Welcome to the one and only Street Cred Magazine. We have so much in store for you with this edition including a change in the general layout and design. The ‘Grimey’ section has now been renamed ‘Word on the Street’ and includes everything you want to know in Celebrity, Music and Sport news. We have improved more things and enhanced some features but kept things as you, our readers like it. For this May Edition we have featured Paramore who have stormed back on to the scene and rebuilt themselves as a three piece. In addition to the cover we have a 7 page feature talking about Paramore’s achievements and how they have began to dominate around the world and how they are set to again with their brand new album! Don’t forget we have an interview with Amy Childs regarding her Fitness DVD in the health and fitness section as she looks to help people stay in shape and Spotlight this month focuses on Benjamin Blake. Benjamin is a Birmingham unsigned artist who’s extremely talented so check him (and the article) out. Right that’s about it from me! JLS Leave Music Fans Ecstatic and Heartbroken with Announcement of Split Depending on your musical tastes and views on a certain talent show you will either be feeling very happy or very sad about the news that JLS are going to call it a day after 6 years together. Then again you could be like me and not really give a hoot considering they were just a blip on your musical radar for the past few years. Regardless though poor old Oritse has taken it rather hard, breaking down on Alan Carrs ‘Chatty Man’ show when discussing the split, after all it was him who brought them all together in the first place (apparently). The boys have said they wanted to leave it be whilst at the top of their game and not drag it out and fade into nonexistence like a lot of boy bands. This announcement also led to plans for a “Greatest Hits” album and a farewell tour entitled ‘Goodbye’. It’s fantastic to know that their creativity meets no ends and is even fantastic when coming up with a tour title… A farewell tour such as this is already drawing a lot of attention and will leave the four of them cashing in on a lot of money before finally calling it a day. Not bad for 6 years work eh!

Sorrow for Six Hours Straight US Alternative Rock band The National are to play their song ‘Sorrow’ for six hours straight on May 5th at the New York gallery Moma PS1in Long Island City, New York. The track from their hugely successful album ‘High Violet’ will be played as part of a collaboration with artist Ragnar Kjartnsson for his installation piece entitled ‘A Lot of Sorrow’. The idea is to stretch a single song into a day long force that will explore the sculptural presence within a repetitive sound. The National recently revealed details of their upcoming album ‘Trouble Will Find Me’ with further dates added to their UK tour toward the end of this year.

Drugs and Stun Guns. Life on Tour with Justin Bieber! Justin Bieber is continuing his road to child stardom hell and looks set for the scheduled stop in rehab. Bad boy Bieber had drugs and stun guns found on his tour bus by police whilst in Sweden recently. It has been said police smelt cannabis coming from the bus whilst it was parked under the Stockholm concert venue Globen. Since being photographed smoking drugs back in January it is common knowledge now that the singer is involved in this sort of behaviour and it’s only getting worse with recent events. Having shown up on stage late in London last month his timekeeping is still causing him jip as he showed up six hours late to a paid photoshoot in Copenhagen, Denmark. He also allegedly threw a tantrum and refused to wear the outfit picked out for him and it is widely regarded now that the star is not worth the hassle to work with. Europe doesn’t seem to sit well with young Justin as now it has been London, Stockholm, Copenhagen and Amsterdam where he has dealt with problems. In Amsterdam he wrote in the book at the Anne Frank museum that she would have been a Belieber. Anne wrote a diary Justin. I’d expect she was educated enough to not like you.

Beyonce gets Camera Shy After those incredibly flattering photos emerged of Beyonce performing during her Superbowl half time show the singer has banned photographers from her entire Mrs Carter Show: World Tour. Only a single photographer will be permitted access to the shows which I can only presume she will then vet before allowing her selected photos to be delivered to worldwide press. It is a rather pathetic move from the superstar singer who really should care less about how she looks on stage, or, just stop performing so energetically which is causing her to look a bit ‘unflattering’ on stage.

He hit it first, Ray J’s Controversial new single. Ray J has released a new single lyrically sending a message to Kanye West & Kim Kardashian clearly stating that ‘He Hit It First’. The lyrics state ‘She might move on to rappers and ball players but we all know I hit it first’. Kanye West has yet to make a claim of response. ‘I had her head going north and her ass going south but now baby chose to go west’, Something tells me he isn’t as over Kim as he makes out. I wonder if Father to be Kanye West will create a response and say ‘she was faking it’ considering he’s stated he loved seeing his soon to be mother to his baby’s sex tape.

Drake Speaks out about Chris Brown...Again! Drake has spoken out about Chris Brown again adding up the endless amounts of ‘Beef’ between the two artists. Yet Drake has continued to state “His insecurities are the fact I make better music than him, That I’m more poppin’ than him and that at one point in life the woman he loves fell into my lap”. I wonder if Chris will respond as he began to talk about Rihanna without mentioning her name. Maybe the collaboration they both did in summer 2012 made him forget as he went on to mention “I treated her with respect, so she’s not up there talking on me. All those things combined create an individual that comes into your radio station and is just going to do dumb s***. We have an issue and it’s either going to drag out or maybe in ten years we’ll laugh about it over drinks. Just let us solve that s**.”

Word On The Street news - gossip - music - sport - celebrities Danny Cipriani taken down by a Bus Rugby player Danny Cipriani was knocked over by a bus whilst on a drunken fancy dress crawl in Leeds having apparently been drunkenly running in the road. The bus’s front windscreen was completely cracked and shattered showing how hard the collision must have been. It was probably a good thing that he was a rugby player and drunk as he is used to getting knocked to the ground by heavy men and the alcohol would have eased all the pain. He was seen battered and bruised leaving hospital the day after the accident although looked in good spirits despite having bruised ribs and a concussion. The incident occurred during a 14 bar pub crawl with his rugby teammates and Cipriani was lucky the incident was not more serious.

