News from Fairfield Lower School
This last month has been filled with opportunities for the children at Fairfield Park Lower School to experience a broad curriculum – we started this term with a poetry recital competition, with Nursery performing nursery rhymes to our Reception to Year 4 children learning poems by heart and some even penning their own poems to perform! We also had the chance to recognise the special ladies in the lives of our Year 4 children by putting on an afternoon tea with delicious cakes and time to connect and have fun. Classrooms have been busy with children being immersed in topics, such as Year 4 learning about Greeks and participating in their own Ancient Greek Olympics and Year 3 enjoyed sampling traditional French foods and learning about key landmarks and areas in France. Our Year 1 children got to step back in time and explore how toys have developed over the last century, participating in a Toy Workshop where they became toy experts in a toy museum and also invented their own original toy. The term was brought to a close with “Grounds Week” , a special whole, school project week that enables us to focus on a wider aspect of our bespoke curriculum – the environment. We also say goodbye to a long-standing member of the leadership team, Mrs Jayne Bradley, Deputy Headteacher. Mrs Bradley retires after 14 years at Fairfield Park. She will be missed by many and her legacy will live on. We wish her all the best for the future. Did you know? Children are eligible for a place in our nursery class the term Established 2010 after they turn 3. Please contact the school for an application form or Fully insured & DBS checked download one from our website. Loving care guaranteed!
