What a fantastic week it has been in Year 3!

We have been learning all about Egyptian Gods and Goddesses, expanding our knowledge of their roles, importance, and family connections to one another. We began by learning about the legend of Isis and Osiris and had great fun re-enacting the tale. Once familiar with the story, we re-wrote it, focussing on applying exciting vocabulary and using time connectives to write in exciting, wellstructured paragraphs. After that, we progressed to learning about the other famous Gods and Goddesses, creating a ‘vocAPPulary’ of information about them all.

Excitingly, we started our art canopic jar project and have had a great time moulding and sculpting the heads to our jars. We hope to finish these next week!

Last week, we started a science experiment, looking about preservation techniques for the process of mummification.

This week, we chose our favourite solution and had a go at mummifying apples. We will observe them over the next few weeks to record any changes.

Finally, how can we forget our amazing trip to London! We had an incredible day getting the train with our friends to the capital. We tied in our learning about London and Ancient Egypt with a wonderful visit to the History Museum, the theatre and finishing off with a scrumptious dinner.

The children were impeccably behaved, and we all had a truly super day. A big thank you particularly to Mrs Clarke and Ms Collins for organising and for making our final trip of Year 3 such a special one.

Wishing you all a relaxing weekend in the sunshine!
