ST. MARY'S SCHOOL, CALNE NEWS SHEET NUMBER 58
OCTOBER 1973
EDITORIAL This past year has probably been one of the most eventful in the life of the school as it has been both our "Centenary Year" and our first year with Mrs. Bailey as Headmistress. In September, we all had great pleasure in welcoming Mrs. Bailey into the school and were amazed at the great speed with which she learnt all our names and ways (both good and bad!). We sincerely hope that the rest of her years with St. Mary's will be very happy ones. As a whole, the year passed smoothly with many enjoyable outings to various plays, concerts and places of interest including the recent visits to Wimbledon and to the Bath Festival concerts. At the end of the school year came Founders' Day, when we celebrated our centenary with a full and happy weekend, beginning on the Friday evening with a jolly wine and cheese party, and ending on the Saturday with a moving chapel service. The many cheerful and familiar faces made the occasion a truly memorable one. As everyone had been so busy, we were granted a holiday on the following Monday, which was greatly appreciated and helped us to recover before the final weeks of the term. JENNY LOCH
