Circles Program Changes Lives Circles is a cornerstone ministry for the community transformation initiative in East Winter Garden. WHAT IS A CIRCLE ALLY? Allies are middle to upper income community members who want to be in a supportive, intentional, befriending relationship with an individual or family (Circle Leader) working to get out of poverty. Circle Allies support the Circle Leader to accomplish his or her plan. Current Circle Leader desires include starting a new business, creating a more efficient household budget, and going to college. Do you have skills to help make these dreams become a reality and make a longterm difference in another person’s life? Can you spare a couple of hours a week for the next 6 months? CONNECT NAMI MENTAL ILLNESS SUPPORT GROUPS: On Tuesday, September 23 the support group for those with mental illness will meet at 6:30 p.m. in Building B Room 201. Contact Tracy Lutz at 407.253.1900. Both groups meet on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. FAMILY CAMPOUT: The second annual St. Luke's Fall Family Campout starts Friday, October 17 at 5:30 p.m. There will be food trucks available (at a cost), campfire songs, stories in the pumpkin patch, s’mores and a hot breakfast. The cost of $25.00 per family includes breakfast and snacks. Bring your own tent, RV, or camper (no hook-ups available, showers and bathrooms will be open in Building C). Space is limited. Reservations will begin September 15 at st.lukes.org/children. GROWING UP WITH YOUR CHILDREN: Dr. Joanne MacPherson discusses the challenges of raising children and the demands it places on parents. "Manners Matter", Etiquette for Today's Kids: This nine-week interactive class for grades 3 to 5 reinforces proper etiquette and good manners along with the ability to interact with others. Holiday Soundz of Glee: Students in grades 4 to 6 enjoy singing their favorite holiday vocal music in the styles of pop, musical theater, rock and roll, jazz and others. So We Know You Can Dance!: This 15-week course for beginning or experienced dancers teaches contemporary, lyrical and modern dance styles similar to those featured on the popular television series. Grades 6-12 meet on Thursdays from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and grades 9-12 on Tuesdays from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. EVENING EXERCISE: Join Chris Smith, certified personal training and group exercise instructor for circuit type training and cardio exercise. GROW NEW COUPLES CLASS “SOUL MATES”: This new class for couples in their 20s, 30s, and 40s will discuss the keys to a loving and sacred relationship. Marriage and children are not a requirement, but certainly an asset. The class starts Sunday, September 21 at 11:00 a.m. in Building C Room 201-203. WEDNESDAY AFTER SCHOOL/WEDNESDAY THRIVE PROGRAMMING: Wednesday afternoons children (grades K-5) learn about themselves and their family through spiritual formation rotations, creative expression, and games. Wednesday evening children make connections through spiritual formation rotations, mission activities, and expressive arts. "EVERY THREE SECONDS" SHOWING AT LOCAL FILM FESTIVAL: On Sunday, September 21 at 5:00 p.m. at the Bush Auditorium at Rollins College. Award-winning filmmaker Daniel Karslake (For the Bible Tells Me So) tells the unforgettable stories of five regular folks - a boy, a college student, a thirty-something and two seniors. HELP END THE CYCLE OF HOMELESSNESS: Five times a year St. Luke’s partners with Family Promise of Greater Orlando seeking to keep families together in the face of homelessness. During the week of October 12-19, classrooms will be transformed into bedrooms and the Fellowship Hall into a common living space.
