Sure, it gets dark early in winter, but that hasn’t stopped real winter sports fans from being active for a long time. The Stubai Valley has a wide range of offers for all those who can’t get enough during the day or only get going in the evening.

When the last rays of sun disappear behind the mountain peaks, it’s time to get the toboggans and skis out of the cellar. Because now the lights go on in the Stubai Valley. While the toboggan run, cross-country ski run and piste are brightly lit, everything around you is dark. All you can see are the stars and village lights, bathing Stubai in a romantic light. This unique atmosphere makes evening activities so special. Part of the night-time fun is, of course, stopping off at one of the many huts to warm up and have a hearty snack.

NIGHT SLEDDING

Tobogganing, the number two popular sport in Tyrol, is so much fun that you can actually sit on the toboggan day and night. Several of the ten toboggan runs in the Stubai Valley invite you to romantic night tobogganing. Four of them are also floodlit, which makes tobogganing at night a treat for the eyes too. At the Elfer lifts in Neustift, Serles cable cars in Mieders and the Schlick 2000 skiing centre in Fulpmes sledding friends can also ride up very comfortably with a cable car in the evening to the starting point of the sled runs.

NIGHT SKIING

Night skiing is also becoming increasingly popular. The next brightly lit slope is never far away because when the sun sets on Thursday evening, the lights go on at the Sonnenberg lift in Milders. A sophisticated lighting system ensures perfect visibility on the slopes from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. At 300 metres long with a difference in altitude of 100 metres, the Sonnenberg lift is ideal for exceptional skiing fun in the evening. In addition to the perfect piste conditions, the permanent downhill race course with automatic timing and scoreboard also contributes to this. Families and groups can also compete in their very own private ski race here. By the way: one of the largest night skiing areas in Europe, the Bergeralm, is situated very close to the Stubai Valley, in Steinach am Brenner.

NIGHT CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING TRAIL

The 2.4 kilometre long night cross-country skiing trail around Milders and on the Autenfeld in Neustift is floodlit daily from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and is groomed for both skating and classic skiers. Nordic fans meet here for an evening workout on the cross-country skiing trail. From beginners trying out the narrow cross-country skis for the first time, amateur athletes doing a few laps to relax after a hectic day at work, and the cross-country skiing club professionals preparing for the next competitions on the night trail. The two laps are connected by the Ruetz bridge and are suitable for all levels. You can join the cross-country skiing trails at Milders, very close to the Sonnenberg lift, or in Auten right next to the Stubai Valley main road, opposite the heating and power station.

ICE DISCO AND CURLING

Ice skating is a sport that all ages love. Three ice rinks are available in Stubai with the Eisarena in Fulpmes, the ice rink in Neustift and the Klaus Äuele natural ice rink. If you like skating your laps in the evening to the rhythm of the latest hits and well-known golden oldies, the ice disco is just the thing for you – in Neustift every Friday from 7.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. and in Fulpmes every Saturday from 7.00 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. A stable footing on the ice and good visual judgement, on the other hand, are required for curling and “Lattl shooting”. A little bit of ambition thrown in at the same time just adds to the fun. So there’s no shortage of sociable winter fun and top entertainment.

Reservations are required for curling.
