Whilst in Beamish Museum I looked closely at some of the miner’s costumes. When talking to one of the miners, he said, “Miners would typically wear a shirt with a one piece collar; a waist coat with their mining coupon and pocket watch in the top pocket; trousers tucked into legwarmers, boots and a flat cap or helmet when down the mine. To the left is my own interpretation of this minor in his costume.

The launch of the 42,000 ton cargo carrier Hoegh duke at Swan Hunter shipyard in Wallsend. (chronicle live article.) Fineliner sketch, I found the structure of the crane very interesting as it makes up many different shapes.

For centuries the rivers development hinged on coal export. Tyneside coal fuelled the Industrial revolution of the 1800s, which made Britain the world’s foremost industrial power.

The demand for coal stimulated other areas of Tyneside’s economy. “

My own take on the impact the mining strikes had on families with a pencil sketch. It also gave me inspiration for my Photographic concept, as in my photoshoot I could recreate the anger and hard time the miners felt when they had to strike.
