News from Pix Brook Academy
September was a significant month for so many reasons. Most profoundly the passing of our Queen during the first week of term created a great deal of sadness in the country. Without doubt our pupils, many of whom had just joined the school were affected by this. It was, on reflection unsurprising that this should be the case given the media coverage and perhaps more importantly the fact that the Queen has been a constant in all our lives for so long. As a school we took the opportunity to sensitively and appropriately use this as a learning experience.
The historical changes that have occurred during the Queens reign are huge and for young people the simple fact that these changes happened in one person’s life are extraordinary. (They are to me!) There is also the important discussions about the passing of a person who we all feel we know. It was a really important moment for so many reasons.

For a school it is also important that life continues as usual. Our school has grown over the last three years from very small beginnings to one with approaching 600 pupils. We are very conscious of our responsibilities to our pupils and this community and are already preparing for the schools upcoming events. It is worth remembering that so many events and opportunities have been curtailed over the last few years due to COVID. It now feels as if we are finally coming to the end of this traumatic period in history and we are able to plan things “normally” . Sporting fixtures have started, the choir is being formed, trips are booked, normal parents evenings can begin and our open evening on Thursday 3rd November is being prepared. We look forward to welcoming visitors to our school in so many ways.
September is always something of a blur in schools. Suddenly the summer becomes a distant memory. For our new pupils (and parents) it is about becoming used to the new routines. This can be a challenge and we try to remember that any change can be discombobulating, however experience tells us that very quickly what was new becomes familiar and in time comfortable.
As a school and nation we are going through this process and we simply need a little patience and forbearance while we all get used to these new things. Conditions treated include spinal and extremity injuries, neck related headaches and sprains/strains.
