Musical Notes: What a busy half term we have had in our music lessons and music clubs. Year 2 and 3 have been putting the finishing touches to the Young Voices songs as well as working on music related to their topics. It has been lovely to hear that some Year 2 children are going to the Minster in half term for the Peter and the Wolf concert, they really have enjoyed our listening work this term and are looking forward to using some of Prokofiev's ideas in their own compositions after half term. Year 1 became composers this week, creating a shimmering soundscape for their Tell me a Dragon story. The children were able to think carefully about how to play quietly and were ably led by their class conductors to make sure the music didn't get too loud. The children took their inspiration from Hans Zimmer's Earth. Reception have been experimenting with percussion instruments this term and have worked really hard on their assembly songs ready for their grown ups to hear after half term. Nursery had a special visit from George in 1A on Monday, George showed the children his Chinese lion costume and danced for us, thank you George for sharing so much information with us! This term Year 3 have started ukulele club, they have only had four session but can already play 3 pieces and 2 different chords, a fantastic effort! We are very much looking forward to the Whole School Concert at York Minster on Monday 26th February. The choir will be singing and a few of our Year 3 instrumentalists will also be playing. Tickets are free and available here https://www.eventbrite.com/e/st-peters-school-whole-foundation-concert-tickets795968121077?utm-campaign=social&utm-content=attendeeshare&utmmedium=discovery&utm-term=listing&utm-source=cp&aff=ebdsshcopyurl

The concert starts at 6pm and will be finished by 7.15pm, all our families are very welcome to attend.

We had a visit from the 13-18 brass group this afternoon. The children enjoyed a concert of different pieces from a variety of genres. The favourite piece was the Wallace and Gromit theme tune! Thank you to Mr Brewer, it's always lovely to hear live music, especially when played by our older students.
