News from St Mary’s Academy

During March we celebrated World Book Day and Red Nose Day where our children dressed up and enjoyed themed activities and competitions both in school and at home. Our Year 3 children also took part in a Faith Tour to Bedford which was not only educational but a really cultural day for them. Please see our website for more information and pictures on these fun events. Due to the two week Easter break, April is a relatively quiet month. Our last day of term before Easter will be Friday 1st April and we hope to include all of the children in some fun Easter activities outside in the warmer weather as well as an Easter Service at St Mary’s Church. After the Easter Holidays, the children will return to school on Tuesday 19th April. Our parent’s association the SMSA held two successful events in March – a Mothers Day Gift event where the children could choose their very own present from a selection for their mums, grandmothers and carers, along with the ever popular Happy Bags Collection where donated items from our families were exchanged for money! They will be busy in April too with a new initiative – a Rainbow Raffle Draw on Friday 1st with colour themed prizes as well as the ever popular Sponsored Bounce which will take place in school on Thursday 28th - We are hoping some of the funds raised will help towards more IT equipment!
