volunteers to make the event a success for students. Can you help for any of the shifts? (7:00 a.m. - Set up, 8:45 a.m. to 9:55 a.m. - Half of 2nd grade and 3rd grade, 10:10 a.m. to 11:20a.m. - Kindergarten, 11:50 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. - 1st grade and half of 2nd, 1:15 p.m. to 2:25 p.m. - 4th/5th grade, 2:25 p.m. - Clean up). CRAFT SUPPLIES NEEDED: UMW Bazaar crafters are in need of floral & craft supplies, jewelry, lace doilies, doll house miniatures, buttons, Christmas decorations, garden pots/decor, mason jars, upscale used/new clothing, Christmas/regular sweaters, antiques and $10 gift certificates to Publix. Video Teams: Help with taping and editing the 9:30 a.m. services for both worship venues. Assist With Slides: Advance slides during contemporary worship at 11:00 a.m. Training provided.