Rebel Wilson suffers wardrobe malfunction on MTV Movie Awards The Pitch Perfect star played Fat Amy in the smash hit comedy movie. Rebel Wilson was the perfect choice to host this MTV Movie awards as just like her characters she was hilarious and so much fun. Rebel pulled off some pretty good jokes by claiming the only reason she got the hosting job was because everyone mistaken her for Adele. Given the sketches to the MTV Movie awards you had her seen dressed as iron man, Pink, and even gave queen of R&B miss Beyonce Knowles a run for her money by dancing in a PVC Outfit. She even grabbed herself two gongs on the night! Go on girl! To everyone’s surprise when asked what did she do to prepare herself for presenting the MTV Movie awards she tweeted a tweet saying “how am I preparing for the MTVMA’s 1. Horizontal Running 2. Vocal warm-ups. And finally 3. Sexting Channing Tatum. Ha don’t you just love her!

Capital FM Summertime ball is back! This time bigger and better than before. As we all know there is a new host for each year and this year sees ‘Mr Sexy Back’ himself host the summertime ball. The announced line up sees the likes of Will.i.am, Olly Murs, Jessie J, The Wanted, Robbie and Williams. The list is endless! sport United make it 20 Manchester United regained the title off ultimate Rivals Manchester City at the end of April. It’s been a fantastic season and no one expected the turn of events that has happened this season. United could finally announce they were champions again when they won against Aston Villa at Old Trafford. Robin Van Persie scored all 3 goals making it an ultimately memorable day for the striker and the fans.

Van Persie was beloved with his days at Arsenal and it came as a shock when he moved to Manchester United, but what a difference he has made for the club. Not only scoring important goals when they’re vitally needed but his companionship with the likes of Rooney and Welbeck has been amazing. Van Persie has already made it clear he’s at the club he definitely wants to stay at, his first season with United has already seen him bag the premiership title. I see big things within the future. Gareth Bale is considered to be the most wanted player in the world right now, with an estimated worth of up to 100million. It’s phenomenal. He’s a great player and I wonder who’s going to snatch him in the summer or will he show his loyal white colours and stay at Spurs? I feel this will come to whether or not they can achieve champions league football for next season. Luis Suarez. As much as I admire his footwork this season and the goals he has been scoring when you have a player who isn’t able to control himself on the pitch there isn’t anything left for Liverpool to do with him than get rid while they still can. Clubs are still interested in his talent, and are still willing to brush off the issues that have riddled his career. Don’t be surprised if Liverpool cash in during the off season.

Word On The Street news - gossip - music - sport - celebrities German Dominance Topples Spanish Flair At the time of writing this only the first legs of the Champions League semi-finals have been played and showed both German sides demolish their Spanish opponents. One can only presume that both Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund make it into the final at Wembley, but even if they don’t the dominance displayed by the German outfits will be felt for a while longer! Munich have already splashed the cash by coughing up £32million (37million Euros) to break Mario Gotze’s Dortmund buyout clause. It is a massive coup for the Bavarians taking arguably the strongest player out of their biggest rivals squad, but that might not be all for Dortmund. Polish ace and four goal wonder Robert Lewandowski is also being targeted by the crowned Bundesliga champions and has stressed his desire to leave in the summer. Surprisingly though Manchester United could still be his final destination after his agent was spotted in Manchester recently. Alex Fergusons desire to partner him upfront with Robin Van Persie could lead to United having an even stronger attack force than they had whilst romping to victory in this year’s championship. I hope for the sake of Dortmund they hold on to some of their stronger players and fill the void left by potential departures. Munich on the other hand with Pep Guardiola ready to take the reins are surely going to go from strength to strength and with Gotze lined up to play Pep’s favoured false number 9 position, Lionel Messi Mk II could be on the horizon!

Luis Suarez Has Never Been Red Carded For Liverpool… Yes, that is true. The turbulent striker has racked up 19 games banned for the reds but shockingly has never done anything during a match deemed worthy of a dismissal by the officials. He has sworn at fans, dived liked an Olympic swimmer, racially abused players and tried to take a chunk out of Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic’s arm yet every time remained on the pitch. For his latest bite in the bad books he received a 10 match ban which will probably see him unlikely to play for Liverpool again this season, if at all. Yet his punishment has seen a backlash by many who claimed that there is an inconsistency when it comes to punishing players. Lets take a look a some other big bans that players achieved. PREVIEW The great gatsby - MAY 16th The latest adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgeralds classic novel ‘The Great Gatsby’ hits the screens in May almost an entire year since the first trailer dropped enticing cinema goers worldwide in 2012. It sees director Baz Luhrmann team back up with Leonardo DiCaprio after their successes with the 1996 smash hit ‘Romeo and Juliet’ with DiCaprio leading an all star cast as Gatsby in this new film which includes Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan and Isla Fisher. Maguire portrays Nick Carraway an aspiring stock broker who recounts his encounter with the millionaire Jay Gatsby, his lavish and extravagant neighbour where they both reside in Long Island. Rekindling his friendship with his cousin Daisy (Mulligan) who lives across the road from him, Nick learns of a broken love between Gatsby and Daisy which was torn apart during the first world war in which Gatsby and Nick both fought. When invited to one of Gatsby’s impeccable party events he learns of his neighbour and new friend’s true intentions. Intentions to recreate the past to find the happiness he has desperately been seeking. modern day artists renowned in their own right such as Lana Del Rey, Beyonce, Will.I.Am, Emeli Sande, Jack White and Nero to just name a few. Luhrmann collaborated with Lana Del Rey to pen the ‘buzz single’ for the film entitled ‘Young and Beautiful’ a snippet of which appears in the official trailer for the film and will be released as an official single. This all makes the soundtrack as exciting as the film itself and with Luhrmann directing it is sure to create a lot of buzz, even more so than the amount already generated. With the high profile, and incredibly talented, actors and actresses he has cast it is sure to be fantastic and if it does reach the expectations placed on it expect this film to feature at award ceremonies next year. DVD RELEASE

