"Idris should be the next Bond," Sony Pictures chair Amy Pascal wrote, reportedly to a fellow studio executive. That was enough to set conservative commentator, Rush Limbaugh, into a tizzy. “Bond,” he said on his radio programme, has a distinct ethnic profile that Mr. Elba, who is Black, doesn't fit. He was white and Scottish, period. That is who James Bond is," Limbaugh said, adding: "I know it's racist to probably even point this out.

"But the franchise needs to get with it, right?" he continued. "The franchise needs to get hip. The franchise needs to get with the 21st Century. That's right. We had 50 years of white Bonds because Bond is white. Bond was never Black."

What does everyone else think about the traumatic supermarket queues all because the shops are closed for 1 whole day, yep 1 day only how would we ever manage If for some unknown reason they had to close for 2 days haha.

Day over, time to think about what time the shops re-open for a fresh loaf of bread haha.

THE WOLF OF WALL STREET Based on the true story of Jordan Belfort, from his rise to a wealthy stock-broker living the high life to his fall involving crime, corruption and the federal government. Martin Scorsese is one of the greatest filmmakers in history and if you disagree, you are wrong; The Wolf of Wall Street is proof. A true story about crime, corruption, money and drugs? There really was no other person who could make this film. When you're watching a threehour movie and it feels like it flys by in absolutely no time, you know you're watching a good movie and that's exactly what happens here. Scorsese's remarkable skills as a filmmaker are backed up by a

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY career-defining performance from Leonardo DiCaprio to create one of the most entertaining movies in recent memory.

Slave a good film, because by no means is it "enjoyable" - it's is the most deeply unsettling, harrowing and brutal films ever made about slavery. However, while it is a difficult film to watch, it is an undeniable cinematic masterpiece. It's plain to see that everyone who worked on this film understood the importance of what they were making and everything comes together flawlessly. The writing, the direction, the music, the performances - everything about this movie is perfect and accumulates into one of the most harrowing pieces of cinema you will ever see.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER While attempting to adjust to life in the modern world, Steve Rogers continues to embark on global missions for as a S.H.I.E.L.D agent. However, when he discovers that the organisation has been compromised, Steve Rogers must fight for his life as he is relentlessly pursued by people he once considered allies and he must

movie featuring a gun-toting raccoon and a walking, talking tree would end up being one of the best blockbusters of the year? Marvel continued their astonishing track record with what is arguably their most entertaining movie to date, featuring a rag-tag group of criminals fighting their way through beautifully realised, intergalactic environments. The action is fierce, the emotions run deep and the comedy comes thick and fast. Superhero movies don't get much better than this!

DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species. Rise of the Planet of the Apes was the surprise of Summer 2011. As the latest entry in a long deceased franchise, no one had much hope. However, what we got was nothing short of a amazing. It is ferociously exciting, brilliantly intense and surprisingly intelligent. Zooming along at a break-neck pace, The Winter Soldier plays more like a thriller than your average superhero movie and the events in this film will have an adverse effect on everything that comes after it. Aside from being the best Marvel film to date, it is also the most important.

anticipated sequel was released and not only is it one of the best blockbusters of the year, it is quite simply one of the best movies of the year. The action, the performances, the direction - everything comes together perfectly to form this epic saga. The film ends with promise of a sequel and if it’s going to be anything like Dawn of the Planet of the Apes; I honestly can’t wait.

This is what a martial arts movie would look like if it’s was directed by Martin Scorsese. Gareth Evans once again knocks it out of the park with this sequel that takes everything we loved about the first and throws in a huge, complex story about warring crime families. Unbelievable.

HER Set in the not-to-distant future, the life of a lonely man changes forever when he falls in love with his newly updated operating system. Her is truly astounding. It's almost impossible to think that a film about a man falling in love with a computer programme is one of the most beautiful, haunting and relatable love stories ever committed to film. The reason, or should I say, one of the countless reasons this film is so successful is that it's honest. It does not shy away from the awkwardness one feels when first

INTERSTELLAR The Earth is dying. Famine, drought and an extremely volatile climate are threatening the very existence of mankind. To combat this, a group of explorers are sent on a perilous mission to the far reaches of our universe in order to find a habitable planet so that the human race can be saved. Since 1998, Christopher Nolan has built a name for himself as one of the most formidable filmmakers of his time and it has reached a point where we, as audiences, actually expect everything he makes to be nothing short of spectacular. Now, while that is by no means a desirable

curring in their town that seem to be connected to this mysterious soldier's presence. The Guest was the surprise of the year. A low budget action/thriller that flew quietly into cinemas in September turned out to be one of the most entertaining movies of the entire year. To delve deeper into this movie would do a disservice to it, as it is best for you to go in blind the first time you watch it, but all you need to know is that it is action packed, wickedly funny, brutally intense and full of twists.

Pulpy, darkly funny and brutally intense, Nightcrawler is entertainment and it's finest. While everything about this movie is brilliant, the single best thing about it is by far and away Jake Gyllenhaal's performance. He gives a powerhouse performance that once again proves he is one of the best actors of his generation.

He has never made a bad film, and Interstellar is his next masterpiece. A complex story on an enormous scale featuring mind blowing visual effects and astonishing performances from everyone involved, especially Matthew McConaughey. Interstellar is the thinking man's blockbuster and while it may not appeal to everyone, it is a truly remarkable piece of cinema.

n a cold winters night, Turbowolf brought the Download Freezes Over Tour to Birmingham’s Institute along with support acts God Damn and Empress AD. “You know it’s cold when you’re still freezing 3 songs in” mused God Damn frontman Thom Edward during their set. Thanks to the two support acts, however cold they may have been, the crowd was certainly warmed up and ready for Turbowolf to take to the stage. The Bristolian Alt-Rockers roused the crowd through their set, and when they launched into their latest track ‘Rabbit’s Foot’, the masses were moshing. Chris Georgiadis, guitarist Andy Ghosh, Lianna Lee Davies on bass and Blake Davies on drums performed an electric set including hits ‘Lets Die’, ‘Solid Gold’ and ‘Read + Write’ alongside an MGMT cover of ‘Electric Feel’ with an energy that was infectious. At the end of the night, after an impressive preview of what is set for Download 2015, frontman Georgiadis thanked their fans, saying “Thank you Birmingham for being such a wonderful, wonderful audience.”
