(mapping of)Dale Just one of many. Dale. Valley. Norway. Original. There is 21 places of some size named Dale in Norway, and a lot more if all the really small places were to be counted. Dale where they make sweaters? Dale where they used to lock up crazy people? Dale as in the hobbit?
Dale in Sunnfjord. Dale is known as the birthplace to the poet Jakob Sande. Dale is known or at least it used to be known for barrel making, but the factory burned down. Dale is known or at least it used to be known for shoe making, but the factory went bankrupt. Dale has in mysterious ways an art centre. Dale has in mysterious ways an design centre.

There is apparantly a lot of mountains in the area that have horse names because of the resemblance of horsebacks (specially visible from the south). In the mountain massive between sunnfjord and førdefjorden the biggest “horse” is called kvamshesten but commonly refered to as storehesten to avoid confusion.

It is a typical norwegian church. It is made of wood and it is painted white. It has stone tiles on the main roof and copper on the bell tower. Most of the grave stones are made of grey granite but a few, probably some of the newer ones are shiny and black. The tower is facing the west and the congregation is most likly looking towards the east. Typical.

exploded perspective
61°21’52.0”N 5°23’56.5”E
It seems to be some sort of warehouse, but all the windows suggest otherwise. In one of them there is a commercial banner saying; “gladfoten” and on the corner of the building there is a small sign saying dale sko a/s. Dale sko produced boots for the army, bunad shoes and the popular ski boot Jarle was also made there. In its heydays the factory had 240 employees and made 270 000 pair of shoes a year. In 2011 the company went bankrupt after more than 100 years of shoe production.
