Fairfield Lower School News

Our recent learning over the last term has been rich and filled with many opportunities for the children of Fairfield Park Lower School. We have had opportunities for children to take part in different sports events thanks to our participation in the Redborne School Sport Partnership – some children even tried some sports for the first time which was great to see! The whole school also celebrated Diwali, wearing celebratory, bright clothes and created rangoli patterns, mehndi patterned clay dishes, nature-inspired mandalas, diva lamps and also appreciated and danced to classical Indian music. We also took time to discuss and celebrate the lives of inspirational Black people throughout Black History Month and reflected this learning in poem-writing, through stories and artwork.

It’s also been enjoyable to see our children in our grounds exploring the change of seasons first hand and using these natural resources back in the classrooms. Our Eco-Council have also been busy identifying priorities for the school to ensure we continue our work to be sustainable and environmentally friendly – we were awarded the Green Flag Award this term too which means our children are passionate about keeping the environment high on all our agendas! A rite of passage in lower school is for children to put on a heart-warming Christmas performance and get everyone into the Christmas spirit. This year has been no exception; we’ve seen children polishing off their performance skills and for some they’ve surmounted their fears and stood on a stage for the very first time to participate in a show - all the children have excelled and we hope that our families have enjoyed watching them. We wish everyone a very happy Christmas and an enjoyable New Year. Value of the month:Independence
