Goshen, Indiana home to many, destination point for many others! Goshen, Indiana, located in the heart of Amish country, is the perfect location to serve as your central hub while touring north central Indiana. Several area Photo courtesy of Downtown Goshen/Lynne Zehr, photographer destinations are less than 30 minutes from Goshen, including Middlebury, Shipshewana, Nappanee, Warsaw, Winona Lake, South Bend, Notre Dame and several others. While touring the area, take a moment to admire our classic courthouse in the heart of town. Walk past the unique “police booth” on the corner, used to protect the town from bank robbers in the late 1930s. Our Carnegie Library was the first of its kind in Indiana and now houses the City Offices. Feel free to enter and explore this historic building. In 1983, the downtown Historic District was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. Many residential streets are lined with stately maple trees, giving Goshen the nickname The Maple City. These great maples give lush shade in summer and create a spectacular show of color in autumn. Stop by our Historic Downtown for a great mix of shopping and dining options — Mattern’s Butcher Shop & Corner Deli to the Photo courtesy of Downtown Goshen/Lynne Zehr, photographer Nut Shoppe to Found and so much more! The Maple City Greenway, a network of bicycle/pedestrian paths and hiking trails, is one of the most comprehensive systems of its types in the Midwest. The Pumpkinvine Nature Trail, a multi-purpose linear park running from Goshen to Shipshewana for approximately 17 miles, is still nearly complete, with two sections that are open to the public. Add to this, miles of scenic nature and cross-country skiing trails, parks, great fishing, golf and canoeing, and you begin to appreciate the diversity of this wonderful town. Check out all the great parks in Goshen and in the County, or for more information go to: www1.goshenindiana.org/content/park-recreation and www.elkhartcountyparks.org. Welcome to the RV Capital of the World! For every 10 RV’s you see, six of them are built right here in Elkhart County. In fact, the county produces 75% of the nation’s recreational vehicles and many manufacturers offer factory tours. Each July, around 300,000 visitors flock to the Elkhart County 4-H Fair, one of the largest county fairs in the nation. At the Michiana Mennonite Goshen Chamber of Commerce
