2023-2024 Officers & Board

On October 4th, Captain Dee Gill welcomed everyone to the 72nd Salty Sister Annual Meeting. This year’s meeting was a well-attended success. 2023-2024 Election Results:

• Captain – Valerie Massingill, Co-Captain – Beverly Smoak, Secretary – Jennifer O’Neill, Treasurer – Audrey Orgo, and Awards – Mik Severini. (Directors) Jill Bridges, Barbara Mehaffey, and KT Trudeau Congratulations to everyone!

• Co-Captain Valerie Massingill announced that this year’s Spirit Trophy was awarded to Mik Severini

• The Amy Joyce Uhler Race Management Award is chosen every year by the Co-Captain for her contributions toward race management. This year’s trophy was awarded to Barbara Goodman.

• The 2023 Elizabeth Priestley Optimist Memorial Trophy was presented to the Salty Sister who best exemplifies Betsy’s spirit of eternal optimism in “achieving or attempting the challenge to achieve personal goals through exceptional character, as demonstrated on the water and in her life in the context of being a Salty Sister.” This year’s recipient was a tearful, but happy Gail Falkingham!!

• This year’s FWSA Enthusiast Award, given to the sailor or spectator who went to or attended the most FWSA events either by sailing or just cheering everyone on, was awarded to Marti Cochran

• PC Els Wiemken introduced the class of 2022, who officially became Salty Sisters at the meeting! The class members are Taryn Bergstrom, Kim Kuruzovich, Virginia Campbell, Gisela Marsano, Shelly Watkins, Emily Kennedy, Wendy Saks and Anna Streufert. Their class coordinator PC Selga Sakss thanked all those who assisted in their training.
