This unit is designed to introduce students to the notion of systems programming and low-level programming. Students will familiarise themselves with the Linux terminal and terminal based text editors and compilers such as the GCC. They will be able to prepare simple low-level programs in the C language and execute them in the above mentioned environment. At the end of this unit the student will have acquired the responsibility and autonomy to: — explain the importance of Systems Programming; — write and execute programs for the Linux Environment. The assessment for this unit will be computed using the following weighting system: — 70% Assessed Coursework — 30% Examinations