It’s hard to ignore Argo. It swept the board and won every ‘Best Picture’ award there was during this years award season and its director, Ben Affleck, won every best director award going bar one... the Academy Award which he was somewhat ignored for to much bemusement by everyone. I’ll admit that personally I was shocked by how well this film did with such tough competition and I preferred other films to it. That said I can take nothing away from it, and it was still a fantastic film! And with so many people awarding it such prestigious awards such as the Academy Award for best picture it deserves recognition. The film is set during the 1979 Iranian hostage crisis and depicts CIA operative Tony Mendez leading six US diplomats from Iran staging them as a Canadian film crew making an epic Sci-Fi space adventure similar in style to Star Wars called Argo. This plan seemed destined to fail but getting renowned film producer Lester Siegel on-board helped the rouse get a bit of kudos and realism. Siegel is played by the incredible Alan Arkin and his best supporting actor nominations were definitely well deserved. It is a gripping edge of the seat drama at times as you really connect with the characters and hope to see them make it out alive and there are some very tense moments especially towards the end in the airport. If I have one thing to say though don’t read up about what actually happened in reality, it may ruin the film for you. If you watch it and enjoy it for what it is then it is a pretty fantastic piece of cinema.

Fast and Furious 6, the sixth instalment in the Fast and the Furious film franchise will land this month and shows the longevity of the whole series (it was all the way back in 2001 that the very first film came out!). This film follows on from Fast 5 where Vin Diesel and Paul Walker’s characters Dom and Brian pulled off their heist in Rio much to the distaste of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s Luke Hobbs. Due to the robbery they and the rest of the crew are unable to return home to American shores and end up scattered across the world living unhappy lives with millions of dollars each (I know, right?). Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson needs them back though, not to have them arrested but to

help him with a little issue he has in bringing down an organisation of highly skilled mercenary drivers who themselves are spread over 12 countries. The payment for their assistance is a complete pardon for their previous crimes so that they can go home. A stable and believable plot is something that this franchise never really grasps but they’re still highly enjoyable films to watch and although this preview may well sound rather sceptical I am looking forward to seeing where they take it. Heavy rumours of a 7th film are cropping up fast at the moment as well so it looks like this one could keep going for a long while yet. Motor fans rejoice!

Set to continue on from the first film which came out way back in 2009 it sees the majority of cast and crew returning from the first film with Chris Pine reprising his role of Captain James T Kirk and all other familiar faces still present with the new additions of Benedict Cumberbatch and Alice Eve added to the all star list. In this film the crew of the Starship Enterprise is called back home to earth where they find an unstoppable force of terror who has destroyed and detonated the entire

fleet and all it stands for leaving the world in crisis. The worrying factor is that this force has come from their own organisation and from within. Captain Kirk leads the manhunt and ends up caught in a war zone in trying to capture this one man weapon of mass destruction leaving the crew torn in a game of life and death with love and friendships tested to breaking point. Can Kirk save earth whilst protecting the only family he knows – his crew. Cumberbatch joins the cast to play the villain in the film but it’s being kept under tight wraps as to who he will actually portray. For those of you who aren’t a Trekkie

BigScreen like myself I will give a brief explanation of who his rumoured characters are. Firstly there is Gary Mitchell a character from the original series who when knocked unconscious by a magnetic space storm and awakes with godlike powers and psionic abilities like telekinesis and telepathy. The second and more likely is that of Khan,

a genetically engineered superhuman. He tries to take over the enterprise and is exiled by Kirk before escaping again in the second Trek film ‘The Wrath of Kahn’. But who knows! All Star Trek fans will have to wait for the release to find out, I can’t wait!

THE HANGOVER PART 3 - MAY 24th The wolf pack return in the third instalment of the Hangover trilogy. This time though there is supposedly no marriage, no bachelor party or anything going on so what’s going to cause the drama? With this lot involved probably not much! I’ll admit I’m very sceptical about this third addition in the franchise as for me the second one was scraping the barrel and only just made it out the other side with some integrity intact. The first film was something special, and could have lived long in the history as one of the best standalone comedy films around but with these sequels I worry that it’s losing its charm. Part II stuck with the theme of the first film and it became a bit predictable and lost the edge, it will be interesting to see how they go about the third film. Returning to Vegas for this one will hopefully bring the whole thing back home as it would and give the film a recognisable feel but will it just be a rehash of the first? I think they might pull it off with this one, or at least I hope they will anyway. Like the majority of people I’ll probably still go and see it regardless and it is guaranteed to contain laughs with the writers and comedy actors involved.

written by Tom cotter A standard love story with a beautifully original concept is what you find when you sit down with the film ‘Upside Down’. Starring Kirsten Dunst and Jim Sturgess the film depicts two planets together with double gravity, one on top of the other. As the film begins it explains that all matter has the gravity of the world it is from, and although opposite matter can be offset by weights from the other, matter from one world will burn up in the other within a matter of hours. Yes! The concept is a little confusing but once you get your science head on it’s actually a really original idea. On to the love story and we meet Adam and Eden (Yes the originality kind of ended at the concept) who are from opposite worlds but who fall in love as young children into young adults before a terrible accident leaves Eden with amnesia and no memory of her entire childhood. Cue Adam searching for every way possible to reconnect with her by going ‘Up Top’ to be with her. I won’t give away the entire plot as it’s relatively predictable as it is. That said it is a really nice film. Now, nice isn’t a word that’s going to win awards but it’s a way to describe a film that will keep you satisfied and leave you with a smile on your face at the end. They had the potential to leave it with a horrifically sad ending but of course it had to be happy! Ignore the stealing of ideas and clichés and sit down with a loved one and enjoy what will become some peoples guilty pleasures.

