Whist Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee must be the major event of the year and all of us at Stotfold Mill look forward to the celebrations in June, it is only just over a month before what promises to be the second biggest event in Stotfold of 2022. This of course is our Steam Fair and Country Show which takes place on the weekend of 7th/8th May. Returning after two years missed due to the pandemic, we are determined to make it the greatest show ever. For the first time we will have four major attractions to watch in the arena almost non-stop throughout both days. The ever popular Flyin’ Ryan daredevil stunt team returns with Ryan accompanied by Tasty Tina and Jumpin’ James performing their ‘explosive’ range of motorcycle stunts. From two wheels to four we welcome for the first time the Landrover Stunt Team with versatile 4x4 and Off-roaders promising a spectacular display. More serenely, we will be welcoming Bob with his collies demonstrating their skills at driving and shepherding a variety of animals, with audience participation. The final team in the arena will be participating in the Stotfold Mill Lamb National giving the opportunity for the audience to select and cheer on their favourite to win the event. We are also looking forward to enjoying displays from our local schools as well as performances by the Gifford Dance Academy.

If you can manage to break yourself away from all the arena attractions you will find the usual range of traders around the site as well as all the stalls in the craft tent and the opportunity for a helicopter flight. There will be a wide selection of food outlets and the beer marquee with its choice of craft ales and ciders. Music groups will be performing in the marquee during the weekend and the John Saunders stage will feature a delectable variety of entertaining acts for your gratification and delight on both days. With free admission from 5.30, the beer marquee will be open throughout Saturday evening starting with a children’s disco led by DJ Hayley and followed by live music from Mo Soul and The Swing Kid through to 11.00pm.

With so much entertainment available do not forget to visit the mill if you have not been before, to see it in action milling flour throughout the weekend – water supply permitting. Also ensure you view the Saunders Steam Collection featuring operating steam traction engines, fairground rides, mechanical organs, vintage lorries and vintage cars. Book your discounted tickets now www.stotfoldmill.com. Adults £10 Children £5 per day. Also be sure to book your ticket for Live@TheMill Friday 6th May 7.30pm where both Allergy and Delorean play live. This evening’s live gig in the marquee will undoubtedly rapidly be an online sell out.

Remember that the Mill, tearoom and shop will be open to visitors again from 12.30 until 5.00pm on Sundays March 27th and April 10th & 24th.

All of this requires a large team of willing volunteers if we are to raise the necessary funds to maintain Stotfold Watermill for future generations.
