FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER
By Rick Schultz, General ManagerJULY/AUGUST 2021
Happy New Year! I wish you good health, happiness, and financial stability in 2023 and for our club, finalization of our Chapter 11!
With that said, we will have our first court hearing pertaining to the status of our reorganization plan with the judge on January 10th. Our plan is basically the same as it was back in May with trying to get the debt lowered to a point that we can sell it to someone who will keep it fully private, has deep pockets and is willing to reinvest back into our club immediately Our legal team has been working diligently to get everything filed and Elisa has worked hard preparing the weekly and monthly financial reports We will absolutely let the membership know more as things progress
After a very busy November and December, our food and beverage department is still going full steam ahead as it doesn’t look like it will let up much in January and February; which helps our cash flow immensely! Great job to the entire team for their hard work making it all happen!
While our non-member revenues are increasing, our membership numbers are not At this time of the year, it is not uncommon for some to say they just aren’t using the club enough, so they want to resign, but I feel that our situation has more asking themselves that question Add in the economic concerns in the world, and I understand losing members right now I hope that everyone reading this has faith that the club is not going to close; we will survive and are confident that when we come out of reorganization, we will be more financially stable!
Right now, people pay nothing down with no mandated time commitment so what is the risk of joining? If someone decides they don’t want to be here, just give a 30-day notice and they can walk away Make sure you tell your friends and family about our club!
Kudos also go to Harj and his team of hard-working individuals. His crew might be small right now, but it is mighty and have the course still in great shape after the rains and winds we had a few weeks ago. They’ve renovated the greenside bunker on #10 and it looks great! Thanks also go to West Coast Golf Construction for coming in to help finish the work, and for cutting us a great deal on the price!
Usually, I’d be announcing the Board of Director election results but since we are in the middle of reorganizing, the Board made a resolution that keeps the Board as is until we come out of Chapter 11 With that said, we had Ron Beeman resign from the club due to health issues which created an opening on the Board Per the by-laws, the Board can appoint someone to fill the term, and thankfully Mike Butler accepted their appointment Mike was their choice because he was highly involved with the banking committee and sits on the Finance Committee Mike is also a previous Board member, so he has lots of experience behind the scenes as well
As we look back at 2022, once again, it was another transformational year for the club as we finally made the big decision on our “destiny”, as I phrased it in last year’s article It has been a stressful situation for the Board and me, but we feel confident that we hired the right professionals, have the numbers to prove it, and we will get a favorable judgment
We are also going to need your help to fulfill our destiny so please hang in there with us and invite your friends and family to join us! I have great faith that SGCC will be in a much better place when I write my 2024 January newsletter article!
ON THE COURSE
By "Harj" Harjindar Toor, SuperintendentReshaping of the bunker on 10 went very well Thanks go out to West Coast Golf Construction for shaping and Andy Raugust our architect for helping with the design of the bunker Of the sand removed roughly one-third was put back into the bunker with proper drainage This is an example of how nice they all can be with the appropriate resources. During the winter we will continue to correct other bunkers just not to this detail. We will cut back the overgrown edges which are over three feet.
Currently as small as our team is, they are the best crew anyone can ask for Going into the new year our staff comprises of six full-time and four part-time workers Please forgive us for some of the details on the course not getting addressed We are doing what we can, as quickly as we can I do appreciate all the feedback I get from all of you, please do not hesitate to continue to give me any constructive criticism or make me aware of something you might see on the course
This is the time of year that worms like to come up We are going to address the worms mainly on the tees, approaches, and the worst areas of the fairways. We were able to deal with the worms in front of four approaches last winter and can see a significant difference this time around. This is also a great time of the year to put some woodchips around the trees. You will see us dumping woodchips in areas like behind the fifteen green and sixteenth tee Will work with the Greens Committee on other areas for consideration
The course has received well over two and a half inches of rain and handled it well. There are a few drainage issues like on seven fairway which need to be addressed. Also, fairways four, five and six have some wet areas, which will need some attention We could use more rain for obvious reasons, but it would help to get a significant amount of rain to truly understand how to resolve the wet areas for a more long-term solution
Thanks again for your support and patience I wish you a happy new year filled with good health, happiness, and many rounds of golf! See you on the course, Harj

TUESDAY 9 HOLE LADIES GROUP
By Janet Salvetti, Secretary, Tuesday LadiesOn December 13th the Tuesday Ladies Golf Group ended 2022 at our Holiday & Awards Luncheon held in the beautiful Fireside Room Most of our group was in attendance with a few faces that we have missed due to personal circumstances, nice to see them at the luncheon! Marilyn Rauzi has been not able to join us for golf in the past few months but attended our luncheon where we took advantage to celebrate her 90th birthday which was back in August Happy Birthday Marilyn! Joining us also was Barbara Tippett who has
retired from the frustration of golfing, but was as lovely as ever at our luncheon. Following a wonderful lunch, our team Captain Lindsey Kauffman announced our awards for 2022. The most coveted awards are those that have member names inscribed on perpetual trophies that remain a part of the club in the awards outside of the shop when you have a
minute, take time to look at the names and years on the trophies to get feel for how long our Club has been in existence and for those that have gone before us

In my last article, due to space, I could only introduce you to our newest member, Kathy Hanley, and indicated I would give you some more “talk points” about her when you see her around the club: As she told me:
“When I retired in January from years in real estate, I finally had time to focus on learning golf. I am finding that I love golf despite my frustration in trying to improve. I spend a lot of time in Tahoe, hiking, biking, paddle boarding and snow skiing. We live on the river so, I also spend time on the Delta. I love taking photographs and have been taking art classes and enjoy painting, especially outdoor scenes of places I have been. In the past I have done a lot of traveling, usually taking one of my three children or four grandchildren. Trips with my husband this year have been exclusively devoted to planning a London wedding with our daughter or to Mexico golfing.” We enjoy