I love doing classes but with my busy schedule I don’t always have time to get to the gym. I always get asked what exercise I do and how I keep in shape, so I thought about doing a DVD it all went from there. What’s the main important thing to gaining the ideal summer body? There are loads of different work outs to do on my DVD that work all parts of the body, so overall you are working on everything. It’s so important to work on your whole body. Diet is so important as well. What Target Audience are you trying to reach out for exactly? My DVD is suitable for all ages. I think it’s really important to start working out from a young age and learn to look after yourself so I hope that I can inspire people of all ages to take care of their health and fitness. The good thing about the DVD it’s really enjoyable which is so important.

blake Firstly Tell me some background information on you as an artist? Well I do 98% of things on my own! A lot of people see that I do the shows I do and hear the type of tracks that I make and assume that I have a manager (or even a team) helping me. Most of it is just pure hard work and then help from my friends and fans. I used to volunteer at One.Aim Studio’s in Hockley and they helped me massively in the beginning and basically allowed me to develop my self into who I am now and I entered Aspire4U’s Project Talent UK and came runner up in 2011; working with them is a blessing too as they have also helped me progress.

What’s been your biggest achievement to date? Performing at the Drake concert at the Birmingham LG Arena both nights! It was immense! At that point it was the most people that I’ve performed to in England! I got so much feedback/ love/positive criticism/attention you name it. My Twitter followers went nuts, my mentions made my phone freeze. Still to this day its the best atmosphere I’ve ever performed in.

What person or thing inspires you to write music? I get inspired by people around me. If I feel something is a great track - its a great track, I’m not bitter; but at the same time I always wonder if I could do better and if I can, when I get that little drive of ambition I make my best music. So there are so many people just in Birmingham alone that inspire me because I see the Birmingham music scene as like a kettle. Everybody in it knows how good & how hot it is and its about 96 degrees - so nearly boiled , defiantly bubbling below and around the surface with a few people popping out & spilling into the scene. If your not familiar with it however, you will not know how good the music is until it boils and when that happens, it will be a madness.

How did you get to where you are today musically? Just through hard work! I know that’s annoying to hear as an answer but its the truth in a nut shell. I broke my foot last year and decided that because I couldn’t walk or do anything I’d see how may shows I could get for when I was better.. I did 8 Christmas lights switch-ons in 8 different cities to over 40,000 people in total - it was amazing.

What Advice would you give to someone in your position to break into the music industry? I would say use the resources that are around! I know this can be like saying “go and get me that fish from the shop please” in the sense that where and what are these resources. Google is as good a place to start as any. Look up what musical rights societies there are, research how artists get their music heard - its not all about sending a track to a DJ.. They get hundreds a week. With YouTube now, there is a perfect way of exposing yourself (if you’re good enough - this is the massive point though). If you are not, then you need to be honest with yourself and find out why people don’t like your music - because they are right as they have an opinion. So find out why and then address that. By going to local events just to observe what is said is a good way as well.

Enduring a near split and the loss of founding members we find out how paramore came back so strong Words by Tom Cotter

Paramore have never been more optimistic. It’s rare for a band so torn from what they were to return with such a fantastic, let alone upbeat, album such as their brand new selftitled offering ‘Paramore’. Although two of their founding members in the form of brothers Zac and Josh Farro departed the band back in 2010 the familiar faces of Jeremy Davis on the bass and Taylor York on guitar remain let alone their long-standing ever present singer Hayley Williams. It was a decision for the remaining trio whether to end their journey together or to carry on when their associates decided to quit, but their decision to soldier on is being proven to be the best choice they could have possibly made. For me Paramore have been an institution of my youth. Right back in 2005 as a 14 year old listening to their debut album ‘All We Know Is Falling’ my eyes were opened as a young guitarist to modern alternative rock with tracks like ‘Emergency’ remaining one of my favourite ever tracks to this day. Of course my love for the group was helped by them having an incredibly attractive female lead singer which myself and all my friends decided would most definitely be the woman to marry once we were older. Sadly this still hasn’t come to action yet. Having Hayley at the front of the band made them unique at the time and something very special. It’s interesting to read that the male members of the band were ‘edgy’ about her fronting the band in their formation although I’m sure now they are pleased they agreed to let her (unless you’re the Farro brothers perhaps). Two years later they released what is arguably their finest album (although I would give their new album that accolade now) in the form of ‘Riot’ which went platinum in 2008. This along with the third album ‘Brand New Eyes’ are the albums which held the songs that took them to a new level in my eyes namely due to seeing them live on the Brand New Eyes tour. It was also around this time they began to receive more wide spread recognition with the track ‘Decode’ featuring as a lead single for the incredibly popular yet immensely controversial Twilight film which to give it it’s due was the best film in the rather dreadful franchise. Saying this though Hayley herself like millions of others around the globe is a

massive fan of the film and these fans of the film helped the band be pushed more into the spotlight and out of the niche that they had before. These albums helped to catapult them into international stardom receiving three Grammy nominations as well as platinum and gold singles like Misery Business, Crush Crush Crush and That’s What You Get.

With this new album the musicianship has gone up tenfold and they are proving to the world that they are a force to be reckoned with. Previous albums had shown fantastic song writing but the musicality had been standard to the style of music they were making. With this new release they are fully unleashing their talents and showing everyone what established musicians they all are being far more adventurous. “People obviously give Hayley credit for being an amazing singer, but I don’t think they really understand how versatile she is and how much her voice can do. You really hear different sides of her on this album” states

guitarist Taylor York. I mentioned before how optimistic the band have been over the new material and Hayley sums up this feeling with references to other classic media. “I had this kind of Tony in West Side Story moment when he sings about how something is coming. He doesn’t know what it is, but it’s going to be great. A lot of the new songs came out of that. They’re about needing to find whatever’s next.” Finding where to take the band was one of the most important aspects when starting out again as a trio. “It’s a lot happier and brighter album than people might expect given what’s happened. We’ve wanted to write songs like this for so long, but weren’t there emotionally. Now we are” states Davis (Bass Guitar). It’s true to say that myself, like many, would have expected the album to be negative and angry after the sour nature in which the previous members left the band. Hayley has expressed how happy she is that the album isn’t angry and that they managed to create the positive and uplifting album that they all so desired.

