Advent

Advent is the season when we prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ. Advent always begins four Sundays before Christmas Day. This year St. Luke’s has put together a list of ways you can Worship, Connect, Grow, and Serve during the season. WORSHIP Join us for one of our Christmas Eve Services. December 23 - Christmas Preeve Service Times: 6:15 p.m., 7:15 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. (These services are intended for church members and allow more room for visitors on Christmas Eve.) December 24 - Christmas Eve Service Times: 3:45 p.m., 5:00 p.m., 6:15 p.m., 7:30 p.m., 8:45 p.m. 10:00 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. CONNECT Bethlehem’s Gift Christmas Concert: TONIGHT at 5:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. Admission is free but tickets are required. All tickets have been distributed. If additional seating is available after the start of the show, ushers will fill seats on a first come, first served basis. GROW Looking for that Christmas spirit? Join a class to help make the most of this Christmas season. MORNING EDITION: This women’s Bible study meets at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesdays in the Office Conference Room of Building C for an Advent study in preparation for Christmas. SERVE Within the Community •Wish Tree: Return UNWRAPPED gifts to the bins in the Welcome Hall of Building C, TODAY through Tuesday December 10. Gifts will be given to the Orange County Public School Social Workers and to a Christmas event in East Winter Garden. Help sort gifts on Wednesday, December 11. •Bags of Grace: These will go to families in public schools who qualify for free or reduced lunch. Food lists are available online and in campus brochure racks. Bring donations to the Welcome Hall by TODAY. Volunteers are needed to sort and load trucks at 12:15 p.m. (after worship)—you are welcome even if you didn’t sign up previously. •Global Fair Trade Market: TODAY from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Ten Thousand Villages will be selling fair trade gifts in the Welcome Hall. •Christmas Coalition Dinner: Our monthly Saturday night dinner on December 21 at the Coalition for the Homeless gets a boost for the holidays. We cook and bake special items; serve families at the table (instead of a buffet line); and provide gift bags to the men in the pavilion. Volunteer needs include: 12 people for the pavilion assembling and passing out bags from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., 20 bakers at the church from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., 25 cooks from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Coalition, and 25 servers from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Coalition.
