Jennifer Stiles Williams SUNDAY PROGRAMMING FOR ALL AGES: •Infants through pre-school age children continue to meet downstairs in Building B. •Elementary aged children will worship with their families TODAY and September 1. •Merge, for incoming 5-8 graders, will meet for the last time TODAY at 9:30 a.m. in the Attic of Building C, and will resume Sunday, September 8 at 9:30 a.m. with 5th and 6th graders meeting in the Attic of Building C and 7th and 8th graders meeting in Building C Room 205-207. •Young Adults Sunday School is studying Adam Hamilton’s “Christianity’s Family Tree.” This study explores many Christian denominations. Meet at 9:30 a.m. in the workroom of Building C (1st floor). On September 8 this class will begin meeting in Building C Room 201-203. Baptism Class: Sunday, September 8 at 4:30 p.m. in Building C Special Events Dining Room. No childcare is available at this time. On Sunday, June 9, the church conference voted to move forward with releasing the remaining Bodybuilding funds, forming a building committee and forming a campaign committee. The items listed below are some of the next steps and events that you can expect in the upcoming months. •

AUGUST Update We have had a successul Meet the Teacher event at Maxey Elementary School. Each classroom also received a care package full of supplies that teachers often purchase with their own money. • Building relationships with potential community partners, community leaders, school administrators and government officials. • The phase 1 building committee is preparing an updated facilities optimization presentation for the September 8 Church-wide Gathering. • The Commit Campaign Committee will meet with a campaign consultant on September 8. • Preparations are being made to help St. Lukers share why and how they will commit to leave a legacy, provide leadership and show love to others at St. Luke's and in the community. •

• September 8, 2013 Community Gathering Event • 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Connection and Communion Team training sessions to include ushers, greeters, communion servers and preparation teams, as well as connection point personnel. Serve Within the Community UMW RUMMAGE SALE: Saturday, September 28 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Donated items can be dropped off in the Fellowship Hall Thursday and Friday before the sale. The women could use donations such as housewares, clean clothes, furniture, knick-knacks, shoes, toys - just about anything! Remember "your donation could be someone else's treasure!" All proceeds will go to missions and charities. The United Methodist Women appreciate your support! HABITAT FOR HUMANITY: We are finishing construction on our latest Habitat house in Winter Garden! Volunteers are needed to help with construction and to provide and serve lunch. Construction takes place Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at 720 Park Avenue, Winter Garden. PRAYERS FOR OUR FLORIDA CITY INTERGENERATIONAL MISSION TEAM: A team of 30 people of all ages joins our long-time mission partner, Branches Ministry in Florida City, from Friday, August 30 through Monday, September 2. The team will be doing preparation work for the upcoming ground-breaking for their new facility (the church was destroyed in a fire 3 years ago), connecting with the children and youth ministries, and helping with staff training for the new school year. Please keep them in your prayers. VOLUNTEER for Educational IMPACT: Sign up today in the Building C Welcome Hall to serve at Pineloch Elementary School or Mollie Ray Elementary School. Change the life of a student through public school volunteering by assisting in the classroom or for special events. Help students in grades K-5 with reading, math, science, computers, music, or with the media center. Special events require volunteering one day during the day or on a Saturday. Twelve new volunteers are needed to cover all classes. The next training class is scheduled for August 29 at 6:30 p.m. in Building C Room 201. CHANGE THE LIFE OF A CHILD IN ETHIOPIA: St. Luke's partners with Compassion International and Lideta Mekane Yesus church in Ethiopia to ensure that children in extreme poverty have their basic needs met. For just $38 per month help a child get education, health care, supplemental nutrition, access to after school programs and a case manager. TODAY is the last day to receive a package with information about children waiting to be sponsored from the community where our partner church, Mekane Yesus, is located.