The group have written songs that have fully maintained the energy and youthful spirit that the band has always had but show a clear evolution in themselves. A growth which has come from breakdowns and rebuilding, leading them to where they are today. One of the key differences with this new album is that of Taylor York stepping into a songwriters role where he hadn’t been before. Hayley explains the shock of this, “I don’t think anyone knew Taylor had it in him, not that we had any reason to doubt that he did, but he just never had the opportunity before. While we were writing I would walk into the room and hear something and be like, ‘what’s that? That sounds insane’ and he’d say ‘Oh it’s just something I was doing for me’ and I’d say ‘No we’re going to use that’”. York adds on how the experience to write with Hayley pitted the two on a complete new journey that the band hadn’t been on before. This is what led to the evolved and mature Paramore sound listeners will experience with the new material. Producer of the album Justin Meldal-Johnsen encouraged them to not cut off ideas because they didn’t fit the ideals previously expected of them. It is down to this mindset that has allowed them to progress and reach out to an entirely new set of people and fans. “(Justin) really found the heart in our new songs. He didn’t want to change them, he just wanted to bring more life into them” explains York. Songs such as ‘Be Alone’ and ‘Ain’t It Fun’ were written during Hayley’s time living alone for the first time in Los Angeles recording the album. It is experiences such as this, life lessons if you would, that have shaped most the writing. ‘Fast In My Car’ was written about the friendship the three of them hold for each other and the great times they have together in the band. This togetherness and camaraderie is something the band have always strived for, so that they can give the best they can back to their fans. They are most excited to be reunited with their fans again as they prepare themselves to get back on the road to tour and promote the Paramore album. “Our connection with our fans is the most important thing to us” says Davis, who continues to add “I’m really excited to get back into the swing of it and feel that energy coming from the audience”. For the band this was the album they always wanted to make, and for this reason they chose to self title it. Williams sums this up perfectly by simply saying; “We felt that the best way to give it a name was just to call it what it is. This album is us”. As the track ‘Proof’ states, “Do you love me? ALBUM REVIEW So weâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ve heard from them, but what do we think of the latest offering?

Cover Story My first taste of this new album came in the form of hearing ‘Now’ on the radio a good few months before the release of it as a single let alone the album. It didn’t really register for me and the group had kind of slipped my mind after so long away but it became instantly recognisable as a Paramore track once Hayley started singing, but, it didn’t grab me like I wanted or what I’d grown to expect from the band. That said I did find myself singing it to myself randomly as the song grew on me the more and more I heard it. Songs that are growers are annoying at times but in no way not brilliant. Perhaps this one’s brilliance was hidden at the time. Next was three days before the release. A live performance of the lead single ‘Still Into You’ on TV which grabbed me straight away. It was fantastic, upbeat, progressed well and kept the interest going throughout., It was a little poppy for Paramore but still very good and anyone who knows me knows that I love a little bit of pop every now and again! This track got me very excited for the imminent release and this brings me onto the album itself. I went through the album and was immediately impressed by what the remaining members had pulled together and as I continued to listen I realised that it was something rather special and fantastic in lots of ways. This album is different. It’s not going to lose many of the old faithful fans but it’s definitely going to gain them a whole bunch of new ones. Classic Paramore is still here in the form of tracks like album opener ‘Fast In My Car’, ‘Proof’, ‘Part II’ and the frantic ‘Anklebiters’. This track in particular is one of my favourites with energy in bucket loads and incredible vocals and lyrical lines including the personal favourite;

eas whilst ‘Aint It Fun’ has funk elements with slap bass from Davis and a gospel choir at the end of it. Now, that to your average Paramore fan would induce a strange confused face but I urge you to listen to it. Tracks like this really let the members unleash their musicality as their talents are portrayed more so than ever before. There are also some lovely little interlude breaks featuring Hayley singing with a Ukulele. They include little miniature tracks such as ‘I’m Not Angry Anymore’ which perfectly sums up the mind set of the album, also with the Ukulele being the only predominant instrument in these they are incredibly uplifting pieces. Altogether the selection of songs is something special, as with all albums you have a couple that aren’t quite up to the level of the others but on the whole it is a very complete and enjoyable album. Regardless of if you’re a fan of the band or not I’d recommend you take a listen. It is a massive step for the three members who I see a very bright future forming for on the ground work of this release.

One of the strongest tracks ‘(Now I’m one of those) Crazy Girls’ has elements of Doo-Wop in its first half and would fit perfectly into a 1950’s themed film including a lot of slow dancing. This track morphs beautifully as full Paramore power is unleashed in the second half of the track making a stunning piece of music as a whole. TEEN STAR Last month Street Cred Magazine wished Darshae McKenzie good luck with her Teen Star journey and she’s got through to the next stage! This leaves her only one step away from performing at the IndigO2 within the O2 Arena in London. Being aged only 13 years old this is a massive achievement and having made it in the area finals I’d like to give a massive congratulations from everyone here. From the previous auditions Darshae shined for the judges and they must have seen potential, now she’s on the verge of being victorious. When I met Darshae previously she stated she wanted to be like Beyonce, as her Mom quoted “She’s just Beyonce mad”. She’s on the way to being the next best thing. Having many inspiring artists that have came off from the TeenStar competition it’s nice to think that she could be next to achieve some success. Just like X Factor or any other singing talent show over 9,000 hopefuls entered Teen star hoping to be the next best thing in British music. Unfortunately though there can only be one winner. Having featured Darshae before this is a way of a congratulating her as Street Cred does notice people’s achievements and helps people destined to achieve their dreams. When I met Darshae last month I saw a shy and timid girl who I never would of imagined to be a girl with a massive and powerful voice inside of her.

