Today's Worship Prelude Gathering for Worship *Call to Worship *Passing the Peace and Welcome Bethune-Cookman Concert Chorale (Traditional Worship Services) Bethune-Cookman Gospel Choir (Contemporary Services) Bethune-Cookman University, located in Daytona Beach, Florida, is one of twelve historically black colleges related to the United Methodist Church. The college was created in 1923 as a result of the merger of the Daytona Educational and Industrial Training School for Negro Girls founded by Mary McLeod Bethune and the Cookman Institute in Jacksonville. In 2007, Bethune-Cookman achieved University status through the offering of advanced degrees. Dr. Trudie Kibbe Reed is the fifth president of the University and the first woman to hold this prestigious position since Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune. St. Luke's United Methodist Church welcomes the Bethune-Cookman University Concert Chorale for its twenty-eighth annual visit, under the direction of Professor Damon H. Dandridge, in all three traditional worship services today. St. Luke’s also welcomes the Bethune-Cookman University Inspirational Gospel Choir, under the direction of Vertellis Kendrick, in contemporary worship as well as re·define this morning. This is always an exciting and uplifting time of music and ministry! A special offering will be received to support the important educational ministry at this United Methodist University. *Please stand in praise to God if you are able. The flowers in the Sanctuary are given by Beth Peacock in love and honor of her mother, Dot Perry, celebrating her 89th birthday.
