News from St Mary’s Academy

In the new term starting on Monday 5th September, we look forward to welcoming everyone back, especially our children and families who are starting in Reception later in the month.

In preparation for the new term we will be running a Uniform Pop-Up Shop from 11.00am to 3.00pm on Thursday 1st September.

Lesson plans for September are well underway to ensure the children return to exciting and creative educational activities. There will be lots of learning with a wide range of new topics. We will also have all of our usual Autumn term events lined up, including Harvest Festival, new parent information evening, in-school children’s photographs, Christmas Concerts and class assemblies. We will also hit the ground running with our many extra-curricular clubs… so much to look forward to!

SMSA events will start with a Happy Bags Collection on Wednesday 28th September for all those who have a sort out through the summer holidays! Donations from the wider community all welcome!

At St Mary’s we also have some very exciting news to share. We have been selected as one of only seven schools across the country to be part of the Government’s Decarbonisation Pilot. We will be working with a team from the DFE to make St Mary’s as low carbon as possible. This will involve a whole new heating system to be installed which will only use renewable energy sources as well as other fabric improvements to our buildings.

It is very early days and we will update you on progress as and when it happens.
