Whilst in Beamish Museum I looked closely at some of the miner’s costumes. When talking to one of the miners, he said, “Miners would typically wear a shirt with a one piece collar; a waist coat with their mining coupon and pocket watch in the top pocket; trousers tucked into legwarmers, boots and a flat cap or helmet when down the mine. To the left is my own interpretation of this minor in his costume.
