NOTES FROM Stonyhurst

From the HeadMaster

Dear Stonyhurst Families

Spring is certainly upon us and the campus is looking beautiful as half term nears It has been a fantastic week – there is certainly a real atmosphere of industry as our Syntaxians and Rhetoricians receive feedback from their exams and get into the revision season.

We had an absolutely stunning concert on Thursday as six incredibly talented pianists played Beethoven piano sonatas in the Top Ref. The Moonlight Sonata was played by Luka and Mr Greenhalgh, Piano Sonata No. 20 was played by Lucas and the Pathétique was played by Peter, Sebastian and Johann. It was a truly magical evening and showcased the depth of talent in Stonyhurst Music If you were unable to attend, but would like to catch up on YouTube, please find the link here.

Stonyhurst Sport is going from strength to strength with fixtures in all our spring sports and our netball and rugby teams being in the regional and county finals respectively. We cannot wait to bring the whole school together for the Lancashire Cup final on the last night of term.

We have had a number of celebrations and informal parties (in Stonyhurst parlance ’do’s) for Aloysius House, Grammar and Syntax and look forward to more to come and more formal occasions in the future.

You are very welcome to the St Omer’s Mass on the final day of the half term at 3pm We hope to see you there. We look forward to welcoming our Syntax and Poetry families for their parents’ conference soon. Please don’t forget to book your accommodation for Great Academies.

With very best wishes for a wonderful weekend,