Due to the talent in Teenstar the expectation is very high considering the talented artists that have came out successful from the previous years. It’s incredible how the talent increases each time. Teenstar aren’t looking for an everyday individual to go into the music industry but an individual to make an impact and have professional potential, making a difference. Chris Grayton the events coordinator for Teenstar commented about the competition and said “we are looking to find an act that has something unique to offer, another Birdy or Lucy Spraggan that can go all the way, with both showing the ability to deliver a strong live performance but also potentially to become a recording artist. There is so much talent out there I’m sure we can find that star again” with a bit of courage and determination anything is possible I hope they see a star within Darshae.

The reason for picking Darshae Mckenzie for our Mrs Street Cred again this month is because she has showed us that with a massive passion for music at such a young age and reflecting her favourite inspirations like Beyonce. She has showed us that nothing will stand in her way from her achieving what she really wants to do. With the encouragement of her mother who has helped her get to where she has always dreamt to be which is on stage performing. She shows that with determination and inner belief in yourself you can literally achieve anything regardless your age. If you dream big and believe you can achieve it, no one can stop you from achieving what you set your heart to. I wish Darshae the best of luck for the area finals. Regardless what the outcome is this young talented individual has a bright future ahead of her. Darshae McKenzie, remember the name because I’m sure you’ll be seeing it in the charts one day. DYNAMITE PETE A pro wrestler from Birmingham has recently found success in his wrestling career having given the chance to go on the ‘Michinoku Pro’s 20th Anniversary Tour’ in Japan. We caught up with him to find out a little more about ‘Dynamite Pete’ himself. We’ve picked Pete as our Mr Street this month as he has shown that if you believe in something, and dreamt about it from an early age determination will grant you success.

Firstly Tell me some background information about you and what it is that you do? I’m a 19 year old pro wrestler from Birmingham. I go by the ring name ‘Dynamite’ Pete Dunne and have been wrestling for 7 years now as I was lucky enough to start younger than most at 12 years old. When I first started training in 2006 I would make a trip to Coventry every Sunday to train at the Midlands Pro wrestling school. Since then I’ve had the chance to wrestle all around Europe, America and at this moment in time I’m currently on my first Japanese tour.

How did you become the wrestler you are today? When I started wrestling I didn’t do much research before heading to a training session, I just found what appeared to be the most local to myself. Once I was working on shows for other companies I realised that there was a lot was missing in the training I received. This is meant I learnt a great deal of what I know whilst on the road travelling and doing shows with my tag team partner Damian Dunne. As cliché as it sounds, I definitely believe that perseverance has been key in learning and becoming the wrestler I am now and the same positive mental attitude will help me to keep improving. Aside from that I think being a fan of wrestling has helped a lot. I still watch wrestling every day, although my tastes in wrestling and the way in which I view it has changed, I still enjoy watching of wrestling.

Mr & Miss SC What’s been your biggest achievement to date? My biggest achievement is getting on the tour that I’m currently involved in which is Michinoku Pro’s 20th Anniversary tour in Japan, this has been a great learning curve for me as I am living in the dojo over a 3 month period so when I’m not having matches I’m training and learning a very different style.

You now wrestle in Japan, how did that happen? It’ll came about very suddenly, it wasn’t some thing I expected to happen until the near future but I’m obviously very glad that it did. Back in England I wrestle shows for a company called 4 front wrestling where I’m the current junior heavyweight champion. 4FW have a working relationship with Michinoku pro and have sent three of their home grown roster members over to Japan in the past. I’m very thankful to 4FW for putting their faith in me and putting my name forward for this tour as it’s a great learning curve and life experience.

Where do you see yourself in the next 12 months? Over the next 12 months I just want to keep up the momentum that this tour has given me. I would like to be a regular staple in more of the top companies in Europe as well as hopefully heading back out to Japan again. My main goal for the next few months is to keep getting in to better shape. Being away at the moment with less of the distractions that England brings has meant I’ve been training three time a day which is some thing I’m definitely making the most of.

What advice would you give to someone deciding to become a pro Wrestler? Do research before deciding which training school to join. I heavily recommend the 4 Front wrestling training school in Swindon. More and more people are moving from other areas in the UK to be involved with this company. If moving or travelling long distant isn’t an option right now then please look for some where else reputable nearer to you. Other than that, make sure you enjoy the whole process, keep the PMA!

Ford Mustang GT5.0 Black Featured in Drive In the beginning of the movie Ryan Gosling drives a Chevrolet Impala, during the robbery scene. Later in the movie he gets behind the wheel of a black ford Mustang 5.0. This is where Goslingâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s character begins to change. It would be a stretch to claim the Mustang caused this transformation yet the black and menacing car symbolises a dark side of Goslingâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s character. A side that reveals he will do whatever it takes to survive, ultimately creating the rising action of the film.

The Mini Cooper Paceman is the latest edition in the Mini Collection as Mini continue to be creative with their range of vehicles. The Mini Paceman can reach speeds of up to 119 MPH with a pretty impressive 0-62MPH acceleration as well. As a small car it’s incredibly impressive and you can see why the models are beloved around the nation and the world over. Mini fans have been snatching this new designed cooper up so they obviously agree with the styling, but you can make your own mind up.

In conclusion its clear these are two complete different types of cars, One is a supermini and the other a supercar... They are both incredible cars, The Mini is famous as the small and ‘affordable’ car here yet I find the Jaguar incredible with an amazing sound and beautiful 68

Jaguar C-X16 is soon to be the latest edition of the excellent Jaguar range. As it isn’t in production yet no one can really comment on the driving abilities of the car so we’ll base this just on what we know. Jaguars Concept makes it’s production début as the new F-Type with a supercharge 3.0 litre V-6 that should make it at a lovely 380hp. Expect at least one turbocharged 2.0 litre four cylinder direct from the Range Rover Evoke. Jaguar C-X16 is an absolutely beautiful model of car and it’ll be on everyone’s wish list. An aluminium body will keep weight down but obviously put the price up. The creators of this model have stated it’s one to watch out for.

