A truly prestigious event: we had the opportunity to exhibit at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, located in Ueno, the museum area of Tokyo, where the Tokyo National Museum, the National Museum of Nature and Science, the National Museum for Western Art and others are also located. We exhibit with the AJAC association, established in 1975 by contemporary artists, regardless of nationality, race and sex. AJAC stands for modern and liberal expressions in art.

During the Art Basel week, Wynwood is closing the Main Street to cars, so there are literally thousands of people walking in the district looking at the art on show.

WILLIAM BRAEMER www.williambraemer.com

To speak best about the work of American artist William Braemer, sculptor and painter of Cuban origin, one should begin from what he has written about himself: “I like to define my artistic style as Abstract in Nature, coupled with an expressionist quality […]. My art is my eyes looking into my soul”. In this phrase, he summarizes all the characteristic elements of his painting: abstraction above all, but an abstraction that is derived strictly from the observation of nature, lived in a deeply emotional way and, therefore, from the inside, in its dazzling sparks that provide inspiration. His shapes – or non-shapes – represent the essence of Nature itself, combined with a masterly and violently competent use of the tropical colors. A timeless, elegiac and “mythically” symbolic and iconic vision of figurative art is, on the other hand, clear in William Braemer’s sculptures. These headless bodies, or archaeological finds from the future, can be read both as metaphorical with their mysterious anatomies that are covered with a new skin made of American coins and other materials, but also with a sense of irony and humour.

KAY GRIFFITH www.kaygriffithart.com

Abstract artist Kay Griffith, born and raised in Texas, paints naturally, exuding passion and energy in every painting. Griffith has sought out technical training — a course on colour and design, basic oil painting and high-level technical training for detailed oil painting. She merges technical training with what she naturally does as an artist to create her own brand of abstract work. Each Griffith abstract is characterised by its own colour palette, rhythms, and textures. She paints with oil paint, wet-into-wet. Palette knives are employed to skilfully manipulate the paint. The result is masterful abstract expressionism. Griffith’s abstracts speak personally to each viewer, often evoking intense emotion, lively discussion and passionate reactions and one cannot expect her abstracts to evoke the same emotion in all viewers. Interpretations are always illusive and her abstracts know no cultural or geographic boundaries; they connect to commonality deep within us. The work has been described as complex, haunting, and exhilarating. Not wanting to direct the interaction between viewer and art, Griffith seldom names a painting beyond an identifying number. She insists that the viewer’s interaction with the paintings is far more important than her relationship to the art. Griffith has shown in the U.S.A., Europe and Canada. In 2014 Griffith showed in the Art en Capital exhibition at the Grand Palais in Paris, France. She was one of 29 international artists invited to participate in the event in conjunction with the Independent Artist Association of France. Griffith was chosen to represent the U.S.A. at the 2015 Art of The Americas Exhibition held in Toronto, Canada during the Pan Am Games and in 2017, Art Tour International Magazine named her as one of the Top 60 Contemporary Masters in the world.

DAVID HARRY www.davidharryfineart.com

Both of David Harry’s parents were artists. He grew up in a household with the sweet smell of turpentine, where the shelves were stocked with books about art and the walls were covered with paintings. His grandmother was the well-known painter Beulah S. Bowers. David Harry has had one man shows in Paris and New York City, as well as Hamburg, Potsdam and Freiberg in Germany. Various styles have marked his full artistic career, from early neo-expressionism to a project called Anti-Action painting. His current body of work consists of relatively largescale abstract paintings. In his artistic statement, David states that “fine art is a form of expression that works as a visual metaphor for a shared experience. My latest work is about a process not unlike jazz composition, action initiated over a familiar structure. The paintings also respond to place. […] Each painting is allowed to feel its own way. There is a charge that builds with time that brings with it presence which is also a goal of my work. Colour, light form, composition and energy are qualities that are important to me as an artist. The deep well of memory, and the light and perspectives that attend colour, give clarity to our own stories and the compositions lend form to emotion. It is important for the paintings to have layers as well; layers that contradict themselves visually, being both foreground and background. The work builds organically through a series of trials eventually coming together as a whole…”

LENORE DIAMOND ROBINS www.lenorediamondrobins.com

“The art world can be a puzzle for many. I often find myself in a puzzling situation, quite literally. With my art, I try to unravel this puzzle by creating designs which are imaginative, multi-dimensional and accessible to many. One fan described my art as “Pop Art that really pops! Using many coats of acrylic paints, I create sculptural wall art of vibrant color and contrast. The three-dimensional aspects of my work, in combination with strong geometric themes, draw viewers to reach out to touch the artwork. The high gloss resin on most of my pieces, is a technically challenging, very beautiful, hand mixed and hand-poured finish, which requires many, many years of experience to master. Photography does not do justice to my art. The camera lens just does not capture the vibrancy of my colors, the depth of my accents, nor the dimensionality of my work. To truly appreciate my art, one must see the originals. The images on these pages provide a glimpse into my world. The reality of my original work is far superior. In addition to collectors from the US, an international clientele of art collectors has purchased one or more of my unique, original works of art. My artwork has found excellent homes in Canada, Austria, Colombia, England, France, Spain, Switzerland and The Czech Republic.”

LINDA STELLA

Linda Stella is an American figurative painter and her style is suspended between Neo-impressionism and Neo-expressionism. Through her paintings, the artist reveals clearly feminine ancestral human aspirations to the observer which aim to surpass the contingence and project themselves in the transcendence. She has an innate aspiration to depict the eternal through simple things and everyday acts and her inner world is translated on the canvas to become a shared experience with the viewer. Each brushstroke is like a musical note, which extends the symphony of an intimate and spiritual ocean, it is rhythm and song. Her stories become our stories, her being is our being, in a sweetly illuminating fusion. She offers us women with large eyes and prominent lashes, ancient myths between butterflies and bats, female figures that dematerialize into sinuous forms, in union with nature and in a poetic recreation that become almost neo-Art Nouveau.

KEVIN THOMAS www.kevinthomasartist.com

“I enjoy drawing and painting just about everything under the sun – especially people.” Kevin Thomas acquired formal training through a scholarship to Parsons School of Design in New York City. The experience he received from the institutions there attributed greatly to his gaining invaluable direction. Kevin has created original fine art, illustrations and designs for numerous awardwinning projects for clients of advertising agencies and design firms to museums and universities throughout the United States. Each commission is as unique as it is different and all require a particular visual solution to that specific project challenge, whether he’s drawing or painting portraits of people, pets, landscapes or architecture.
