Our program offers stimulating and fun classes for students from preschool through eighth grade.

Arts, Crafts and More Bisque Painting Grade: K - 8
During this 7 week program, students will have the opportunity to learn how to decoratively glaze pottery. Students will have a variety of pieces to choose from, and they will be taught the skills to create a fun mixture of projects that are both functional and fun. The pieces for the class are constantly rotating, so there is always something new. Students who wish to take the class a repeated time will be taught more advanced techniques and be able to create sets of pieces. Space is limited so sign up soon. Mixed Media Class Grade: K - 8 During this 8 week Program, students will create different pieces using a variety of materials. We will create 3-dimensional items on a flat canvas surface. We will use paint, gel medium, vellum paper, text, plaster, as well as, a variety of other things to create unique masterpieces. Space is limited so sign up soon. Ceramics Class Grade: K - 8 During this 8 week program, students will work with clay through many of its stages. We create projects one week, then glaze them the following week. We rotate this process throughout the weeks to create at least 4 pieces. Students will have the chance to do several hand-building techniques, including additive and subtractive methods. The students will learn about the firing process and what each stage is. We do new projects every session so there is no concern if this is your first time or fifth time. The more experienced students will be pushed in to more advanced directions. Space is limited so please sign up soon. The Art of the Cartoon Cel Grade: 2 - 8 (open to students in Grade One based upon skills proficiency) Students will focus upon the art of animation and the creation of a series of cartoon cels in this workshop involving mixed media. They will view original “Popeye” cartoon cels and will be given the opportunity to invent original characters or to reinvent popular animated characters. Each cel will represent a three-step process – a base drawing, acrylic painting of that drawing, and creation of a suitable background to accompany the painted cel! Disney’s full length feature film “The Princess and the Frog” marked the return of hand drawn cels in the creation of a feature film (the visual quality of a hand drawn cel is exceptional, as compared to computer generated art, and Disney artists acknowledged this and have pledged to continue to incorporate hand drawn and painted work into future Disney endeavors). Piano/Keyboard class Grade: K - 2 Bring the joy of music to your child through an interactive piano/keyboard class. This exciting class will promote musical literacy in the same way children learn language: Listen, speak (sing and play), write and read musical notation. Beginning Orchestral Instruments Grade: K - 5 This class is for students who are brand new to an orchestral instrument or would like to brush up their skills on an instrument at a basic level. Students will work on properly holding and forming a sound on their instrument, learning to read and respond to music notation, learning the fingerings on their instrument, and playing simple songs. A book will be provided for each student. Orchestral instruments include: violin, viola, cello, bass, trumpet, trombone, French horn, euphonium, flute, clarinet, alto saxophone. Please note that all students are expected to bring their own instruments for the duration of the class. Exploring Puppetry Grade: K - 5 Puppets are great tools for expression and creativity. Plus they are just plain fun! In this class students will learn about the different types of puppets including hand puppets, tennis ball puppets, and marionettes. Children will learn the fundamentals of classical ballet including basic ballet terminology, the positions for feet and arms, barre work and simple combinations across the floor. Let the dance party begin! It’s time to have a blast and learn the latest dance moves! This beginning/intermediate dance class combines hip hop dancing with pop and jazz. Classes will start by warming up to the latest hip hop dance songs. Next a short hip hop routine will be broken down and taught to students. Finally they will perform it in small groups of 3-5 to an applauding audience (the rest of the class). The 45 minute class is fun, fast, and a great workout as well!
