This elective unit focuses on the analysis and design of user experience in electronic and non-electronic games. This is crucial as a game designer can only facilitate a target play experience and needs to control as much the interface parameters in order to keep control on the final experience. Contents include: Psychological Game Design Considerations; Game Interface Design; Play and Player Analysis and Prototyping, Playtesting and Game Tuning. At the end of this unit the student will have acquired the responsibility and autonomy to: — design for diverse populations and foster a variety of gameplay styles; — balance player control schemes; — apply game-tuning strategies in light of feedback from actual play. The assessment for this unit will be computed using the following weighting system: — 60% Assessed Coursework — 40% Examinations
