WEEK 9 READING: TITLE OF READING

Question 1: What are Durer’s rules for perspectival projection? (Maximum 100 words) First of all, Durer’s perspectival projection rule is to gather all lines at the same vanishing point. This is determined by the vertical line from the eye to the picture. Secondly, all parallel lines will gather at the same vanishing point, but does not include their location changes. Finally, when they disappear in space, the same size will gradually shrink.

Question 2: Describe homogenous space? (Maximum 100 words)

The homogenous space is a unified and unchanging space. All connection points or elements are in a definite position, rather than having their own independent content. In addition, the homogenous space is not a given space, and every point in the space can produce similar elements and numbers, no matter what direction they face.

As the beginning of the story puts it, proceeding eighty miles into the northwest wind, you reach the city of Euphemia. So, the beginning of the movement was set in the southeast corner. Besides, because Marco Polo described the scene with a long-time span, and the scene changes greatly. I chose a longer distance for the movement. At the same time, the main characters were set in the northwest corner and southeast corner.

Northwest corner of the whole construction. There is an open area for my background. The elements that appear in the story, such as the tent, appear in the background.

PERSPECTIVE SCENE 1 + 2

First, the first perspective view is in the morning. According to the story I chose, Marco Polo first described the trade scene in OEuphemia. I think most of the trade between businessmen happens in the early morning. Businessmen carrying their own goods from far area, arrived early in the trade market. This is what my first perspective view wants to express. The story also mentions that businessmen from seven countries sailed here, so characters in the first perspective view will be dressed in different costumes. Then set the background as a coastal market. Also use the illustrator to blur the background in order to distinguish it from the character.

The second perspective view is in the later afernoon. Marco Polo described the scene that people sitting together around a campfire after the sky was darker. So I added a bonfire and some flame characters in the second perspective view to make the scene warmer.

Question 1: IWhat is the difference between autographic and allographic practice? (Maximum 100 words) Authographic practice depends on the actor himself and depends to a certain extent on the direct participation of the original creator. Therefore, they cannot be copied by anyone other than the creator. While the allographic practice can be copied without the direct intervention of the author.

Question 2: Why do architects need new representational techniques? (Maximum 100 words) Because with the advancement of science and the development of social nature, traditional built-in building technologies cannot adapt to more and more complex contemporary cities. Architects need new representation techniques in order to make the connection between architecture and reality more closely.

In general, in the story I chose, Marco Polo described a common daily but warm scene. For me, what I want to create is an idealized scenario based on the Marco Polo’s description. What I mean is in my scenes there will be people from different classes and with different identities appear in the same scenes. In the persevere view that I created, there is no class distinction and no race. Everyone is enjoying their own life. This is also the lifestyle that I yearn for, and this is also the reason why I chose this story. Movement Stare Glance Light and Darkness Light Feeling Heavy Feeling Persective 1 0
