Writers and designers of interactive works need a solid understanding of traditional narrative theory, character development, plot, dialogue, back-story, and world creation, as well as experimental approaches to storytelling in literature, theatre, and film with relevance to games. Contents include: Story in Non-Interactive Media; Writing for other Media; and Abstract Audiovisual Narratives. At the end of this unit the student will have acquired the responsibility and autonomy to: — think abstractly and concretely about ‘story’; — describe story in terms of setting, characters, and events. The assessment for this unit will be computed using the following weighting system: — 30% Assessed Coursework — 70% Examinations
