Module 1 How to draw a crossaint?
4
In Module 1 I was asked to draw a croissant. The very first stage was to photograph and scan the whole croissant to make elevations and plan. Then cut it and scan its sections. At the drawing stage, I used traced the outlines and cut lines of it from the printed photos. It is important to maintain its original scale so I used photoshop and lay out them in an A3 page. I got familiar to fineline pens and tracing paper in this progress. To show depth I used hatching and cross-hatching.

Axonometric Drawing
To draw axonometric view of the croissant, I laid a tracing paper 10*10 mm grids on the sections and traced the intersections of the cutline and the grid lines. I also traced another outline of the plan. Then it was rotated 45 degresss and the sections grids were added to that paper.

The Making of the New Mario World The new Mario World mainly consists three parts, which are the top layer, the left side and the frontage. Pyramids, tubes and small bricks with question marks or notes are the main elements. The bottom is a dramatic sea world. In the hidden place that not visible from the elevations, I designed it in more complex. It combines most elements, the brickes, question marked small bricks, half is water and another half is dry, and a water sewage system goes through the bricks .

The making of new landscape: “Explosion” Refer to the picture in page 10 the blue part is a boundary that is overall similar to a rectangle, while the red part shows a exploding movement, and breaking through the blue boundary towards top. In terms of geometrics, the dark blue boundary is composed of the geometries with openings, and the red “explosive” is composed of small but squeezed triangular pyramid, to show a sense of compressing so that it is going to explode.

INVISIBLE CITY Thin Cities 4: Sophronia The city is divided in to two parts. The first half-city is described very similar to an amusement park. In my opinion, it is dramatic but also unrealistic. Hence I chose many entertaining elements, such as the rocking horse, the flying machines and the amusement park background.
Macro Polo’s movement
To emphasis its approach to unrealistic world, I added an angel and a fountain with water vapour to this world. These two elements make the city closer to heaven. The second half-city reveals the cruelty of reality. It was described very similar
The invisible boundary is the boundary that devides the old quad into two parts. The top part is the cruel, depressing realistic half-city, and the bottom part is the dramatic enjoyable half-city. Macro Polo entered from the middle of the old quad, firstly turn right to the positive part.
to a normal city, including bank, market and other public buildings. However, this half section will be demolished regularly every six months.
He felt it is amazing and had glances on the flying machines and angel in under the roof. Then he continued his walking.
A clock with gears is added in the structure, representing time and industrialization. Therefore, it is a very unstable city, which is a place that people who live in always under pressure and anxiety.

However, at the corner once he turned left, he was shocked by the view. It was so different and very realistic and depressed, so he fastened his pace, passing through the old quad and stopped his journey.

REFLECTION
Overall I the experience of this subject is fantastic. I leanrt the basic skills of design, and many foundamental theory of to be an arhitect. The first thing I learnt is drawing. To represent a building of object we could alwasys use plans and sections, or axonometric or Isometric in 3D. The second thing I learn was softwares. I have learnt how to use Photoshop, Illustrater, indesign and Rhino. I really enjoyed in Module 4, since it is closer to architectural design. The module 1 was not so that successed. One reason is that it was just the start of the semester and I have not learnt any relevant knowlegde before.
