NICARAGUA Nicaragua is rapidly becoming a popular travel destination, with the number of visitors growing more than eight per cent each year since 2010. Why the spotlight now on this spectacular “Land of Lakes and Volcanoes?” Nicaragua is not only the largest and safest country in Central America, but within its borders are more than 70 unique eco-systems and seven per cent of the world’s bio-diversity. The excitement is not just about Nicaragua’s pristine natural beauty. The country has a rich Spanish Colonial heritage that shines especially in the colorful architecture of Granada and Leon. Visitors can enjoy adventure activities ranging from surfing, volcano climbing and volcano sledding, to biking, kayaking and zip-lining. And then there are the people. The “Nicas” are warm and welcoming and make visitors feel like family.

THE EMERALD COAST Aqua is nestled in a lush tropical forest that slopes down to serene Redonda Bay on Nicaragua’s Pacific “Emerald Coast,” 12 km north of San Juan del Sur. We do our best to preserve and protect this pristine natural habitat, our most precious resource. Our bay, our white-sand beach, and the entire Emerald Coast, with its world-class surfing beaches and rugged cliffs, are yours to explore and enjoy while at Aqua. Thanks to the new Emerald Coast Airport, guests can now fly to within 10 minutes of Aqua in less than one hour from Managua, the capital of Nicaragua, as well as from San Jose and Liberia, Costa Rica. The new ECI airport makes Aqua a perfect destination for a Nicaraguan add-on to a trip to Costa Rica, or for Europeans flying non-stop to San Jose from Madrid and London.

TREETOP LIVING Aqua’s 44 Luxury Suites and Studios are spread among 20 Tree Houses perched in the canopy. Sustainably built by local craftsmen of tropical hardwoods, Aqua’s Tree Houses feature spacious wooden decks, some with cut outs in the floor so that the trees can grow right up through them. You can select a Tree House with an ocean or a forest view. Our popular Beachfront Tree Houses are within steps of the sand. Guests may book a Tree House Luxury Suite with a King bed, sitting and dining area, deluxe kitchen and an infinity plunge pool, or a cozy Tree House Studio with a Queen bed. For the ultimate in privacy, friends or families can book an entire one, two, or three-bedroom Tree House.

NATURE Aqua immerses guests in unspoiled nature. We built our Tree Houses off the ground, to lessen their impact on the environment and to put you up-close-and-personal with the monkeys and birds in the trees. The Tree Houses connect to the beach, restaurant and spa by wooden bridges and lava-stone pathways flanked by ginger plants and banana groves. At night, you’ll see more stars than you ever dreamed possible. Aqua has partnered with Paso Pacifico, a non-profit conservation foundation, to preserve Aqua’s forest, monkeys, turtles and parrots.

OUR BEACH With protection from PaciďŹ c swells, the warm, clear waters of our bay are perfect for swimming, snorkeling, kayaking and stand up paddle boarding. For surďŹ ng, we take guests by boat to the nearby world-class surf breaks. The white-sand beach is fringed by trees and palapas, providing shade so that you can curl up with a book, enjoy a smoothie or an ice-cold beer. At dusk, the beach offers a front-row seat for watching ocean sunsets worthy of a Hollywood movie. At Aqua, we provide protected nests for the eggs of endangered Leatherback, Olive Ridley and Green turtles. Some nights, you may see turtle hatchlings wind-milling their way across the sand to the sea.

SEASIDE DINING Aqua’s open-air restaurant and bar deck offer healthy contemporary cuisine. We source hormone-free meats and organic produce from local farmers, and fish from fishermen in Gigante, less than a mile away. Our coffee is made with organic Nicaraguan coffee beans. Start your day with one of our fresh-squeezed tropical juices or smoothies, such as the “Funky Monkey,” made with orange juice, banana, cashew nuts and cocoa nibs. Our menus feature American and international dishes, everything from fish tacos and pasta to pad Thai, as well as “typico” Nicaraguan specialties such as ceviche, gallo pinto and churrasco (Nicaraguan BBQ). Some nights our chefs make pizzas in the wood-burning stone-hearth oven. Any time, they are happy to prepare vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free dishes upon request.

WELLNESS Wellness is at the heart of the guest experience at Aqua, starting with complimentary twice-daily yoga classes on our open-air yoga platform. Whether stretching, flowing, or meditating, enjoy and absorb the energy from the spectacular ocean view. Aqua’s spa offers a variety of massages and spa treatments. We also offer raw/vegan workshops, chocolate-making classes and beach workouts. To keep your body moving, you’ll find hiking trails, water sports and the infamous “Aqua Stairmaster” (the many stairs from the beach to reception) are part of your wellness program. Our location provides the base on which we build wellness: pure air, ocean waves, abundant wildlife and vegetation.

ADVENTURES Aqua offers an array of exciting tours and adventures, lasting from one hour to all day. We invite guests to explore national parks including Masaya Volcano and Mombacho Volcano Reserve, and Ometepe, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Excursions to nature reserves include zip-line canopy tours, etc. Other offerings include fishing, surfing, sunset cruises and horseback riding on the deserted beach where they filmed “Survivor-Nicaragua.” Without leaving the property, you can hike up the “Pie de Gigante,” the 300-foot sea cliff that anchors our bay on the north. Enjoy the spectacular view and, if you choose, rappel down on a rope!

GIVING BACK We are committed to “sustainable tourism” at Aqua. That means employing and training staff from the local community and more. As a proud member of Pack for a Purpose, we invite guests to save room in their suitcases to pack school supplies for the nearby one-room school, which has no indoor toilet, no water, and where school supplies are so scarce, students have to share their pencils. Aqua is also developing Project SEED (Project for Social, Energy, & Educational Development,) a non-profit organic farm and employment skills training center, on land we purchased within a mile of the resort.
