JODY ABRAMS Active Boat Member Since 2015
I grew up in Louisiana and was part of Pontchartrain Yacht Club’s first opti fleet. This love of sailing helped lead me to Florida in 2011. My wife, Angela, and I have five wonderful children. My oldest son enjoyed sailing in the Catamaran world during his teen years, and currently my daughter enjoys sailing her opti with the SPYC Race Team. I also campaign the Melges 32, Arista, in the local area. I learned from my father that it is important to be involved in your Yacht Club, not only for yourself but for the next generation of sailors. I believe that serving in various roles of an organization is a way to give back to a sport that we care about so much.
FRED BICKLEY, JR. Active Boat Member Since 1998
I grew up at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club and have represented it as a sailor since the age of seven. I became a member as soon as I turned 21, and was actively involved as an Intermediate Member. My years as member of the Board, various committees, and as a sailing coach gave me insight into the Club workings. I met my wife during the Regata del Sol al Sol to Isla Mujeres, and proposed to her here at this Club. SPYC is a special place to me, and I believe I have and always will contribute to the Club as a member, a sailor, and hopefully again as a Board member.
FRANK FRAZE Active Member Since 1984
I was born in Gainesville, Florida but raised in St. Petersburg and have lived here nearly all of my Life (59 years). I grew up sailing at the St. Petersburg YC Sailing Center. After attending the University of Florida and graduating with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in architecture, I then moved back to St. Petersburg to start my career. I have an Architectural Engineering Firm in downtown St. Petersburg and am married with one grown son; who is also a member. I’ve been a member for 39 years and enjoyed my past terms serving on the Board and on several Committees. I am invested in SPYC and this community, and have been proud to be a contributor to the Club and its members.
MARY HACKER Active Member Since 2008
My love of yachting came by way of the Great Lakes, spending my first 21 summers boating and fishing in Sandusky, Ohio with my family on “The Mary Jane.” I have lived first-hand what the water can do for a kid growing up. My leadership and technical skills were honed by Price Waterhouse, Deloitte and Touché and later as VP/CFO of two separate banks and a bank holding company in Sarasota, Florida. I have enjoyed the camaraderie of working with the PassA-Grille Woman’s Club as Treasurer and the City of St. Pete Beach as Chair of the Finance Committee over the last 8 and 10 years, respectively. I remain committed to the hard work and dedication required to move our Club forward.
FREDERICK HIGHAM Active Boat Member Since 1996
I have been a member of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club for over 25 years and practiced law in St. Petersburg for over 45 years. The first Club Committee I served on was the Race Committee for which I continue to volunteer. I was appointed Chairman of the Marina Focus Group in 2019 and currently serve as Chairman of the Marina Redevelopment Oversight Committee which is overseeing the redevelopment of our Downtown Marina. I am excited to bring this project to a conclusion and provide the Club with a world-class marina. I want to see the Club continue its international racing and boating heritage and continue to promote its waterfront activities.

MICHAEL MAGIDSON Active Member Since 2020
I am a Pinellas County native and grew up as a member of Carlouel Yacht Club on Clearwater Beach - my great-grandparents were among the founding members - and I have always enjoyed the social atmosphere that private clubs offer. I am a local lawyer with the Johnson Pope firm and have three school-age children. I primarily use the Club for social activities - dining, hosting clients, friends and family, and as a place for after-work get-togethers. I am interested in serving on the Club’s Board of Directors at this time since I think this is a critical time in the Club’s history as we replace the downtown clubhouse and position the Club for success in its next century.

ROB MATTHES Active Boat Member Since 2016
I am a veteran of the US Navy where I worked on the nuclear capable Talos Missile System. I am an active boater and a member of SPYC for 7 years. I started boating/sailing in Chicago over 36 years ago on a J22. I have served on the Cruising Fleet Committee, Port Committee and Finance Committee. I am the Founder and President of two Technology Companies, which were started from the ground up, where tough decisions were made over the 25 years. Running two companies takes passion, focus and dedication, it’s important to listen to customers/members to set and achieve goals within financial constraints. These are the experiences I bring to the SPYC Board of Directors.
PATRICK RYAN Active Boat Member Since 2021
Joining SPYC in 2021, following our son, has been a great fit for my wife and I in this season of our life, and refreshed a tradition her parents started over 50 years ago at Pass-a-Grille YC. Since becoming a member, I’ve enjoyed contributing to the Membership Committee by using my 45 years of banking experience.
My family and I are excited about SPYC’s future. I am happy to use my community experience, which includes service as Trustee Committee Chairman at my church, as well as my financial background, to help the Club maintain its status as a quality investment for families in St. Petersburg. I hope to serve the Club as a Board Member and continue to positively impact future growth and development.
DEBBIE STOREY Active Boat Member Since 2020
I am an active member of the Club, a member of the Cruising Fleet for several years, and serve on the Cruising Fleet Committee. I also serve on the Finance Committee, giving me insight into the operations and finances of the Club.
I’m passionate about the future of our Club. We’re at an important point in our evolution, and I’d like to play a role in helping us shape that future, and represent the voices of our diverse membership base. I spent 33 years with AT&T, leading big operations, eventually as Officer and EVP. Retiring in 2016, and became the President & CEO of the AT&T Performing Arts Center in Dallas, executing a financial turnaround and successfully leading the organization through COVID. Retired in 2022.

KATE CLARDY Intermediate Member Since 2018
I began sailing a decade ago in the BVI during a leadership training course. That summer sparked a love of sailing and led me to the decision to attend USFSP to continue sailing and delve into the world of racing. St. Pete’s sailing community welcomed me with open arms, and soon, I became a proud member of this Club where I passionately pursued my place among the Salty Sisters. Currently, I’m serving as Marketing Chair on the Ocean Racing Committee, eagerly preparing to contribute to the success of our upcoming racing season. My unwavering passion for sailing, Club commitment, and my SS experience uniquely qualify me to contribute to the board of our beloved Club. I’ll uphold our highest standards and be a committed voice.
BRAD DEMINT Intermediate Member Since 2021
As a St. Petersburg native and graduate of Northeast High School, I am deeply engaged in our community. Professionally I am the senior account executive at Greenleaf Title and host of the “How to Win with Brad DeMint” podcast. Recognizing the potential of the Yacht Club’s development, I leverage my extensive real estate experience to envision growth and enhanced facilities. With a talent for identifying opportunities, I’m dedicated to strategically approaching this development for the benefit of all members. I’ve also served on the Entertainment Committee for the past 2 years planning fun, successful Club events and meeting new people, and look forward to serving you.
