We all want to learn in an environment that encourages achievement but at the same time feels welcoming and offers effective support. From our campuses in Stockton, Redcar and Billingham, we pride ourselves on providing a friendly and supportive study environment. Working in partnership with Teesside University, as well as leading awarding bodies and professional organisations, you will find all the exceptional teaching and expertise that you would expect from a university but with the benefits of a college. This means smaller class sizes, more one-to-one interaction with your teachers and a shared focus on your success. About us Part of the Stockton Riverside College Group, our higher education courses are delivered at Stockton Riverside College, Redcar & Cleveland College and SRC Bede Sixth Form in Billingham.

Teesside University College Partnership Stockton Riverside College and Redcar & Cleveland College are part of the new Teesside University College Partnership (TUCP). This means that many of our higher education courses are delivered in partnership with the University, giving our students the benefit of more than 80 years of knowledge and experience of delivering professional qualifications. The partnership builds on our already successful and longstanding relationship with the University. It has enabled us to further develop those links with the aim to bring together teaching excellence and provide stimulating and challenging programmes which meet the needs of the business community and respond to the economic and educational needs of the area. You have a number of payment options including: >> Paying for the course yourself >> Applying for a student loan If you are paying for your course, the College can arrange for an upfront payment in full or set up a payment plan. WHAT ARE THE LOAN OPTIONS? If you are studying for a Teesside University award, you may be eligible for a student loan from Student Finance England (SFE) to cover the cost of fees. Students on full-time programmes may be eligible for a maintenance support loan. ADVANCED LEARNER LOANS If you are planning to study a level 3-6 further education course or Access to Higher Education programme you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan. Students can apply for a loan to meet the upfront costs of their qualification, which will be paid directly to the College on their behalf. This is a great way to access courses, which previously may have been out of reach for financial reasons. Things you need to know: >> You need to be a UK resident and aged over 19 >> Advanced Learner Loans are not means tested or credit checked >> Funds are paid directly to the learning provider >> Minimum amount ÂŁ300 (maximum depends upon the course chosen) >> You must enrol on an eligible course >> Bursaries may be available for extra support for childcare* >> Applications for courses starting in September can be made online with the Students Loans Company from April >> Repayments only start when earning an annual salary of ÂŁ25,725* or more. This loan application is a credit agreement between you and the Student Loans Company

Eligible new part-time students undertaking designated higher education courses can take out a yearly tuition fee loan from Student Finance England. Your course will be free at the point of entry and you only make repayments if you are earning over ÂŁ25,725* per year once you have completed your course. The courses in this guide designated for tuition fees are: >> First Degrees >> Foundation Degrees >> Higher National Certificates The amount of fee loan a student can apply for cannot exceed the fee charged by the university.

To be eligible for financial support for a part-time undergraduate course you must meet certain criteria: >> You must have settled status in the UK i.e. be a UK citizen or have been granted indefinite leave to remain by the Home Office >> You must also have lived in the country for at least three years prior to the beginning of your course. This does not apply to people granted refugee status >> You need to be enrolling on a course, which is at least the equivalent of 25% (normally a minimum of at least 30 credits) of a full-time course >> Your course must last for at least one year Equivalent Level Qualification >> You are not entitled to the part-time tuition fee loan if you already have a qualification that is equal to or higher than the qualification you wish to study

Studying with us‌ All of our sites deliver exceptional teaching from lecturers who are experts in their field. Many of our staff come from industry background so they can give you a real insight into the demands of your subject area. Studying in a college means that class sizes are smaller. Our groups are usually made

up of around 12 to 20 students, this allows much more individual interaction with your teachers. Our students often tell us about the amazing friendships that are formed within the classes and the sense of camaraderie that exists within the groups.

HIGHER EDUCATION CENTRES You will find our dedicated Higher Education Centres at Stockton Riverside College and Redcar & Cleveland College. These offer space for higher education students to study independently, in groups or network with other students. With comfortable seating and IT facilities available, there are quiet study zones as well as areas dedicated to group study.

