elcome to this weeks edition of Street Cred magazine. We are loving that we can give you the latest news quicker in glossy digital format. So far the response for our weekly magazine campaign has been outstanding and yes, there are bigger and better things to come. This week in the entertainment world its all about the release of Michael Jackson’s new album Xscape, but it probably got a little overshadowed by the incident with Jay Z and Beyonce’s sister in the lift. Now we all love gossip and as an entertainment mag we are supposed to give it to you but this news has gone way out of control when there are so many more important things to highlight.

Jay Z Gets BEAT DOWN by little girl

fter ‘that attack’ by Beyoncé’s baby sis on Jay Z, the whole torrid episode just went viral beyond belief. Mind you, it wasn’t going to be anything else...was it? When Solange launched into her astonishing elevator attack on the hiphop mega star after he said he was going to Rihanna’s party, without Beyoncé, it seems that months of tension about her stalled career came to the fore in the public gaze. It was said that Jay Z and Solange rowed before they got to elevator as he was furious her friends were using his name to gain entry to the Met Ball after party he was going to...alone!
major career like her sister and that she is tired of living in her incredibly huge, ‘global’ shadow; especially with the lack of buzz about her new album. Ever since the video footage was leaked of the ‘Big Apple Beat Down,’ all eyes have been on the seemingly strained relationship between the two. Well, as it turns out, Solange & Jay Z must’ve slapped their beef on a grill and eaten it as part of a delicious hamburger because they were since spotted together in New York. They weren’t fighting! They weren’t arguing! They weren’t glaring! They were... shopping for jewellry!! Mmmmmm???
A source said problems between Jay Z and Solange began 15 minutes prior to the hotel altercation. A few of her friends reportedly told staff at The Standard hotel, in New York, they were Jay Z’s guests. The rapper reportedly told her to not use his name. Solange, upset by this, said she wanted to leave the event. She then lambasted him for planning to attend the Bajan beauty’s Met Ball bash without Beyoncé. The source continued to say that Solange “seemed drunk and irritated,” according to another source the newspaper cites. “She said, ‘Why can’t you go home?’ and to Beyonce ‘Why does your husband need to go to the club right now?” Earlier in the evening Solange had an altercation with designer Rachel Roy It is said that the public outburst is all down to Solange desperate ‘want’ for a

rom the weird and wonderful to the beautifully simplistic, there was something for everybody at this years Gadget Show Live held at the NEC in Birmingham. From the 9th to the 13th April, gadget lovers descended on the NEC to get their fix of the hottest new gadgets on offer. As expected, a number of the big players were out in force, including Microsoft and their range of ultrabooks, PC’s and Surfaces, Western Digital, Pioneer, Samsung, Sony and and many more. event show, one of the busy attractions was the massive game of Flappy Bird on a huge screen. With consumers queuing up to try and get a high score on the day, it proved as utterly addicting non he big screen as it is on your mobile or tablet. Cooking and leisure weren't left out either, with gadgets on offer for the home, garden and entertainment. A range of knives and slicers, alongside jacuzzis, massage chairs, home gym equipment and gadgets for outdoor activities including head mounted cameras all had
to improve, clean, chop, relax, and adapt, the range of options available to attendees was vast, spanning over 3 halls of gadgety goodness. On the innovative front, Canny Capp produce a plastic bottle top that snaps onto any 330ml, 500ml or 1 pint can, providing a sealable solution for your cans. Useful at BBQs, in the car or just for use at home, it's a simple and cheap idea that has a place in most homes. Besides the Super Theatre

Increasing use of the Oculus Rift VR headset, coupled with other technology allowed businesses to give attendees a fully immersive view of their products, or just a quick tour through a roller coaster to ensure their stand would be long in the memory. urgeon Simulator, which we reviewed a while back, is back in the form of an iOS release for iPad! In what can only be described as a digital version of the classic game “Operation” crossed with shouting, blood and frustration! True to the original game, the controls are mind-bendingly annoying and anything but precise, but horribly addictive. You’ll find yourself trying again and again to save your patient, Bob, although most of the time it’s from you
that he needs saving! Featuring a redesigned touch-intuitive control system, this feels like a really well made port to tablet, including the old favourite Heart and Double-Kidney transplants, as well as eye operations and a dentistry mode. Initially created during the 2013 Global Game Jam, Surgeon Simulator 2013 was released in full for Windows PC, Mac and Linux via Steam last April, and with the new tablet version retailing at a cool £3.99 it’s definitely one to get your hands on, and do your worst to poor Bob!
