The Course
The Bachelor of Science in Informatics degree (BSc IF) prepares candidates to become specialists in Informatics. The course brings together people, technology and information to create knowledge and subsequently wealth.
It is designed to meet the increasing demand in the market place for Informatics professionals with a deep knowledge of computer architecture, high technical and programming skills, and the capacity to design and implement ICT systems taking advantage of emerging technologies. The graduates need to understand organisational culture and work in interdisciplinary teams with focus on people. The course is structured to meet the qualification needs and skill requirements of growing computer and software industry. It focuses on development and

implementation of software systems and administration of computer and information systems answering the industry need for ICT experts for research, development and software engineering centres.The Bachelor of Science in Informatics degree has been developed in response to employer demand for people who have more than just technical skill people who understand their employer’s organisation and use strong people skills to work in a team environment. Courses in humanities and ethics are included to address wider awareness of social and human life that form the society, the private life and human relations, and consequently the life of a company and its performance. Indeed the Informatics programme is designed to be handled like a work-place environment learn like in the workplace.
Careers The graduates are prepared to work as Software Developers, System Administrators, Information System Developers, System Analysts and Designers, Research Associate, Installation Engineers, Maintenance Engineers, Integration Engineers, Network Administrators, etc.

Education Financing To help you manage your education financing, Strathmore has partnered with Commercial Bank of Africa and the World Bank’s International Finance Corporation to offer low-interest loans to students pursuing degrees and diplomas at the University. Students can also get loans from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).
Learning Facilities
E-Learning Strathmore University is a pioneer in the use of ICT. Our e-learning system enables students to view the coursework material that lecturers have posted, submit their finished assignments, update their calendars, interact and chat with fellow students, participate in various fora and communicate with their lecturer. Students have access to numerous computer laboratories, unlimited Internet, a wide range of software and e-mail. A wireless network enables students with laptops access to the network from various locations around the campus. Library The library complex and reading room are spacious, with an atmosphere that is highly conducive to private study and research. The wide range of material contributes to the university’s excellent academic performance.The library system is available online.

Requirements • KCSE with a minimum of B both in Maths and English

• KACE certificate with a minimum of two principal passes, and a minimum of a Credit Pass in Mathematics at KCE. Exemptions Only Strathmore DBIT graduates can qualify for exemptions. Intakes Fulltime Course intake is in July. Entrance Examinations Candidates are required to sit an General Entrance Examination (GEE), which shall consists of: Mathematics, English and finally an Oral interview. • Applicants should report to the University by 8.00am on the day of the interview and should bring: • Three (3) passport-size photographs • Original and photocopies of all relevant academic and professional certificates • Copy of the national ID/ Birth Certificate/Passport • Entrance Examination fee of KShs 600. Interviews are held on every Tuesday and Thursday at 8.00am.
