Sustainability certification

The new office and reception building is certified by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). The DGNB runs an integrated awarding system for the sustainability of buildings over their entire lifecycle. The system considers the topics of ecology, economy, sociocultural and functional quality, technology, and the planning and construction process. The site quality is also evaluated.

After completion, the new office and reception building was awarded a platinum DGNB certificate, the highest award of the DGNB.

In addition to energy-efficiency criteria, a particular focus has also been on the following sustainability aspects for the new office and reception building:

Healthy and environmentally friendly building materials It is particularly important to highlight at this point that environmentally compatible building materials and products have been used in order to ensure a healthy indoor climate. All relevant products have been tested in a harmful substance assessment to ensure that they meet the maximum requirement level. To ensure the quality of the air, an ambient air measurement was taken once the building had been completed. In addition, timber obtained from sustainable forestry was used for the new buildings.

Accessibility The aim is to provide all employees and visitors with accessible use of the building. The accessible design of the building starts with accessible entry routes, continuing on to the entrance area, the communal areas, the passageways (incl. lift), accessible sanitary facilities, right the way up to the workspaces. A specialist was consulted in order to ensure accessibility.

Flexibility Easy-to dismantle and reusable partition wall systems as well as zone control of temperature, lighting, and solar protection allow the office space to be divided in a flexible manner. The building also has sufficient engineering potential to allow conversion.