REAL STORIES
Stephen - an inspiration to us all
19
-year-old Stephen Sutton died in his sleep after fighting terminal cancer for four years.
His fighting spirit helped him leave behind a legacy that will help teenagers in similar situations for a very long time. He composed a bucket list with 46 items on it and began working to accomplish his final goal, which was to raise £10,000 in donations to give to the Teenage Cancer Trust. To date, this goal has not only been reached, but has been vastly exceeded, to the tune of £3.2 million.
Stephen’s list included many other adventurous goals as well. He wanted to go skydiving, he wanted a tattoo and to play drums in front a large group of people. He plugged away at each item while undergoing seven major surgeries and four rounds of chemotherapy and radiation in just three short years. A spokesperson from the Teenage Cancer Trust said that Stephen’s donation is the biggest they have ever received and will use the funds to provide support to teenagers fighting cancer across the country.
Stephen left a message on Facebook which read; “Thank you from me, and also thank you from every young cancer patient in the future who will benefit invaluably from the money raised.” The news of his death spread quickly throughout social media, leading to a rush of donations via his Just Giving site and forcing the page to crash temporarily. He died on Thursday morning.

hey always say the ones you don’t see in the limelight are the ones making the real cash. Just because you are touring every second and selling millions of records doesn’t make you anything special.
Its all about being a rich person and able to live the life and enjoy having the time to spend it. If anyone deserves to retire gracefully it is definitely Dr Dre. The West Coast rapper who was once signed to the notorious Death Row Label with NWA, is now the biggest CEO in Hip hop. With music, Dr Dre has always been at the forefront for marketing, promotion, controversy and discovering the biggest acts such as Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Eminem and that’s just a few! This man is what you call the beast of hip hop. Whatever Dr Dre does in business becomes enormous and ground breaking. Right now his new venture Beats Electronics has been sold to Apple for £3.2 Billion making him the first Billionaire in Hip hop. Who ever thought we would see a Hip-Hop act on the Forbes list of Billionaires. Forbes estimates that Dr. Dre owns 20% to 25% of Beats’ shares and pegs the headphone-maker’s value at $2 billion. So now we have Apple involved in Hip-Hop thanks to DR Dre and partner Jimmy Levine who will also be special advisor to the brand. Dr. Dre came out on a Facebook video posted by actor Tyrese Gibson shouting and celebrating that “I’m the first billionaire in hip-hop.” This video went viral of course and everyone wants to know what the future plans are for Beats Electronics.
The campaign is in progress and no-one is available to comment but sure we are to see the unbelievable with the Beats brand. Now we can see why Dr Dre hasn’t released an album in years; he is too busy with technology. This is the perfect example of where the Hip-Hop platform
can take you.. Dr Dre is showing how you can make real money from sound. Congratulations. Words - Mark Dwayne
MJ SPOTLIGHT
Even death can’t stop MJ Its about time the press gave the respect that this man deserves. What we all should be praising him for is his music and ability to bring happiness to peoples lives. Even though its been five years since the King of Pop passed, we still need him and its great the world is able to hear Michaels music again. This week saw the release of the new album Xscape put together by legendary A&R LA Reid and lead producer Timbaland. Now we know MJ’s music needed new production, but we cant beat that old skool sound that we know him for. Thank god they released the first single that had the off the wall 80’s era sound that we all needed to hear, especially new Michael Jackson fans. The new Xscape album has 8 tracks that were selected out of hundreds that the producers had to choose from, and we must say these records are guaranteed hits. The first single, ‘Love Never Felt So Good’ featuring the amazing Justin Timberlake is for sure the best song on the album and boasts an amazing video. We hope to see other singles released and of course there will be a tour with the This Is It dancers. Th Xscape album is needed in our lives to remind us of how great music can be. Have to respect that Michael Jackson was simply the greatest entertainer of all time.
