The Course
The course targets working people who do not have a first degree and professionals, such as graduates of CPA and CPS who wish to upgrade their qualifications to degree level. Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) is offered in both day and evening programs. Evening classes run from 5.30pm to 8.30pm on weekdays and 8.30am to 4.00pm on Saturdays. The Bachelor of Commerce course integrates two key aspects of business training: Business, Financial Studies and Information Technology. The labour market is inclined to students who have a thorough knowledge of business and financial studies but who at the same time understand how information technology affects businesses. Our students are exposed to information technology, management courses, humanities, business ethics and languages, which give them a capacity to analyse the operations and decision-making of business organisations Course structure The course has been designed to provide a general coverage of business management courses, which encompass all aspects of business, finance, management, and IT, which are a crucial part of the business training necessary for a world-class business student.
Careers The course provides students with the opportunity to specialise in any one

of the five areas: Accounting; Finance; Business Administration; Mar keting; Entrepreneurship. Accounting Option - In addition to the normal advanced accounting units the University also offers courses specifically tailored for the Not-for-Profit Sector and other quasi-government bodies. This widens the job market for students. Finance Option - is structured to include latest international practices such as Financial Modelling with spreadsheets. The Option prepares students to for careers in this field as well as take further studies. Potential employers include: stock broking firms; finance houses; fund/capital and asset managers. Business Administration Option - prepares students in the following: Marketing, General Management, Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurial skills and Business planning. Marketing Option - is structured to enable students develop a high level of interpersonal and mass communication skills, the capacity for self-development, and the ability to respond to changes in the business environment.

Education Financing To help you manage your education financing, Strathmore has partnered with Commercial Bank of Africa and the World Bank’s International Finance Corporation to offer low-interest loans to students pursuing degrees and diplomas at the University. Students can also get loans from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).
Entrepreneurship Option - prepares students to start their own businesses, to work for small businesses, work with small business development entities or introduce a new product or idea into the market place. Progression to further studies The Management Science degree is designed to develop managerial skills in the chosen specialisation areas as well as prepare students for further studies.
Learning Facilities
E-Learning Strathmore University is a pioneer in the use of ICT. Our e-learning system enables students to view the coursework material that lecturers have posted, submit their finished assignments, update their calendars, interact and chat with fellow students, participate in various fora and communicate with their lecturer. Students have access to numerous computer laboratories, unlimited Internet, a wide range of software and e-mail. A wireless network enables students with laptops access to the network from various locations around the campus.

Library The library complex and reading room are spacious, with an atmosphere that is highly conducive to private study and research. The wide range of material contributes to the university’s excellent academic performance.The library system is available online.
Entry
Requirements KCSE mean grade C+ with C in Mathematics and English, or KACE with 2 principal passes and 1 subsidiary pass, and a credit pass in Mathematics at KCE. Entrance Examination Candidates are required to sit a Mathematics exam, English exam and an oral interview Candidates should report to the University by 8.00am on the day of the interview and bring 3 passport-size photographs, original and photocopies of all relevant academic and professional certificates and KShs 600 entrance examination fee.
