The Rev. Jennifer Stiles Williams TODAY WE WELCOME THE REV. BRITT GILMORE, MISSIONARY IN BELFAST: Britt grew up at St. Luke's and felt a call to ordained ministry and the mission field. He is currently serving as a pastor at the East Belfast Mission. He is married to Alison Gilmore who is also a United Methodist missionary and a counselor with Skainos. They are both covenant missionaries with St. Luke's and receive financial support. They have three young children whose grandparents are members of St. Luke's. PRAYER CHAPEL: If you are in a crisis due to your health, your job, or in other areas in your life, come to the Chapel for prayer Sundays at 10:30 a.m. and put those burdens on the altar.

On Sunday, June 9, the church conference voted to move forward with releasing the remaining Bodybuilding funds, forming a building committee and forming a campaign committee. JULY Update Working to create a presence in East Winter Garden strengthening relationships by identifying community leaders, developing community partners and organizational infrastructure • July 21, the phase 1 building committee will meet with architects and worship staff • Create a Campaign Committee for fall 2013 campaign to create worship theme, informational material, prospectus and build lay volunteer teams • Congregation should begin receiving Save the Dates cards in the mail •

Connect RAGTIME: RAGTIME is not only a powerful portrait of life in turn-of-the-century America, but a relevant tale for today. Based on E.L. Doctorow's distinguished novel, the musical intertwines the stories of three extraordinary families as they confront history's timeless contradictions of wealth and poverty, freedom and prejudice, hope and despair, and what it means to live in America. Performances are August 16 and 17 at 7:30 p.m. and August 18 at 4:00 p.m. in the Coleman Memorial Gymnasium. Tickets go on sale July 28, are $10 each and will be available in the Building C Welcome Hall between worship services, online at st.lukes.org/ragtime, and in the church office during normal business hours. *Caution: This show contains difficult subject matter regarding race, gender and violence. Please be aware when bringing children under the age of 13. Childcare will be available, details to follow. SHARE YOUR VOICE: All are welcome! Rehearsal for the Ragtime Choir is held Wednesdays from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. in Building B Room 209. Technical and dress rehearsals start Monday, August 12 at 6:30 p.m. BAPTISM CLASS: TODAY at 4:30 p.m. in the Special Events Dining Room. No childcare is available. CLUSTER GROUP SUNDAY: Stop by the Building C Welcome Hall between worship services on August 4 and check out all of the St. Luke’s cluster groups. Representatives from each group will be present to share about what makes their group unique and how you can get connected. Grow Spark the Imagination Camp July 22 to 26 Grades K-6 (as of fall 2013). Campers choose from half-day options in music, art, cooking and performance.

LIVING THE SERIES-GOING DEEPER IN OUR VALUES: “Living the Series” will be offered occasionally throughout the year as an additional component to the sermon series. Pastor Bill’s Exegesis class is a primer for the sermon, and this gathering will be conversational and an empowering response to the word proclaimed. The first opportunity will begin alongside our “Reflect: Values that Change the World” sermon series. We will dive into our core values (hospitality, community, discipleship, service, acceptance), discussing how they relate to erasing prejudices, reconciliation, and advocacy. This time together will prepare our hearts for the Ragtime musical (Aug. 16-18). Join us Sunday, July 28 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Attic. E100: The American Bible Society has selected the 100 most essential passages in the Bible. GLOBAL LEADERSHIP SUMMIT 2013 AUGUST 8 & 9 Colin Powell has served as senior level advisor to four U.S. presidents in the roles of Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, National Security Advisor and was unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate to become the 65th U.S. Secretary of State. He served in the U.S. Army for 35 years, rising to the rank of four-star general and is the founder of the not-for-profit organization America's Promise Alliance as well as the Colin L. Powell Center for Leadership and Service. Powell recently released his book "It Worked For Me: In Life and Leadership." LUKE’S INVITED TO IFTAR, BREAKING OF THE FAST, AT JAMA MASJID JULY 22: Our friends at the Jama Masjid have once again invited St. Luke’s to join in the spiritual discipline of fasting during Ramadan and breaking the fast with our Muslim friends on Monday, July 22 at approximately 8:20 p.m. To prepare for this experience you are invited to attend “Iftar 101” on Sunday, July 21 at 2:00 p.m. in the Attic. The Iftar and Prayer Service will be held at the Jama Masjid located at 11543 Ruby Lake Rd. This is an amazing offer of hospitality from our neighbors and a wonderful way to better understand the Muslim faith. HELP US COMPLETE THE HABITAT FOR HUMANITY HOUSE: We are coming to the home stretch in finishing construction on our latest Habitat house in Winter Garden. A final push of committed volunteers for construction and to provide and serve lunch is needed. Within Our Church JOB OPENINGS: St. Luke’s Child Development Center is looking for two Lead Caregivers for our “Parents Day Out” Program. This program is designed for toddlers’ social and educational development and incorporates potty training and requires lifting and bending. The program follows the Orange County School Schedule with work hours from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Preference will be given to candidates with CDA certifications or those who are close to completion.