RISK v REWARD
H
ave we become a generation of nonrisk takers? Taking risks that end with positive results are extremely empowering! Taking risks that end with not-so-positive results are lessons! Yeah, thats right school isn’t over yet! Learn from it and come again...but differently! I have recently been telling a group of ladies the same thing, they’re single but they don’t want to be single! I told them to STOP, stop seeking him and take the time to reconnect with yourself, go to the gym, read, take yourself out, take up a hobby, go to college just take the risk to try something else but they were very reluctant and distorted their facial features at my suggestions! Then I flipped the script and said ‘go to an opera’ and the response was ‘oooh yeah I should be able to find a rich man there!’ RISK?...Interesting! LADIES KNOW YOURSELF before you seek someone that wants to KNOW YOU!
BE TRUE BE YOOHOOO!
S
o I was shopping in One Stop Shopping Centre one day when they started to play Michael Jackson Rock With You! I love that song and, me being me, I had to at least bounce my shoulders whilst looking at and moving the clothes along the rail, then I added a hip wiggle and started to move my feet. Then before you know it I’m in the mirror lip-syncing to the tune! Couldn’t help it! I was with my friends who also care for that tune but, and I don’t know how, they were able to contain themselves!
Word on the street CHANTELLE
They were like ‘CHAAAN!’ I told them ‘I don’t care!’ Because I really don’t, unless I’m breaking a law, offending someone or being inappropriate, I just really enjoy being ME! When I’m working I can be observant and quiet but music is my drug! It feeds my alter ago, CHANEL. I encourage people to be themself and do what makes them happy as long as there is no negative outcome from it. Happiness does come from within, it should not be sought from someone else to make YOU happy that’s not right!
YOU ARE NOT YOUR HAIR
I
know some people bag on about weave well I’m not about to join ‘em but I am going to speech about hair in general, your own grown from the scalp or not! I do not have an issue with shop bought hair of any kind, locks, short hair, cornrows, permed, long, dyed, mohicans, chiney bumps, doo doo plaits etcetera etcetera etcetera BUT I do have an issue with NON-MAINTENANCE! Blatant neglect! It’s not nice! It may be expensive but just do your research about your hairstyle needs first before you get tied into a non-verbal contract with your
own hair! Think of your hair like a new relationship, in the beginning everything is CRISIS! After a little while there may be a few kinks but nothing that a little taming in the right direction can’t cure, then later you may need to add something to it to bring the spark back, but if negligence continues it can go wild, grow out of style till it just needs replacing! On both accounts it may not be nice, you might not be ready to say goodbye to it yet until you remember that simple eleven digit, 3 syllable word that Chantelle wrote about!

Who will triumph in the greatest show on turf?
W
ith only days to go, all eyes are fully focused on the FIFA World Cup 2014 and Neymar, Sturridge, Messi, Toure, Ronaldo et al will be plotting their part in winning the coveted gold statue when the “greatest show on turf” opens its door to the world in Brazil, next month. With the greatest of expectations heaped on host, Brazil, to delivery its baying public the title they haven’t won since 2002, to a nation so steeped in the game that is far too long to go without. Coach Luiz Felipe Scolari is under no illusions as to what is expected from the class of ’14 to add to the five previous triumphs. But, equally, is experienced enough at that level to exceed the lofty demands of his country’s people. After all, it was he who coached the last Brazil team to win the World Cup, in Japan & South Korea. Brazil’s South American neighbours, especially Argentina and Uruguay, will be leading a host of nations who, themselves, truly believe they have a genuine chance. Italy, the eternal ‘dark horses’ of just about every major tournament-yet 4 times World Cup winners-lead Europe’s charge for what is the ‘holy grail’ when held in the continent.
