Lucy Nolan Industrial Heritage DE0858 Liverpool Docks have been a large employment source for many members of the Liverpool Community. The Industrial Heritage of liverpool is largely based on the fact that in the 1700’s it was the biggest transportation dock for the translantic Slave trade. This enspired my work, visiting the Slavery museum enabled me to explore the difficult conditions the slaves were transported in and how the Merchants of Liverpool exploited them. The chain silhoutette is something I found very inspiring, how the different holes overlapped to create new shapes. This translated into mesh/holed fabric that I used throughout my designs, overplapping with layers of different coloured fabric gave the collection a vibarent essence, emulating the riches to rags feel.
