Downtown Police Station - Thursday Afternoon Louise the motel maid is in the detective's office. In the Name of Love Louise Every day was the same for me around here. Knock, open, clean, walk out, repeat. It was a simple job, but I liked it. Excitement was rare in my daily routine, but that all changed when I met Ms. Alden. (Melancholy tone) She was who I wished I could be. Confident, admirable, and as pretty as a picture. I'm not the only one who felt this way. When she would walk into a room, all eyes darted toward her. She was always the main attraction. 14

Detective (Taps pen on notepad impatiently) Louise, can you tell me more about her relationships and habits?

Louise (Embarrassed) Of course. Her lover, well...former lover, seemed to give her anything she wanted to keep her happy. I think he could tell her interest in him was fleeting. Ms. Alden had a routine just like me, but hers was more entertaining. She would leave the bar across the street with the most beautiful people, walk to our motel, and request a room. The front desk receptionist, Mr.Bridges, was infatuated with Ms.Alden, too. He'd do his best to get her interested, but she was hard to please.

Ms. Alden was very kind to me. We would conversate anytime I would clean her room. She confided in me about her relationship and how she felt it was twisted, but she still loved him. I felt bad for her at times, but was still envious of her intriguing life. She should be thankful.

Detective (Intrigued)

Explain when and how you met her dead lover.

Louise

Well, on Thursday morning at 9:oo a.m, I finally met her boy toy. I met him lying face-up on a bed, lifeless, with a single slash across his throat. I stared at him for a long time, probably too long, but he was so beautiful, even while dead.

How did the policemen on my team approach the situation when they arrived?

Louise

The police instantly suspected Ms. Alden. They wanted to take her in for questioning, but she was nowhere to be found. They were all over the motel questioning everyone for potential witnesses. Oddly enough, Mr.Bridges called out of work sick. The police finally got to me, and I told them I knew nothing. They noticed blood on my hands and I explained that it was from when I entered the room to clean and I happened to touch the doorknobs. I asked the policemen if any clues were left behind. All they said is they found a note that said ™Love is dark, twisted, and beautiful∫.