It’s the car that Vin Diesel’s character wrecks at the end of the film. It looks incredible, and those who know what to look for can see minor changes to the trim for the film making it look like a completely different car altogether. It’s just an incredible car visually and performance wise.

KINDLE FIRE HD REVIEW words by tom cotter

Gadgets The Kindle Fire HD is in no way an iPad. It isn’t a Samsung Galaxy Tab, This tablet is a completely different breed to the other big hitters on the market. When I first started using the Fire I was amazed at the quality of the product I was holding. Remember that Amazon sell these things for £159 (16GB Version) which I think everyone can agree is an unbeatable price. That’s £240 less than a full sized iPad and £100 less than the iPad mini. I’ve always been sceptical about other brands of tablet mainly because I never felt the app stores were up to scratch when compared to the Apple store that has become so widely regarded as the best available. Though with other brands losing out because of this, they had to step up their game and I have been incredibly impressed by the depth and big name apps that feature in Amazons store. Gaming is a large part of the pull with tablets and Kindle have made sure these feature prominently in their store. Big favourites like Temple Run and Angry Birds feature as well as more high end games like Real Racing and even The Sims. Other apps that are widely received are the BBC iPlayer as well as other TV Catchup services which show off the Fire HD’s simply stunning 7inch HD display which makes viewing images and watching films/TV a dream. One thing you will notice when you play things on the device, particularly music, is the incredibly stereo speakers that are built inside from Dolby Audio. It gives you an incredible watching experience and is hands down the best sound i’ve heard from a tablet or small handheld device, Massive credit to Amazon for some of the best visuals and sounds available.

Like all Tablets on the market the device features Email set up and contact/address books etc as well as a front facing camera designed for skyping but which also works as an entertaining regular camera if your the sort to take photos of yourself. Being a Kindle it is obviously best in it’s class as an eBook reader and you won’t find a better digital device to read books and view magazines on. The range of books is also obviously going to be the largest available although the magazine selection is limited compared to other stores. One of the major things about other devices such as the iPad is the incredible app store with apps which allow you to do extensive work in the form of presentations, word processing, photo and video editing, music creation and other incredibly useful things. This is a large area that the Kindle Fire HD does fall down on. This is why I said at the start that this is a different breed. For me the Fire HD is an entertainment device not an all rounder, but what it does in the form of entertainment is massive and for such a small price people would be silly to not take it seriously. Highly recommended.

Gadget Show Live hit the NEC again last month with five days full of the latest technology and inventions as well as the live presentation of the show itself. Some of the biggest names in electrical gadgetry as well as companies and entrepreneurs were on show to showcase their newest, best and upcoming products for testing by eager members of the public who had bought the tickets for the event. Whether you went looking for something specific in the realms of cameras or laptops or just went to have a look at what was available Iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;m sure you left desiring something unusual and probably rather expensive. Always having a huge pull when it comes to the amount of people visiting due to the show it is the same vein as Top Gear Live. Shows such as this that are at the NEC are normally just massive shops where sales are pushed more than showcasing new products which is a shame . Still though, for all gadget fans it was definitely one not to miss.

we were invited to visit aston martin in warwickshire to show all of you the fantastic apprenticeship opportunities available for young people today! Aston Martin the premium car brand offer some of the most exciting apprenticeship opportunities available to young people today. We were invited to their Warwickshire base to meet and greet some of their current recruitment team. On the next few pages you can find details of the apprenticeship opportunities available, there are two, so go and read up which one is most suitable for you. On the right here you can see photos of two young apprentices, Gary Poole and Jason Rowe meeting with deputy prime minister Nick Clegg at a reception to showcase the creative talents of apprentices and their contribution

to the UK economy. The event entitlted â&#x20AC;&#x2DC;Made By Apprenticesâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; at Admiralty House in London back in February as part of National Apprenticeship Week. With a brand new shiny DB9 they stole the show. Jason Rowe, 22, applied and completed the assessment at Aston to secure a placement in the painting operations and has received numerous internal commendations for the work he has achieved, Gary Poole, 21, joined as part of the technician recruitment last year. Gary has no formal qualifications and had a lot of periods of unemployment so it is great to see the opportunities being presented to him.

Careers & Education We spoke to two second year apprentices during our visit to the factory, Tom and Reece. Tom is working within Electrical Engineering and Reece works in the Trim shop. T - “I look after the machines which tell the car how to work. Each module in the car has to be coded in. I have to keep it maintained and updated.” Tom and Reece both applied in different ways, Tom doing it the most common way via the apprenticeship website whereas Reece knew someone who worked their already. We asked both of them what made them want to work for Aston Martin and what are the good points to the company. R - “It’s a good company to work for, the cars that go out the door, you have a bit in it, something you can see and be proud of.” T - “It’s a big company to work for, I didn’t think i’d have the opportunity to do this when I left school. It’s nice to work in a site with a lot of like minded people, everyone’s really friendly around the site.” Both stress how important it is for people to be made more aware of what apprenticeships have to offer after their schools were less supportive of them plugging A levels instead. R - “People need to be more aware of apprenticeships. I didn’t know you could do Trim, I didn’t know what Trim was. Schools need to make apprenticeships more important. My school wanted everyone to go to 6th form and get A levels.” T - “Yeah it opens a lot of doors, the apprenticeships give you the opportunities you didn’t have before.” R - “I’d recommend doing an apprenticeship over A levels and University.” The downsides to the apprenticeship was to do with the liaise between the company and the college they learn and train at, in this case Warwickshire college. The fantastic thing about Apprenticeships is it is earning and learning. With Aston Martin you would be earning £12,000 whilst learning on the job and having multiple doors opened for yourself. After this apprenticeship you would expect these men to be on £22,000 and within 10 years on £35,000 - £40,000.

