Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA) is an approval granted by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to a manufacturer of aircraft parts. ○ Protects against failures, malfunctions, and defects PMA-holding manufacturers/suppliers are permitted to make replacement parts for aircraft, even though they are not the original manufacturer of the aircraft. The process is analogous to 'after-market' parts for automobiles.