Holders, Spain, will be tested again and hope they don’t get blown away as they did in the Confederations Cup there in 2012. The effervescent ‘machine’ that is Germany will always feel they a chance too. England, on the other hand, have, for a change, lowered their own expectations, which is strange because people in England usually think they can win the World Cup. This time around, many of the more learned in the game in this country openly feel that the “Three Lions” are a long, long way away from winning it this time around. Reaching the last 16 would be seen as a good return this time round. Can Ghana go that one step further than their quarter finals in 2010, or would the Ivory Coast be Africa’s greatest achievers this time? The Netherlands, Portugal, Belgium, or the much improved Nigeria might just ‘throw a spanner’ in these proverbial works. Whoever lifts the FIFA World Cup Trophy, at the iconic Maracana in Rio de Janeiro, on 13 July, will be the ‘icing on the cake’ of what is expected to be...the greatest show on turf, EVER!
SPOTLIGHT Tell me about your business what is it all about and the main aim? Little Miss Creative is a network for young creative women. We provide workshops and events to help inspire and shape freethinking female leaders. The aim is to build a supportive community of courageous young women from all disciplines that can showcase their talent, art and business with likeminded individuals. How have you found being a woman looking to make it in Business? Have there been any barriers? It can swing either way. There have been instances when I’m just a person in the business world but there have also been instances where I’m a woman in a male dominated business world. With the latter it is hard to prove yourself, your work and your worth but I always find a way to overcome it by believing in myself and remaining passionate about what I do. I always keep my eyes on the future. Who came up with the idea Little Miss Creative? Love the name and when did you start the company? After several attempts I came up with the name whilst envisioning the business that I wanted to pursue, also I used to love the ‘Little Miss’ books when I was younger. The company was started in 2013 after, its been going from strength to strength ever since. I have an amazing creative and passionate team, we just moved into an office in Birmingham City Centre earlier this year. What actually inspired you to be in the industry you are in? I wanted to have the freedom to express
developing Little Miss Creative because it embodies everything I believe in. With the aims of helping women tap into their power to creating communities, inspiring others and doing events, I am able to utilise all of my talents and key strengths to shift the planet.
myself and create what I wanted to without restrictions. Whilst working in New York as a freelance marketer I had a yearning to start my own business. After two years in the Big Apple I came back to the UK and put my plans into action.
connections to ensure that the launch of LMC NY runs smoothly this summer. I met up with some talented artists and have secured some exciting ventures… but you will have to wait and see what comes next!
I see you are into poetry and have been involved with many events catering for that genre. Is Poetry something you are really passionate about? To me, writing is a release and I use writing to express and to explore whether that is through journaling, creative writing and creating press releases. I enjoy all aspects of writing but poetry has always helped to heal me through ups and downs. As I develop and evolve, I utilise other art forms such as painting, clothes making and graphic design as a means of positive escapism.
Why do you feel there is a need for Little Miss Creative? There are not enough organisations that focus on the empowerment of women, especially within the creative industry. I want to give young women a voice through our inspiring events, giving them a safe space to turn their dreams into reality. I want them to know that every dream they have can come true. Impossible doesn’t exist.
You were able to network in America recently how was that for you?? I see New York as my second home so it is always great to go back. This time around I focused on building
Out of all the projects you do which one has stood out the most and why have you enjoyed it so much? I have been blessed to do many things in my life such as working on marketing campaigns in NY and working with renowned organisations including MTV, BBC and NHS but the thing that stands out the most is
Where would you like to see LMC in ten years? In ten years I see LMC as a global company that will have a presence on every continent. I have big plans for Little Miss Creative! Your company is proving to be a success and is making an impact on many people. Did you think things would be going this well and so fast? I always believed in my company and what I could achieve through it. I knew that if I stuck to my plan, envisioned what I wanted and took consistent action then things would begin to fall into place. I am blessed to see how fast LMC has grown and I know this is only the beginning! Who would you say supports your venture the most? Like do you get the love back from family and friends? My main supportive force has always been my beautiful Mother who has been my biggest fan since I entered the planet. Also, my mentors provide me with business wisdom and keep me on track. What would you like people to know most about Selina? I believe my purpose is to shift the planet! I’m here to awaken and enlighten and this business is just one of the ways I put that desire into action. I love what I do, I love creativity and I love women and I want people to realise that about me.
