MISSION
MISSION STRATA Architects PLLC, an international architecture firm headquartered in NYC, was founded on the principle that truly great architectural design serves to create a built environment that directly enhances the lives of its inhabitants and its community. Drawing from the diverse expertise of its founding partners, STRATA is sensitive to the unique needs of a broad spectrum of architectural program types and scales, from large-scale commercial, mixed-use and institutional buildings to smaller boutique projects. The firm employs a methodology that is both systematic and flexible, enabling us to integrate architecture, engineering and cutting-edge research with individual clients’ ambitions and desires. In today’s resource-drained natural and economic world, we are deeply sensitive to executing our projects in a manner that is both socially and environmentally responsible. We continually strive to stay ahead of the curve in our creative and intelligent approach to design and implementation. We pride ourselves in delivering professional architectural services that answer to the individual voices of a project – the human STRATA. PROJECT TYPES MIXED-USE: Large and medium scale urban centers that combine office, residential, hotel, retail, office, or other commercial, institutional, industrial land uses, which are integrated to support each other and function as a unified whole.
OFFICE: Iconic Class A, Triple A Commercial office buildings, landmark urban headquarters and large self-sustaining suburban business campuses.

METHODOLOGY PROJECTS IN USA FULL SERVICE:
DESIGN AND
In the USA, STRATA provides Architectural Design and Documentation services that include all standard architectural services: Concept Design, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents (Plan, Detail and Specifications) and Construction Administration. For these services, STRATA hires base engineering consultants (Structure, MEP/ FP ) and integrates them with the team. STRATA also hires additional Specialty Consultants (Site Surveying, Lighting Design, Faรงade Engineering, Vertical Transportation, Security, Acoustical Engineering, Landscape Architecture, etc.) as required or requested by the client.

INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS
OPTION 1: BASIC DESIGN SERVICE STRATA comes on board prestigious international projects worldwide to design a grand architectural scheme and to provide the global design knowhow. On these types of overseas projects, STRATA's primary focus is to deliver a remarkable world-class design the client desires. The Local Architect and the Local Consultants collaborate with STRATA and assist STRATA's design effort through the Schematic Design. At the end of the Schematic Design Phase, the Local Architect and the Consultants take over and further the development and the documentation of the project as per STRATA's design.

INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS OPTION 2: ADVANCED DESIGN SERVICE
DESIGN AND
On some, more prestigious and important overseas projects, STRATA is asked to further develop the grand design to its actual details. In this particular scenario, the Local Architect and the Local Consultants collaborate with STRATA and assist STRATA's comprehensive design effort through Design Development. At the end of the Design Development Phase, the Local Architect and the Consultants take over and produce the Construction Documents of the project as per STRATA's design development deliverables.

LEADERS Nizam Kızılsencer AIA, LEED AP
Co-Founder, Principal
Throughout a career spanning nearly two decades, Nizam Kizilsencer, AIA, LEED AP, has accumulated a portfolio of master planning and architectural design experiences that include a range of complex and highly-recognizable projects in the United States, Turkey, the Middle East and Far East Asia.
Some career highlights thus far include One World Trade Center (Freedom Tower), the Memorial SloanKettering Research Center and the Moynihan East and West Stations in New York, as well as the Digital Media City Landmark Tower in South Korea, the Akbank Banking Center in Turkey, the Beach Road Garden in Singapore and the Tokyo Midtown Project in Tokyo, Japan. Mr. Kizilsencer was awarded the Presidential Citation by the AIA for his involvement in post-9/11 rebuilding at Ground Zero.
Prior to co-founding Studio Strata, Mr. Kizilsencer was a Senior Design Leader at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, LLP (SOM) in New York. In this role, he was responsible for all conceptual design and subsequent design development stages, supported the construction phases, and supervised a number of architectural design teams. His most recent projects with SOM included the Sedesco Tower in Midtown New York, the Isbank Tuzla Banking and Technology Center near Istanbul in Turkey, and the NEF Iki Residences in Istanbul, Turkey.
A LEED-accredited professional and a registered architect in the State of New York, Mr. Kizilsencer holds an M.Arch from Yale University and a B.Arch from Istanbul Technical University. He is a member of the AIA and the Union of the Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects (UCTEA). Recently, he served as co-chair for the “Hotel Development and Investment” panel at the GRI Conference in Istanbul, Turkey.

Kimberly Brown AIA, LEED AP
Co-Founder, Principal Kimberly Brown, AIA, LEED AP, has been dedicated to the execution of superior professional architectural design services for nearly 20 years. Having spent her early career working in the offices of SHoP, Polshek Partnership and Perkins +Will, Ms. Brown co-founded STRATA Architects PLLC with an eye to the future of architecture, emphasizing that the primary goal of quality design is to create environments that enrich the lives of its inhabitants and its community. Having worked on a wide range of projects throughout the course of her career, from urban and higher education master planning and large-scale mixed use to theater and museum design, Ms. Brown is sensitive to maneuvering within the unique parameters characteristic of varying design types. Some career highlights include the renovation of the Yale University Art Gallery and the Harvard Law School Comprehensive Plan as well as multiple historic New York City theater renovations. Ms. Brown was also the Project Manager for an intensive design and construction administration effort involving a large-scale office development in Silicon Valley, relocating to California for the duration of the project. Ms. Brown has a particular interest in public space, community involvement and urban planning. In this vein, she was the Director of Carl Small Town Center, a research and design center focusing on community-based urban planning and housing research, run through the Mississippi State University’s College of Architecture, Art + Design. Awarded several state and federal grants for the center’s projects Ms. Brown created standards for limiting sprawl development on Mississippi highway bypasses, educated elected officials about the value of design and helped residents shape the physical future of their communities, and collaborated on the development of a sustainable modular home for victims of Hurricane Katrina for use along the devastated Mississippi coast. While in Mississippi, Ms. Brown ran her own office and collaborated with Morris Architects/Planners on the renovation of the Towle Community Theater in Hammond, IN. A LEED-accredited professional and a registered architect in New York and Mississippi, Ms. Brown holds an M.Arch from Yale University and a B.Arch from Mississippi State University, where she was honored as a 2009 Alumni Fellow and is a member of the School of Architecture advisory board. Ms. Brown has instructed students at the Parsons School of Design, the Mississippi State University School of Architecture, and in the Yale University Undergraduate Architecture program. She continues to lecture frequently about the role of design in city planning and the value of public space in communities of all scales.