TOP TIPS FOR BUDDING APPRENTICESHIPS DO YOUR HOMEWORK Research the apprenticeship as well as the company. Find out what you will get out of it! Can you progress to higher level qualification? Do Additional work experience Do more than is organised through your school. It will make your CV stand out and be impressive to employers and allow you to try something out before committing. sell yourself Make yourself stand out! Demonstrate a passion and explain why you want to work for their company. What values do you have to add? Be smart, be punctual, be respectful and show off your achievements. Keep your options open Have a backup plan. You might not get the position you’re going for. Think about your skills and what you enjoy, you can probably apply them to numerous positions. Commit for the long term THIS IS A CAREER CHOICE NOT JUST TRAINING. REMEMBER THAT!

Loves Restaurant: Absolutely everything about this restaurant is amazing, you have great food, incredible atmosphere, it’s just incredible. If you’re looking for high quality food and a perfect night out then this is definitely a restaurant to consider. The food looks amazing and tastes as good as it looks. Ming Moon: This restaurant is an incredible Chinese Restaurant. The interior of the restaurant is superb and the food tastes incredible. Everything about the place is magnificent there is no question why it’s a favourite place to go to eat in Birmingham. The atmosphere is amazing, I would definitely recommend the place without a shadow of doubt. On the plus side it’s not that expensive too!

Buffet island: A typical family restaurant that contains different cultures and the variety of different styles of chinest cuisine. The staff are incredibly helpful making sure you and your family have an enjoyable meal. The food is incredible and absolutely mouth watering. I absolutely love the place as it’s ideal for all ages.

THE NATIONAL ANNOUNCE MORE DATES The National has confirmed the adding of three dates to their November tour, another date in Manchester and London. They have also announcement the album release date for their sixth studio album ‘Trouble will Find Me’ May 20th 2013. The national has always been creative with the music they create beloved by varies of different people. Aloha! The beautiful city of Honolulu is the capital of the US State, Hawaii, located on the Pacific island of Oahu. Home to nearly 400,000 people, it is also the setting for Academy Award winning, The Descendants, starring George Clooney. As well as The Descendants, Honolulu has hosted the Box Office smashing Pearl Harbour and also the Paul Thomas Anderson movie, Punch-Drunk Love, Starring Adam Sandler and Emily Watson. The city is home to a number of tourist attractions, such as Honolulu Zoo, which features over 1,230 animals in specially designed habitats. Also in the city is the Waikiki Aquarium, which is located next to the coral reef on the Waikiki shoreline and contains more than 490 species of marine plants and animals. Where to stay? Johannesburg is the largest city in South Africa, but somewhat surprisingly, is not one of its three capital cities, being beaten by Pretoria, Cape Town and Bloemfontein. With a population of over one million, Johannesburg is one of the 50 largest metropolitan areas in the world. Although not traditionally a tourist city, Johannesburg has of late seen the installation of a number of tourist attractions. These are centred around history museums, such as the Apartheid Museum, where you can discover South Africa’s dark past. Other museums in the area are Mandela House and the Hector Pieterson Museum. If museums are not your thing, then why not check out the local amusement parks, including Gold Reef City, which is focussed on Johannesburg’s history of gold mining. As well as all this, Johannesburg was the setting for the Oscar nominated film, District 9, where an alien spaceship breaks down over the city, leading to an entire district of the city being turned into an alien ghetto.

There are a great number of activities available to keep you entertained. Besides the ones previously mentioned, you could get a tour FNB (First National Bank Stadium) also known as the Soccer City. It’ll be an experience considering majority of the world cup 2010 games were played there. Although he did pick up his long term girlfriend in the city, may her rest in peace! ‘The Bourne Identity’ is considered to be one of the greatest spy action films of all time of course starring the incredible Matt Damon. Part of the film is shot here in which he drives a classic Mini down the tiny streets of Paris escaping the Police. In this chase you see a huge amount of Parisian landmarks like the Tour Du Eifell and the Arc Du Triomphe. Where’s right to stay? Having many beautiful landmarks and incredible surroundings around Massachusetts it’s absolutely clear why everyone love’s the place. The scenery is breathtaking. Massachusetts is the home of the multi-award winning smash hit movie ‘The Fighter’ starring Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg. Although this film mainly took place in the suburbs it’s nice to see the famous city at it’s centre. Where’s right to stay? Courtyard Boston/ Lowell Chelmsford. The staff makes sure you have a wonderful stay and enjoy every second of your time there. Your surrounded by peaceful features and beautiful scenery. The Bedroom suites are incredible and beds are extremely comfortable so you would want to re-book just to stay there again. Such a great stay. Entertainment needs? You can revisit the boxing gym that was featured in the movie or

maybe stroll around the landmarks identifying other historic monuments of history. Get a tour around the city familiarising yourself with the place.

The magnificent architecture within the buildings shows why there isn’t any wonder why everyone love’s America especially in Massachusetts. How about watching a basketball game with the local Massachusetts college team from the NCAA league (National Collegiate Athletic Association) as well as the Massachusetts Minutemen who are in fact #6 in their league at the moment. of Philadelphia in a quiet suburb located in the Delaware river region. You will have Free Wi-fi around the hotel so you could still get hold of loved ones through Facebook/Skype etc. This specific hotel is near some big city attractions so there isn’t a shadow of doubt that you’d have some incredible fun. You will be happy to know it’s a magnificent place to stay!

Philadelphia is of course home to one of the most iconic and memorable movie characters of all time. The scintillating Rocky Balboa. Unlike it’s Killadelphia nickname everyone is friendly and incredible to be around. The iconic location that we all remember from the Rocky films is in the original film where we see him train in the town for his fight where he runs up the famous stairs of 26th Street. You can relive the Rocky movie and also do it yourself just don’t injure yourself in the process.

You can literally do everything in Philadelphia from going to an American football game to watch the Philadelphia Eagles play or if you love basketball you’ve got the 76ers.