LEARNING RESOURCE CENTRES All of our higher education students have access to our Learning Resource Centres at Stockton Riverside College, Redcar & Cleveland College and SRC Bede Sixth Form. Providing a friendly, welcoming and engaging study environment, each has an extensive range of learning materials to support you in your studies. All of our LRCs provide a high-quality service with a variety of ICT facilities and our LRC teams are on hand to offer support.

LEISURE FACILITIES

WELCOME

To assist with your studies, all our students have access to the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). This provides a great way of communicating with your tutor and accessing programme materials. What’s more the VLE can be accessed remotely, making it easier to continue your studies at home.

As a student you will have access to our leisure facilities across all our sites, this includes refectories, a restaurant, hair and beauty salons and access to our sport and gym facilities. Come and see for yourself. TECHNOLOGY Our sites have some of the most advanced technology to help meet the demands of your course. This includes enhanced ICT facilities, sport science equipment and industry-standard equipment relevant to your field of study.

LOOK OUT FOR‌

Stockton Riverside College houses its own Margaret Armstrong Theatre where performing arts students put on a variety of productions open to external audiences. It offers the opportunity to learn the technical skills of life backstage including lighting and sound. The theatre also hosts a selection of visiting professional shows.

The SRC Sports Centre in Billingham. Here you will find a FIFA 1 standard, FA registered, flood-lit Astro pitch, a 10 metre high climbing wall with cave features, a fitness suite with a full range of gym equipment a four-court sports hall.

Our engineering department at Redcar & Cleveland College is equipped with a wide range of industry specific equipment, including a Didactic modular IPC200 industrial process control rig, DCS control system software, an ABB industry-standard robotic arm and a dedicated NEBOSH room for health and safety training.

Pre-Access to HE and Access to HE Pre-Access to HE and Access to HE courses are ideal for those who have been out of education for several years or those without the traditional qualifications for entry into university. The Pre-Access to HE programme will help to refresh your core skills while the Access to HE courses develop your knowledge and study skills ready for higher education.

NVQS National Vocational Qualifications are work-related, competence-based qualifications that are concerned with the skills and knowledge needed to do a job effectively.


WELCOME

Foundation degrees

Diplomas are work-related, competence-based qualifications reflecting the skills and knowledge needed to do a job. At level 4 and above you will acquire skills at technical, management and professional level. To undertake these programmes you need to be working in a relevant job role.

Foundation degrees (FdA/FdSc) are heavily employment-based and normally take two or three years of study. These courses offer opportunities for students from a range of backgrounds, including those with previous experience rather than conventional entry requirements.

HNCs/HNDs

Degree and degree top-up programmes On completion of our foundation degrees, you can progress on to the final top-up award, which is a one-year programme that takes your qualification up to a full degree programme.

COURSES

Higher National Certificates (level 4) and Higher National Diplomas (level 5) are designed specifically to provide skills/career-based qualifications. They also enable people to progress to honours degree programmes.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT QUALIFICATION

Diplomas

We offer a variety of routes into teaching in the post-16 sector. The full-time route is a pre-service programme for those wishing to teach literacy and/or numeracy. Practical placement experience is an essential component of this programme. We offer part-time routes, both on an in-service or pre-service basis.

Professional programmes We offer a variety of professional courses awarded by professional bodies. These are excellent preparation for or upskilling in careers such as accounting, business, financial services and human resource management.

Education and Training Course Type: BA (Hons) Length: 2 years, part-time Entry Requirements: For direct entry into the level 6 modules, entrants will be expected to have attained a foundation degree or equivalent credits (120 at level 4 and 120 at level 5) in a relevant and appropriate educational area. These entrants will follow a one-year programme. Applicants who do not already have the level 5 credits but do have an appropriate teaching qualification at level 4 (worth 120 HE credits) such as a Certificate in Education: Education and Training or relevant equivalent, will enter at level 5 and follow a two-year programme.
